MAC Cosmetics The Stylish Brow – and I’m in Brow Heaven!

StylishBrow-Beauty-300

Oh my goodness. If you’ve seen me tame down a little bit ( juuuust a little bit! ) on my MAC addiction for the past few years, this is the first time that I’ve hyperventilated, and got really excited ( to the moon! ) as I saw the visuals for MAC Cosmetics The Stylish Brow Collection.

I love my eyebrows. So much. I used to stay after my formal classes in makeup in Singapore to practice shaping and drawing eyebrows until I perfected it, and I am just so obsessed with it. I believe that it frames the face, and you can go bare-faced for all you want for the day, but the eyebrows always need to be perfectly shaped, whether it is just naturally shaded for that effortless, polished look for a simple day, or that well-defined, elegant look for night time. Brows are everything. Repeat after me. You’ll thank me next time when you finally realize it! I feel so naked without eyebrow makeup. Really.

MAC Cosmetics holds the one product that I swear by over, and over, and will never get tired of searching, and hoarding – the MAC Brow Set in Girlboy. After shading the eyebrows, I always like to soften it as my brows are pitch black, and no amount of shading would make it lighter. I shade my eyebrows with a soft shade of light brown, and proceed to apply girl boy like a brow mascara on my eyebrows until it looks really soft focus and light-colored. I love it with all my heart!

Now, MAC Cosmetics has launched Stylish Brow, a limited edition collection of eyebrow products that I’m sure alot of you would love! Here are the products with some of my commentary to further guide you on which you might want to get!

Lasting Eyebrow Makeup With K-Palette 24H Real Lasting Eyebrow Liner

sparse

Eew. Sorry for getting dismayed at my own eyebrows.

So this is how my eyebrows look before they are drawn. Shaped accordingly. Take a closer look ( okay, fine, bratty me used the iPhone because I’m still unwilling to show this in high resolution hahaha! ), and you will get to see that my eyebrows are unevenly distributed – they’re quite full near my nose, but they are really, really sparse by the “tail”-end (easily put in Filipino, “buntot”). That explains why I have to draw, at least, the “tail” every single day as I deem myself looking weird and too undone without decent eyebrows everyday.

I think I started getting obsessed with my eyebrows after my first makeup schooling under the ultra-talented RB Chanco. All the more when I took up an advanced bridal makeup course in Singapore when Singaporeans are ultra precise, and very much strict with well-shaped eyebrows. I believe to have stayed behind after school with my frustrations to get that perfect arch and that perfect shape. At home, I would even be my own model as I would practice drawing my eyebrows for hours. Sigh, oh memories!

With my obsession with eyebrows and fiddling with eyebrow products, I definitely have tried almost every brow product there is. Pencils, wax, gels, powders, and even pens. Yes, eyebrow pens. They reminded me so much of my favorite Chinese calligraphy pen when I was in high school. We were asked to use a calligraphy brush, dipped in black ink to write as finely as we can in small boxes of space ( xiao cai, if you can relate, ) and my aunt from Taiwan just came home one day bearing me presents – one of them is an automatic pen that dispenses back ink like a ballpen already, and the rest was history. I loved those pens until they ran dry. Little did I know that these pens would evolve into being eyebrow pens one day!

Look For The Day : Sophie Attends A Day Wedding

c2

Look for the day!

A few weeks ago, was my uncle’s wedding. Well, he is almost as old as I am, add a few years to my age, but he’s my dad’s cousin! So he’s considered my uncle. It was a family affair, and a day wedding, so I carefully prepared my makeup and my get-up for the event.

For my makeup, now, don’t judge me – I really, really wanted to play with lighter shades, but I really feel that small eyes really look great with smoky eyed makeup. So there, I was about to sport a gold lid with a shimmery black contour, that changed last minute into a a brown smoky eyed look. Black shades nearing the lashline, gradually lightening up with deep brown, and shimmery brown as I go up my lids.

For my blush, I used Sleek Contour Kit in Medium for that added dimension, and added Bobbi Brown’s Tawny shade ( it’s an earthy shade ) on top of the contour. By then, I was looking for some shimmer in my face already, so I found my Beauty & Minerals Mineral Blush in Buff Apricot and swiped it on my cheekbones.

For my lips, well, I was quite excited to use my new shade of lipstick, which is Inglot Matte Collection AMC Lip Pencil #11. The shade is a beautiful, beautiful coral shade, that is just so me! I asked Brigitte to get the most “me” Inglot lipstick as she travelled to Dubai a month ago, and she was definitely spot on! I’m so in love with this perfect shade, and expect to see it in more of my looks!

For my outfit, well, I would need to confess to you guys that I’m getting addicted to all things related to fashion lately. I love reading fashion blogs, and I love online shopping for clothes and shoes! *somebody help me this is getting addictive!* Though I am still not fashionable enough, I think that I am slowly molding my style.

I’ve found a gem on Facebook that sells really beautiful dresses – The Florence Fling. The styles are really feminine and chic, and I feel that the styles are classic and will not get outdated at all. I can even see myself wearing their dresses 10 years from now – oh please Sophie just please don’t balloon into a bigger size!

S1

Here’s me ( please ignore my eyes, they totally disappeared in the photo ) wearing one of The Florence Fling’s dresses – the Alexine Goddess dress in Matte Bronze.

Well, I really really enjoy formal affairs when I can dress up and do my own hair and makeup! I know it’s a tedious task to prepare, but I am loving every single moment of it!

We’re using the Bobbi Brown Pretty Palette, alongside various Bobbi Brown makeup products. The Bobbi Brown Pretty Palette is a palette that is good for applying eyebrow color, a light eye makeup look ( specifically, pinks ) and a really natural lip color + gloss. I say this would help you achieve a very fresh look. Nothing too bright or flashy, this is for au naturelle lovers out there.

Please use the photo above for reference of the shades included in the palette. This makeup tutorial is sort of a makeup tutorial for Asian eyes- as my eyes are Asian! :)

On to our step by step makeup tutorial!

All My Eyebrow Love!

eyebrow2

I deeply regret not having documented my beauty escapades in Japan last year, at it was the wildest beauty wonderland that I’ve ever been to! I didn’t even dare buy anything from the department stores as beauty outlets were everywhere! Big brands like Kose, Shiseido, and even SK II are sold in outlets there for a fraction of the price!

A year had passed, and my deepest regret is that I haven’t hoarded enough in Japan! Good thing that Claud, a good friend of mine recently had her vacation there, and as I chanced upon her updates on Facebook, I just asked her to hoard one thing. Only one thing – these absolutely precious Shiseido Eyebrow Pencils! I remember giving them to my co beauty bloggers as gifts from my trip there last year, and I think they loved it!

Beauty Lookbook : Alice in Wonderland Inspired Look

These are one of the days wherein I feel so bored, but so inspired ( oh yeah, they work well together in my system! haha! ) , that I just thought I’d have some fun with my new Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland Palette. One word – love. Oh, make that two – Love, love. Three? Love, love, love! Hahaha!

Anyway, I’ve decided to go colorful this time, and play with the vivid colors included in the palette,

Beautynomics Review : MAC Penultimate Brow Marker

I’m delirious with happiness as MAC includes the MAC Penultimate Brow Marker in its All Ages, All Races, All Sexes Collection. Really, this must be the “it” eyebrow pen!

I’ve suffered and tormented over-fussing to be able to draw the perfect brows last year, as I have even resorted to the use of eyeliner brush to draw brows from scratch. There was even one day wherein I sported my brows using the MAC Fluidline. I thought it looked too thick. Hahaha!

Being able to grab a sample of the MAC Penultimate Brow Marker was a real surprise for me. I thought it was another penultimate eyeliner, as I tried to apply a thin line on mom’s upper lids. With that, I began to notice that it was watery and it didn’t have any solid color. And it’s brown. Okay, there must be something wrong. I check the label and it says “Penultimate Brow Marker.” Ohh, right, it was something for the eyebrows! Excitement welled within me, as I adore liquid eyebrow colors. Remember the Make Up For Ever Eyebrow Corrector? I have three tubes of that. Hahaha!
