Try Before You Buy with Sample Room Ph

I know, I’ve been quiet lately, so I think you, my Beautynomics readers, deserve an explanation.

This last quarter of 2012 has been the busiest year of my life. I’ve never been this busy, this lacking sleep, and this always skipping meals. But hello, would I trade the world for it? I certainly won’t!

Let me share with you what I’ve been very busy with :

Sample Room Cover

Sample Room. My baby.

Sample Room. Sample Room is a fruition of four friends’ advocacy for Tryvertising. Try before you buy. We want to give the power to the consumers. We want YOU having never to put your money on a product that you are unsure if it would work for you. We want YOU to get your money’s worth. Money is hard to earn nowadays, and we want to make sure that everyone’s happy with their beauty purchases.

A Browhaus Experience

If there’s one feature in my face that I’m quite particular about, it must be my eyebrows. It’s the first feature I look at ( sorry! teehee ), and I think eyebrows just make or break your look.

Sept 2007. My virgin eyebrows!!!!

I remember my first ever blog event that I documented – looking at my eyebrows- que horror! All thick, and all over the place! When I realized that my brows were bad news, and ruined my entire look ( there is nothing worse than a good eye makeup, and good over all makeup look with ungroomed eyebrows ruining it! ), I started having them groomed by having periodic threading sessions from the salons I frequent.

Once I was given the chance to be educated on shaping my eyebrows thru makeup school, I quickly took the chance to apply it on myself, and eventually, I began shaping my own eyebrows. It’s been a while since I’ve been doing that, actually. But then, I kinda missed my brows being groomed by another. Haha!

Top 10 Makeup Commandments by Paula Begoun

Paula Begoun, skin care expert and author of Don’t Go to The Cosmetics Counter Without Me, and owner of Beautypedia.com, has been kind enough to share to us her to ten makeup commandments, alongside with my notes:

1. Expensive Doesn’t Mean Better! There are good and bad products in all price categories, and there are brilliant inexpensive products you should absolutely consider before going for the expensive stuff.

Sophie’s Note : I do have to agree with this! I have one of my next posts as proof of this commandment!

2. Shop With A Clean Slate! If you plan to test foundation or concealer, visit the store or salon with a clean, bare face that’s prepped for makeup application, or be willing to take off the makeup you have on.

Sophie’s Note : so so true! what’s the use of applying a potentially good/bad foundation in terms of quality or shade if you already have something on? Bring your wipes!

My Pilgrimage to the MAC PRO Store in Canada

macgirl

NIRVANA!!!!!! I can cease to exist now that I’ve seen this! Oh wait. I want to go to the one in Toronto! That’s another goal!

…hahahaha! makeup mecca makeup mecca makeup mecca makeup mecca! ( I sound like a retard saying it over and over again, good thing that it’s only in my mind! )

MAC Cosmetics was founded in Toronto, Canada by Frank Toskan and Frank Angelo in 1984. The first U.S MAC store opened in 1991, located at Greenwich Village, New York.[1]
The company’s products were originally designed specifically for professional make-up artists, but are now sold to consumers worldwide.
Estée Lauder Companies acquired controlling interest of MAC in 1994, then completed their acquisition of the company in 1998.

Okay, MAC Cosmetics’ original homeland is in Canada, and with my trip there, who am I not to visit, and pay homage to one of the most popular makeup brands in the world?

Charm Goes Professional with The Charm PRO Makeup Brush Line!

charmpro

Sometimes, I think of Beautynomics as the older ( but very very pretty, still ) sister of Beauty & Minerals. After all, upon starting to beauty blog four years ago, I’ve been just obsessed about beauty products, and discovering what’s really really good, I opened Beauty & Minerals roughly a year after Beautynomics to offer to the market my prized beauty picks, that are not readily available in the country. As I went on enjoying my time giving consultations and making people get converted to mineral makeup with Beauty & Minerals, I also got smitten with makeup brushes. Thus, I’ve created my own line of makeup brushes, called Charm. Continue reading

And for this statement, Charice Pempengco fits the bill! Charice Pempengco is our country’s prized gem, as she makes our country proud with her amazing vocals, and accomplishments! Beauty Files : Rubi Before, and Rubi Now

I think this is ABS-CBN’s Valentine’s Day present for all of us – something draped in red, called Rubi.

Oh, how I loved the original Mexican telenovela Rubi with Barbara Mori as the red-lipped unmerciful, evil seductress. She is the Latina Megan Fox! Rubi became an instant hit, catapulting Barbara Mori into stardom!

Now, ABS-CBN is poising Angelica Panganiban for leading lady status by letting her play Rubi, in its Philippine adaptation.

Beauty at the Grammy Awards 2010 : Lea Michele

Lea Michele arrives at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards

Oooh, Glee! Did I mention that I’ve been addicted to Glee? I really love this series for I fondly reminisce highschool life ( no, I wasn’t part of the Glee club ), it makes me want to sing ( by myself, alone, that is ), and there are lots of songs from the 80′s being sung there. Take “Don’t Stop Believin`” by Journey, REO Speedwagon’s ” I Can’t Fight This Feeling,” etc. Oh, just my kinda music!

Ok, let me get the spotlight back to my favorite Glee girl Rachel Berry played by Lea Michele. Don’t you just love her dress? I do! I’m supposed to be concentrating on her makeup now, but I just need to show you her dress. It manages to make Lea look chic, and classy, and somehow on a cocktail level because of the skirt. I am totally digging it. She wins the Grammy Fashion Award, hands down!

and for her makeup,

Salon Day : Hair Blessing Clinic Treatment at Tony and Jackey Salon

Yesterday was just fabulous. Me and mom had a major bonding day at the Tony & Jackey Salon. Yes, that’s the way girls bond! We are both overworked since last year that we sort of neglected our salon visits, and I’m just so happy, that finally, we had a day set aside for us to have our hair pampered again! Thank God that Tony & Jackey, the Korean salon that I so love, already has a branch in NS Amoranto which is near our home, we don’t have to travel elsewhere to get great hair pampering!

Now, for the hair treatments, Im revealing mine first.

Having exposed to Clobex, my anti-allergy scalp shampoo, my hair was stripped off color, revealing my premature gray hair ( yes, I got it from my dad ). I was opting for a hair rebonding treatment with hair manicure ( to cover my gray ), but the stylist assigned to me felt that my hair was very dry, so she recommended their latest service called Hair Blessing Rebonding. Now, what is Hair Blessing?
