Father’s Day Gift Idea : Every Man Jack Beginner’s Luck Kit

I mean seriously, I don’t really know what else to give my family and friends other than beauty products. I guess it’s just me being at the peak of my thoughtfulness since beauty is my passion, anyway. My father is no exception. If it’s not a sturdy pair of flipflops, it’s either perfume or body scrubs. Gosh, I could go on forever on how I would use my really sweet tone on my dad just to make him use a body scrub! Men used to be low-maintenance and just grab the nearest bar of soap available, but now, there’s just this trend that they are taking care of themselves more and more ( which is a good thing ), and what’s a better way than celebrating that?

Every Man Jack Beginner’s Luck Kit is a gift set that is perfect for Father’s day. It’s a product bundle of Every Man Jack’s signature products that will fill up your dad’s product space in the shower, and in the vanity area.

Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy Sleep Collection

I’ve never appreciated sleep, until now.

When I was in college, I would not sleep due to my competitive and achievment-hungry genes, and I thought I was fine. I still looked fine.

With my age right now ( a little bit over twenty ), I’ve managed to abuse my body again with overworking as I said I would promise to relax as soon I have my goals realized.

Boy, oh boy, I was wrong. I thought that I can evade sleep forever. And now, it’s taken its toll.

I would hate myself in the morning as I look at myself in the mirror after a sleepless night. Dull skin complexion. Eyebags. Nooo. Now, I know, now, I know, and I’m gonna be a good girl, and sleep, sleep, sleep. Continue reading

Anti-Aging Find : Revaleskin

I never thought that the word coffee and berry would go together, for I just learned that there was such a plant called coffeeberry. Coffeeberry turns out to be a powerful antioxidant, which is the key ingredient of Revaleskin!

The anti-aging regimen that they’re presenting is quite simple- a Cleanser, a Day Cream with SPF 15, and a Night Cream. That’s pretty simple!

It’s still a new product that is exclusively sold in aesthetic physicians’ offices, and I have yet to read reviews about it. I’m hoping that this product line brought about by Stieffel Labs is good enough to help is slow down the signs of aging, because believe me, no one wants to grow old!

Hectic Beauty

hectic beauty law schoolMy dear bestfriend Angel has just had enough of my rantings on Yahoo Messenger about my very stressed state for the past few weeks, that she has donated a blog entry for me, since I have been teaching her how to apply makeup, and look-good tips for Law School. Awww, I love you girl! My guest blogger is none other than my protege and “student” of the Beautynomist, who is also a power student - she tops her classes with ease! Now, I find that sexy - an extremely intelligent, beautiful lady who knows what she wants, and is really really beautiful! ( and loves makeup, like I do, too! ) She reminds me of Elle Woods, or, I’d love to turn her into Elle Woods! Well, here’s Angel with the article, “Hectic Beauty”

Angel says…

I could say with confidence that I am always on the go. Being a full time law student, there is no idle time. You have to be on your toes. Manage your time well. Always be up and ready with your homework. With that, I admit that the temptation to yield to neglecting one’s personal upkeep is strong, nonetheless, this should not be the case. Beauty doesn’t need to be sacrificed with a hectic and on-the-go lifestyle.

Laneige Strawberry Yogurt Pack

First of all, a major shoutout to my blogger friend Renee! Happy Birthday Girl! *hugs* Wishing you tons of beauty products to come your way as we seek solace in them! Haha!

Second, back to my entry…(haha!)

laneige strawberry yogurt pack

I received a sample as a freebie from my Hongkong purchases from my good friend, Diana ( sniff, I really miss you Dee! I wanna go to Beijing already and do some pinyin with y’all! ). Since I’m on treatment, and I couldn’t immediately switch from one brand to another in the name of skin care, I had my little sister, a college freshman with the nickname of Strawberry, to try the Laneige Strawberry Yogurt Pack. ( How cute! Strawberry tries some Strawberry facial wash! ) Continue reading

My Anti-Aging Resolutions

anti-aging I’ve been told that an anti-ageing regimen should be adopted during our mid-twenties so that we wouldn’t have to worry about the problem when it starts to show the moment we hit thirty. I’m in my mid-twenties right now, but still, I think that I’m still too lazy to adopt an anti-ageing regimen. I mean, I had my skin checked at the Nu Skin Office (c/o my Nu Skin junkie friend) , and the Visia results showed that I had zero sun damage in my skin ( Cool! ), even if I wasn’t really vigilant about wearing sunblock. Good thing that my mineral makeup provided sun protection, then! I didn’t even care so much about sunblock (sometimes, I don’t even like my moisturizer ) Haha!

Well, upon reading an article in Cosmo and Marie Claire about wrinkles, and anti-ageing practices, I suddenly froze. I tried to recall how old I was ( I stopped counting since I turned twenty ), and realized, I was not in my EARLY twenties, I’m slowly moving into the MID-twenty category! Gosh, tons of realizations rushed into my system - I absolutely NEEDED to act before my laugh lines, wrinkles, and tons of aging symptoms show! Not that I’m afraid to age, or what. Heck, I am excited about growing older! I get to progress in my career, I get to get married, I get to have children, and get that content look in my mom’s face one day. Who wouldn’t want to live life? But I just had to live it with a beautiful face. Hahaha!

Beautifying Oneself Results in Revenues!

*Unbelievable? You have to believe me! You’ll learn why as you keep reading *wink*

So, I believe, there is some business sense reading and writing my Beautynomics blog, when I read somewhere, acclaimed Economist Hal Varian’s article ( his textbook way back in college was fulla math! ) for the New York Times ( I read via my Manila Bulletin Saturday Edition ), that beautiful women, and handsome men, get paid higher than those of mediocre looks. Sounds unfair? Well it isn’t really.

Why Economic Models Don’t Work, While Other Beauty Regimens Don’t, Too.

While I was in college, studying, and religiously applying makeup to impress my crush ( hehehe ), Economics was such a fascinating thing to study about. There were models that promised to alleviate poverty, some mathematical models that explained how investments can generate employment, and the most exciting thing that I have ever learned - that taxes, actually improve the economy - physically ( roads, infrastructure ), and “spiritually” - improving human life condition ( alleviating poverty, more funds for education, etc. ). But I don’t see it that much. Super, duper weird. Let’s just try to point out the reasons, WHY.

Scarcity of Beautiful Faces & Opportunity Cost of Skin Maintenance

One of the jargons, that I happen to absorb quite well during my first few days as an Economics student were the terms, “scarcity”, and “opportunity cost”. They’re one of the few basic terms taught to Economics students before things get harder. hehe :) They might sound simple, at first, but there are some important ideas presented by these two terms.

Scarcity, in layman’s term , is the lack of something. In this world of ours, no matter how boundless the resources are, face it, our resources are most limited. For people like us, we don’t have all the time in the world, all the money , and all the talents and skills. For bigger societies, countries, and companies, they have limited resources as well - their factors of production - manpower, capital ( money, or land ), and technology. No wonder hyperbolic and fantasy films ( Richie Rich…Princess Diaries ) always earn - men have always wanted to get everything he needs. That’s okay , as one of my professors told me, the world can provide every person’s needs. The worst part is, men, by nature, have always wanted to fulfill their wants, as much as possible. Want is such a strong term, because it is synonymous of the word, “whim”. The world, is not enough ( yes, this was a James Bond movie. That’s how strong my point is. hahaha:) ) for even one person’s wants. Continue reading

Economics in the Name of Vanity

If I were a professor ( which I’ve always dreamed about, but I really do hate math, Economics tamed my “hate” for it, but just a little bit ), I would be scolded for a very bad lesson plan. Jumping from one topic to another without even introducing my theme. Well, it’s time. ( sounds serious..! )
