The Beautynomist Takes On the Shiseido White Lucent Skin Challenge!

Two weeks ago, Sample Room Partner Bloggers were given a treat to an afternoon of beauty pampering, and makeover, courtesy of Shiseido Philippines. We all met up at SM Makati, at their current pop-up store at the ground floor, near the SM Department Store there. We were given a chance to try Shiseido’s newest breakthrough product that promises you that your dark spots will be erased, and what would be left, is only beautiful, even, bright, beautiful skin.

Shiseido White Lucent The Ultimate Whitening Pair works hand in hand, as the Shiseido White Lucent Spot Targeting Serum+ crushes all the hardened melanin on our skin ( our dark spots caused by aging, sun exposure, and even hormones ), and Shiseido White Lucent Power Brightening Mask ejects all the existing crushed melanin.

This is the Shiseido pop-up store at SM Makati. There, they offer free consultation ( no purchase required ), and makeovers and facials with a minimum purchase. There, you can also see Shiseido makeup that you can actually swatch and check for your perfect shade!

Beautynomics Prom Special : Sarabeth

roses

Tis the season for roses to bloom.

Dear Sugar,

I think that I must be the most excited person, when you announced that it’s time for you to have your JS Prom. I had such a fun time preparing for Strawberry’s prom 5 years ago, and I just can’t believe that my baby sister is now turning into a lady. I could swear it was just yesterday when you were struggling with words, and uttering silly baby words, as I laughed and happily conversed in baby lingo with you.

Beauty Lookbook : Alice in Wonderland Inspired Look

These are one of the days wherein I feel so bored, but so inspired ( oh yeah, they work well together in my system! haha! ) , that I just thought I’d have some fun with my new Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland Palette. One word – love. Oh, make that two – Love, love. Three? Love, love, love! Hahaha!

Anyway, I’ve decided to go colorful this time, and play with the vivid colors included in the palette,

A Hello Kitty Photoshoot

…I told you I really really love Hello Kitty, right?

See, I made a photoshoot in celebration of my new MAC Hello Kitty loot!

All colors are from the MAC Hello Kitty collection. The colors are vibrant, fresh, and youthful.

My model is 17-year old Lynette Chua, my classmate from makeup school. Such a beautiful, sweet girl, that will break many hearts one day. The shoot was held in Chinese Gardens, Singapore. It was a rainy day, thankfully, the pictures turned out fine !

I Know What I Did This Weekend!

This weekend wasn’t ordinary for me. No, I wasn’t out watching movies with girlfriends, I did not go to my weekly dinners, nor did I meet up with anyone. I simply stayed at home sweet home, and reelaxed! Yes, nothing beats some once-in-a-while peace and quiet at home, watching TV, reading books, and listening to the silent music of the night. Clears the mind, I say!

Well, what did I REALLY do? Okay, it still wasn’t an excuse NOT to wear makeup or BE around makeup.

Good thing I have a doll that I could use as my model anytime, my sister Straw, as I fulfilled my dream of transforming a chinita into someone who would channel Kim Kardashian, whose makeup I sooo love! From the prime look that I always aim for her, I went adventurous and tried my Bourjois Ombre Stretch in Black to do the smoky eye! I also had a chance to practice my false eyelash-application skills, and voila! I’m glad I finally did it right!

Project Makeover : Elliott Yamin

elliott yaminBoy, oh boy, oh boy, it’s my weekly American Idol Special! :) And this week, my feature is none other than one of my angels, Elliott Yamin. ( The other one’s Clay Aiken, whom I featured earlier.)

I believe way back, I was reading Musebay – American Idol Blog ( My American Idol fix ), and she was ranting about our local DJ commenting that Elliott won’t win American Idol because he looked like a retard. Right then and there, I wanted to strangle that stupid DJ. No, my nails! Hmm…I wanted to find a weapon to do violence on that DJ…err..my weapons are my makeup brushes, and lipstick. Oh, nevermind! Some people do not understand that people gifted with such beautiful voices are angels from heaven, still cloaked with mystery. The moment you reveal the real them, they’re absolutely beautiful physically, that matches perfectly with their beautiful voices. Look at Clay Aiken. ( Not much to say, just look! haha :) ) If I were a Hollywood stylist, I’d absolutely grab the offer to do a makeover on Elliott Yamin. Because I know, he is a star!

The Wonders of Makeover – Katharine McPhee !

katharine mcphee As an avid watcher of American Idol that I am, here is my girl version of my previous entry, The Wonders of Makeover! – Clay Aiken. Whom am I choosing for my girlie version? None other than the McPheever, dazzling Katharine McPhee.

Why? Well, I was about to choose Kelly Clarkson, who has had a drastic improvement as well, but I like her with natural makeup more. That’s another entry! haha :)

You might wonder why I picked Katharine McPhee. Well, she is pretty to start with, but her face, was pretty bare when she first auditioned for American Idol. I am further pointing out the wonders of makeup, in this particular entry. Continue reading

The Wonders of Makeover – Like Clay Aiken!

picture from www.wikipedia.org

So, okay, I am so into makeovers. I believe that someone’s skin care regimen or vanity affairs can make or break a person, as well as his/her makeup ( yeah, men wear makeup too! )

Believing that, I know that everyone is simply beautiful. You just have to know what fits you well. In other words, in my nerdy economic terms, my “optimal” point.

Optimum, according to Economist.com, means :

As good as it gets, given the constraints you are operating within. For the concept of optimum to mean anything, there must be both a goal, say, to maximise economic WELFARE, and a set of constraints, such as an available stock of scarce economic resources. Optimising is the process of doing the best you can in the circumstances.

Beautynomics Prom Special Part Two

The Beautynomist as Prom-sitter

PROM PROM PROM PROM PROM. Well, it was just one of those nights that I could never forget. Since my school was coed, we didn’t have really dates that we chose ( teachers assigned our dates, with ratio 2 or 3:1 in favor of the boys ), so it was more of a fun night with my best buddies. I just had a blast preparing for it, and attending it, that I just couldn’t let go of the wonderful experience – hence, extending my help to my younger sister, who was just always dependent on me for beauty advice ( Can’t blame her, she always gets the best results! ).

Of course, as my dearest sister, I had to make sure she looked like a goddess, not some godmother or granny, or any prom girl disaster slash nightmare. I just had to made sure no one insulted my sister ( or else, I would have stabbed her with my lethal lipstick..whapak! ) , for that matter, so it was a must for me to pick the right dress, pick the right accessories, and pick the right look :)
