My Makeup Artist Portfolio

Sorry for the temporary hiatus, ladies, my server’s memory has gone full and I had it fixed by my host. Okay, back to beauty blogging!

I’ve put up a temporary site for my makeup works, and I’m slowly building my portfolio. I hope you’d add me up at Multiply! Yesterday, I did makeup for my sister’s photoshoot, and here are some photos :

A Beauty Chat With Rovilson Fernandez

wee!

I was called to do makeup for a shoot today, thanks to my very supportive mentor RB Chanco. I had the absolute shock of my life when I entered the dressing room and met the person whom I am doing makeup for - it’s Rovilson Fernandez!

Rovilson Fernandez is one host that I feel will never run out of words because of his very spontaneous nature. I’ve watched him host Ang Pinaka on QTV, and me and my friends have been rooting for him and Marc Nelson to win during their adventure in Amazing Race, Asia. ( and just now, I just knew that guy friends know him because he’s EIC for Maxim? haha! ) Needless to say, I tried to keep my calm and do my job efficiently. For men’s makeup, it was more on bronzers and contouring, and I enjoyed this shoot despite the heat!

Beauty Products Are a Makeup Girl’s Best Friend!

Aside from the friendships that formed that I can never be thankful of during makeup class, I’d like to take time to also thank my special friends for helping me survive my grueling finals :

SkinHour Mattifying Day Cream - I used this skin care on all my models and the first thing they’d say is, “ambango a! ano to?” ( how fragrant! what is this? ). Very organic, all natural, and moisturizing, fit for all skin types.

Makeup School Escapades : Zee Final Exam

A photoshoot. Yep, that is our final exam! Well, ready for my story?

Here goes :

A day before the final exam, Jheng and I met up. According to her, I looked so relaxed and ready for the exam while she was on the brink of a breakdown. So untrue. That was what I was trying to battle - stress. I was trying to tell myself that everything will be okay, but deep inside, I was at my most nervous state that I could faint any moment! Yes, now you know how nerviosa I am! I have failure as one of my greatest fears, but I know that if I get all tensed and keep on getting really nervous, I might not be able to function the next day. So I tried to condition myself.

After shopping for last minute supplies and accessories for our themes, we bid each other goodbye, and wished each other good luck for our finals day. As I got home, I hurriedly packed all my stuff for our big day. Gosh, I even dreamed that I woke up and I could not remember anything! ( Goodness gracious, I think I’m losing it ).

Anyway, as I woke up to my dreaded day, a very good friend of mine was nice enough to drive me to school, and my sister was kind enough to accompany me to take photos. The day started with our teacher RB Chanco breezing in a very dazzling black dress, and started doing a final demo on color-themed makeup. She transformed Les from a doll-looking gal into a Brazilian bombshell!

News Flash : Your Beauty Bloggers Still Very Much Alive

* Even Touche Eclat failed to hide my stress. Dang.

If you’re wondering why Phoebe, Jheng, and I have been quiet lately, well things have been really really toxic lately. Phoebe’s started a new adventure ( watch out for her post! ) and Jheng and I have been fretting about our final exam in makeup school : a photoshoot.

Makeup School Escapades :Fussing For a Final Exam

Chant 10 times : “My creativity is flourishing.”

This week , I’ve been absolutely had no sleep.

This week, every single second counts. A countdown to my final exams in Basic Makeup Artistry!

As of today, my brushes are all dirty, as I have washed all of them awhile ago, getting ready for battle on Saturday. Preparations are just too taxing, but I don’t even know if they’re enough!

MAC Makeup Artist Profile : Erika Saenz

For two days straight, I’ve been attending MAC makeup workshops facilitated by MAC Cosmetics‘ Senior Trainer, Erika Saenz. I was able to absorb alot of information and technique from her as she was very generous in sharing tips and tricks on makeup application. I was able to corner her for a few minutes to ask for our readers for Beautynomics, so here they are!

Makeup School Escapades : How A Beauty Blogger Spends Her Birthday

A birthday wish come true - longtime friend Mae agreeing to model for me!

This year’s simply been the best for me as I was able to enroll myself in makeup school and explore more my passion. This is even a better year as I turned a year older, surrounded by things that I love most!

A day before my birthday, I rushed to MAC Shangri-la to attend the MAC Bridal Workshop by Erika Saenz , Senior MAC Trainor.

Makeup School Escapades : OJT-ing for MAC Cosmetics

Here’s me, looking like a royal mess beside theatre and TV royalty Aiza Seguerra. Gosh, but I don’t care! Look - I posted the picture, anyway! ( Thanks Jheng for taking it! )

Well, right after our class, we rushed to the RCBC Plaza immediately to do our on-the-job-training stint for MAC Cosmetics. We were to assist Zeldy( who looked like Pops Fernandez, btw ), makeup artist of MAC for the Shangri-la branch. Thinking that it was a fashion show, I got all nervous and brought along Beth Bender’s smoky eye stencil with me just in case of an artist’s block. But when we went there, we realized that it wasn’t a fashion show. It was a play - Avenue Q, the only play that I was wishing to watch!

Makeup Escapades : Highlighting, Neutral Eyeshadow Application, Goofing Up Like a Makeup Artist

Me and Crissy, after contouring and highlighting.

Last Saturday, I felt like the Hunchback of Notre Dame ( or Kampanerang Kuba, to make it more feminine ) as I carried ALOT of stuff for school - a huge makeup doctor’s bag for all the makeup, a Save the Earth green bag for all the skin care, makeup brushes, and books, my shoulder bag, and my overnight bag ( which I left at a friend’s house, fortunately, before heading off to school ). With all those “stress” on my shoulders, I think I’d be needing to go to the spa soon. And yeah, I ditched my camera because it was just too much to carry! So for last Saturday, I was the ultimate beggar for pictures! Haha but thanks to my kind classmates, I am able to “picnap” some.

Our class last Saturday was about highlighting and 4-color neutral eyeshadow application. I’ve always been fascinated about neutrals because they’re all about “shadow-play” and it’s very tricky, even if you’re playing with a limited number of shades. It’s just like my favorite thing to do - contouring and highlighting, that makes features recede or pop out. I find them all fascinating because with these, who needs plastic surgery? ( I got this from Kevyn Aucoin’s book ). They absolutely “cheat” the eyes.
