The Sisterhood of Traveling Hair Styling Tools

t3

I love hair irons!

Hahaha! Don’t you think that the title’s funny? Instead of “travelling pants,” I’ve made it a whole lot vain-er . Well, come to think of it, we always want our hair styling tools around us, don’t you agree? They’re our sisters, and somehow, we share them with our friends during our getting-ready moments!

I remember during high school, during our retreat, seeing my really cute classmate ( she’s a girl ) fresh from the shower, with her hair wet, as she whipped up her hair blower, and started blow drying her hair. In that moment, I knew, that it was her secret for her impossibly bouncy and enviable hair that she sports everyday!

Makeover Escapades : Nikki

Nikki

Nikki Guevara is a stage actress, a singer, a TV personality, and just finished taking up makeup lessons in the Make Up For Ever Academy here, so just imagine the pressure on my shoulders when I was asked to do her makeup for this photoshoot. Oh yes, my shoulders were sore for an entire week after. Hahaha!

Kidding aside, Nikki was so much fun to talk to, as she was friendly, and we had our love for makeup as our common ground. She even brought with her a traincase full of droolworthy makeup ( at least she was more organized than I am! ) , and a Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual, that I really really love as well! As I was chatting with her, I kept on sensing that she looked familiar, until out of the blue, I just asked, “are you related to Carla Guevara?” She said, “Yes, she’s my sister!” No wonder, they looked so much alike ! I remember applauding over Carla Guevara-Laforteza’s performance in Avenue Q, and looks like Nikki is also going to steal the stage just like that soon! Continue reading

Makeover Escapades: Christine

Christine

lovely Christine. photo by Mark Ong

Last Sunday, I was invited by friends, and my beau for a fun photoshoot. M, knowing that I miss doing makeup, was very supportive, as I was very supportive of him as he has been too busy with work that he has neglected his hobby, which is photography.

R presented me with three beautiful models, that I was happy to stare down, and fantasize about. Oh, don’t get me wrong. I’m all wholesome! Hahaha! Makeup artists fantasize on what looks they can come up with on their subjects for that very gratifying finished product – work captured in photos.

Christine Riley was a breath of fresh air. She had great skin to begin with, and a great smile, as well! She’s very young, but I was amazed with the makeup collection that she brought for the photoshoot – a collection of MAC makeup brushes, and a wide variety of professional and high end makeup brands! Well, girls really start early! Christine is quite a makeup and makeup brush collector, that I had the honor of using her tools, and products for the shoot.

My L’Oreal Professionel INOA Hair Coloring Experience

INOA

INOA. Hair color of the future.

When I used a D-I-Y permanent hair color for my hair just in time have my hair rebonded, I didn’t expect that one of my friends would say that I should have my hair dyed again since it lacked lustre. So when I was presented the chance to try out L’Oreal Professionel’s new hair color, INOA, I was more than game to see if it would give my hair some lustre magic.

Eyebrow Rituals : Do You Shave or Tweeze?

It’s been a messy month for me as some of my things are suddenly missing, or I may have just neglected my cleaning duties in the house. A consequence of that happens to be my missing eyebrow grooming tools – my ever so reliable Aero Tweeze Slant Tip Tweezers, and my small scissors for my brows. Oh no!

As a substitute, I just grabbed some eyebrow razors that’s been lying around my vanity table, and use it for days. Yes, they’re pretty quick in keeping my brows back into shape, but give it a few days, that I could not control my eyebrow hair growth anymore. I needed good ‘ol eyebrow scissors, plus, the regrowth of my eyebrow hair feels just so bumpy and harsh against my skin when my I run my hand on the area. Oh, how I felt so irritated with that feeling that I was determined by hook or by crook to find my tweezers!

What I’m Using Now : L’Oreal Revitalift Double Eye Lift

Haven’t you noticed how time flies so fast lately? How days pass on just like a blink of an eye? One minute, you are rejoicing the weekend, and before you know it, you are dreading Monday again?

Haha! Forgive me for rubbing it in. I’m turning a year older in a few weeks’ time, thus, the blues. With my birthday drawing near, I always plan ahead on something vain – my annual hair rebonding ( oh, waves be gone! ) , reuniting with my dermatologist from my long absence due to toxic work, and of course, if I can’t stall my age from adding one more, I know I can stall my age from showing – specially in my eyes!

The eyes are just the first to age, and the area in my face that I am most concerned with ( amongst alot of things ). For ages, I’ve been on the lookout for that perfect eye cream – something that would REALLY work. But the thing is, eye creams are tricky – you need to commit to them long-term until you see results. It’s a big risk, really.

With that, I am trying something new from L’Oreal, called the L’Oreal Revitalift Double Eye Lift.

Beauty Destination : Elianto

Elianto is a Malaysian beauty brand that is very well known because of its quality products coupled with really affordable prices! One of the highlights this quarter was being able to stroll in an Elianto boutique for the first time (yes, I only chance upon them on Robinson’s department stores ), as my eyes were fed with such visual candy. And I mean it!

There are so much stuff inside the Elianto store – they have skin care, hair products, makeup, makeup brushes, nail polish, cottons, I can’t even enumerate all of them! Multiply it with several product lines at that!

Here are some highlights of my trip inside the beauty wonderland called Elianto :

Beautynomics Review : MAC Cosmetics Pret a Papier Collection

Boy, this must be one of my favorite collections so far. When I received some items from the latest MAC Collection, namely Pret a Papier, one look at the shades, and bam. I felt that MAC just solidified the orange revolution. This collection will surely make you think twice of getting another pink lipstick again, and would really make you want to try an orange one!

Okay, let’s make a run thru of each of the items I have over here :
