Beautynomics Review : Shu Uemura x Karl Lagerfeld Lipstick in Celebrity Beige

celebbeige2

Look. I am so sorry!!!!

I hope the Shu Uemura x Karl Lagerfeld Collection are still in stores, or at least, sold online! I heard they were still available in Duty Free!

I got this last December, but with my super crazed up schedule, I only got the chance to fully enjoy and check this lipstick out this January, and it is just soooo fabulous!

Shu Uemura x Karl Lagerfeld Lipstick in Celebrity Beige is that bright peach nude shade that glides on glossily on the lips, and give it a few swipes and you get good, enough coverage already. This shade is so pretty that I get compliments ( around 3x already on separate occasions! ) whenever I wear this. Continue reading

Sometimes, Having a Tanned Complexion is Better

raisin2

peek-a-boo!

This is me, sharing with you my look of the day, as I was just being vain me, taking photos of myself with the iPhone camera, when I realized that my skin was tanned for the day. I didn’t actually realize it until I saw this photo, and I might attribute it to my diving trip last weekend. The weather at Puerto Galera was really sunny, and even with sunblock, the glaring sun would just cause the skin to go darker. Who’s complaining? I’m actually loving my tanned complexion now. I feel, I look healthier. There’s so much warmth to my skin. That makes me excited for summer! Hahaha! I love it that I am able to switch from fair-skinned to tan-skinned and pull off both complexions just quite okay. I also have foundation shades that are light, and even darker, for that purpose.

To share with you my look for the day, here are the makeup products that I used :

Beautynomics Review : Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lip Color in Calypso

BOBBIBROWNMATTE2

For every phase in our life, our taste levels change.

I’m not exactly eighteen, but I do remember what kind of makeup I loved when I was eighteen – luscious pink lipglosses, baby pink lipsticks, and eventually progressing to pale pinks, beautiful peaches, but never bordering on the dark and bold lip. I have tried them one at a time, but I was never convinced to stay and keep my lips that way. Last year was my “lip color” coming of age. I finally succumbed into solid lipcolor, eventually liking solid, matte lipcolors.

Matte lipsticks? My key word is Scarlett Johanson from the Black Dahlia. Solid color, full lips. Amplified definition. Ultra sexy. If you think that the opposite of luscious, glossy lips are matte and flat lips, think again. Matte lips are classic lips. They will never, ever go out of style.

I thank the heavens for fantastic formulas of my favorite lipstick brands, and one of my favorite nowadays is Bobbi Brown‘s newly launched Creamy Matte Lip Colors. The formula’s really creamy, easy to spread, and there’s instant coverage in one sweep ( and another one to make everything even ) . The formula is also non-drying, that it did not cause my lips to dry and chap, unlike that of other brands that I have tried years ago ( technology is really my BFF, I tell you! ), so for those who have dry lips and still want to pull off a full, matte lip, Bobbi Brown has the perfect formula for you. Beautynomics Lookbook : MAC Lipstick in Morange

mac-morange-lipstick

MAC Lipstick in Morange

Earlier this year, it was a quick stroll in the mall when I chanced upon MAC Cosmetics’ temporary pop-up stall. My eyes immediately zoomed in the latest collection, which was Iris Apfel. There and then, I was able to swipe one of the brightest, most daring, and oh! so beautiful orange lipstick in the whole wide world. I exclaimed, “ahhh! beautiful!” just as soon as the makeup artist manning the booth smiled and told me, “out of stock.” I felt my world fell apart that day!

This was MY orange! Ahhh!!! It couldn’t be!

I actually contacted my friends over at MAC Cosmetics to ask if there were still stocks coming in, or if they would still have them in other branches. Dingdingding, I wasn’t doomed at all! Kirsten of MAC Cosmetics told me that this is not a limited edition shade, as it was part of the permanent line, so I immediately had one tube reserved pronto! Thanks to Phoebe for picking it up for me, and when I finally got my hands on it, I was in cloud nine!

MAC Lipstick in Morange is a loudmouth orange. All I can say is that it was bright, bright, bright! Knowing me, I would tend to shy away with bright, red lips, but I’ve always wanted to sport a look that is similar to that, just not red. I have self proclaimed that I am more of a peach/coral/orange person rather than a red person, and I even look better with peaches than pinks. So I am claiming it my color!

I am rather nervous with a bright orange shade, well, I just mustered my guts to sport the look, and here are the looks that I came up with! Continue reading

my kitty playmate for the day, Phoebe

Dealgrocer has been running great deals lately, and one of the nice deals that you can actually score there are makeup classes by the Shu Uemura Learning Atelier located at the Powerplant Mall. Phoebe and I teamed up for a fun Saturday to play with makeup and learn a few tricks here and there!

The description of the class says:

Look For The Day : Sophie Attends A Day Wedding

c2

Look for the day!

A few weeks ago, was my uncle’s wedding. Well, he is almost as old as I am, add a few years to my age, but he’s my dad’s cousin! So he’s considered my uncle. It was a family affair, and a day wedding, so I carefully prepared my makeup and my get-up for the event.

For my makeup, now, don’t judge me – I really, really wanted to play with lighter shades, but I really feel that small eyes really look great with smoky eyed makeup. So there, I was about to sport a gold lid with a shimmery black contour, that changed last minute into a a brown smoky eyed look. Black shades nearing the lashline, gradually lightening up with deep brown, and shimmery brown as I go up my lids.

c5

For my blush, I used Sleek Contour Kit in Medium for that added dimension, and added Bobbi Brown’s Tawny shade ( it’s an earthy shade ) on top of the contour. By then, I was looking for some shimmer in my face already, so I found my Beauty & Minerals Mineral Blush in Buff Apricot and swiped it on my cheekbones.

For my lips, well, I was quite excited to use my new shade of lipstick, which is Inglot Matte Collection AMC Lip Pencil #11. The shade is a beautiful, beautiful coral shade, that is just so me! I asked Brigitte to get the most “me” Inglot lipstick as she travelled to Dubai a month ago, and she was definitely spot on! I’m so in love with this perfect shade, and expect to see it in more of my looks!

For my outfit, well, I would need to confess to you guys that I’m getting addicted to all things related to fashion lately. I love reading fashion blogs, and I love online shopping for clothes and shoes! *somebody help me this is getting addictive!* Though I am still not fashionable enough, I think that I am slowly molding my style.

I’ve found a gem on Facebook that sells really beautiful dresses – The Florence Fling. The styles are really feminine and chic, and I feel that the styles are classic and will not get outdated at all. I can even see myself wearing their dresses 10 years from now – oh please Sophie just please don’t balloon into a bigger size!

S1

Here’s me ( please ignore my eyes, they totally disappeared in the photo ) wearing one of The Florence Fling’s dresses – the Alexine Goddess dress in Matte Bronze.

Well, I really really enjoy formal affairs when I can dress up and do my own hair and makeup! I know it’s a tedious task to prepare, but I am loving every single moment of it!

Celebrating in Style With Sunsilk!

Post

Sunsilk has been a mainstay in my household as long as I could remember. It was the first brand that actually tamed my flyaway hair when I was in high school, as a good friend suggested the product to me and life was never quite the same. As the brand progressed, it kept getting better and better. It became the brand that I’d recommend to my clients to wash their makeup brushes with, as it has crazy-fabulous softeners that even animal hair can be softened like that! Sunsilk is one of the best shampoo brands, in my opinion, and I would always recommend it to people wanting soft, and sleek, frizz-free hair.

One tidbit for you – did you know that Sunsilk’s following in Facebook has reached its 1,000,000 mark? Yes, and it’s been months since it reached the highest number of fans in the Philippines. It only shows one thing, that Sunsilk, indeed, has touched so many lives ( or hair, for that matter, haha! ) and with the Hair Experts line that featured specially formulated products from the world’s hair experts ( Teddy Charles, Yuko Yamashita, to name some ), it has indeed gained more fans of the brand.

As a celebration for the Sunsilk Hair Experts’ Facebook page hitting the one million mark , they have conducted a 24-hour promotion wherein they invited fans to contribute congratulatory photos and videos. Everyone was given a Sunsilk gift pack, while the 50 most creative submissions were chosen, and were in for a treat – they were to be celebrities for a day with a makeover and a photoshoot! Well, ask me how fabulous this celebration was? I shall tell you, as we celebrated with Sunsilk, joining the 50 winners in a fun-filled makeover day! Continue reading

Beautynomics Lookbook: Wearing Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Kiss

CG3

I LOVE Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Kiss!

I’ve long professed my love for Covergirl Lip Perfection lipsticks, and I believe that I’ve purchase alot of their shades!

Let me share to you one of my favorite lippies as of late, Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Kiss.

As I’ve been on the lookout for that perfect, pearly light peach shade of lipstick that I used to admire in a brochure of a skin care brand, I believe I’ve found my perfect pearly peach lippie.

sophiekiss

In daylight, light-reflecting pearly elements from this shade cause some reflection, and make my lips bright and happy. I deem it most gorgeous, as it really makes my lips stand out without the bright colors necessary to do so. I just love this shade that I feel it’s so me, and it’s nice enough to wear on a daily basis. A major plus is Covergirl‘s winning lipstick formula – ultra moisturizing, and yet it stays on the lips. Although it doesn’t live up to its name ( it doesn’t look like I’ve been kissed. Hahaha! ), I’m totally happy with the shade!

Oh, I encourage girls who love peach lipsticks to try this one! This MUST be my favorite shade amongst all the colors from the Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipsticks!

Beautynomics Lookbook : Using VMV Hypoallergenics Skintelligent Beauty Makeup

DSC_5465

my makeup look using VMV Hypoallergenics Skintelligent Beauty Makeup

VMV Hypoallergenics has been part of my life, and it can be seen in this blog – dig in my archives ( articles here, and here ), and you’ll know that by the time I started to take my skin care seriously, I was using skin care products from VMV Hypoallergenics, specifically the Superskin 3 line for oily, acne-prone skin, and their Id line for my backne. ( sigh, my name should be Soph-ne, coz acne’s played such a huge part in my life! ). I love VMV Hypoallergenics, as by its name goes, it did not incite any allergic reaction from me as I have sensitive skin, but it is also backed by intensive research ( with dermatological papers, and all ) with all their products.

Beautynomics Lookbook : Wearing Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Fervor

covergirl-lip-perfection

The beauty blogs have spoken, and have unofficially crowned Covergirl as the runaway winner for the more affordable lipsticks out there, plus with great color payoff, and feel! I would have to agree with that, but before I enlist on why, let me tell you about Covergirl’s Lip Perfection Lipstick :

This season, COVERGIRL takes lip color to a whole new exciting level as it introduces the iconic and prestige-inspired Lip Perfection Bullet Lipstick and Liner – a family of bullets and liners that promise to deliver a new kind of lip transformation. Unlike traditional moisturizing lipsticks, COVERGIRL Lip Perfection Bullet Lipstick is enriched with Silk Therapy Complex, a moisturizing property that goes beyond application. It sustains moisture levels on the lips to actually improve lip condition over time.

Now, let me list down why it earns my vote as the best lipstick discovery of the year :
