This summer, fresh scents are needed. Yes, needed.

Actually, I’m just making up an excuse. I love fresh, floral scents all year round. Even if the weather demands fragrances somewhat “warmer” to the senses, my fresh, floral scents are my default. See my undying love for DKNY Be Delicious Scents? There you have it.

When DKNY released its Pure line, I was absolutely psyched to have pureVerbena. It was my dream scent. It was so fresh and clean, and took me to the beautiful hills, ala Maria Von Trapp. I’ve been using this fragrance frequently as the bottle is almost empty. I’m sharing with you my official scent for summer and all my bright days ahead! It’s the limited edition Clinique Happy in Bloom.

Clinique Happy in Bloom is a fresh, frosty floral that opens up with notes of yellow plum, a cocktail of frozen fruit, and watery green notes for a crisp introduction. United Colors of Benetton has been that “aspirational” brand for me as a kid, way back in highschool and college. My classmates would have bags from Benetton, and would sport fragrances from them, and I think I got my first Benetton wallet when I could first afford it. The brand’s been there for the longest time.

Body mists – those were also part of me, growing up. When I was in high school, classmates would bring their bottles of body mists from imported brands, and I think I actually bugged mom ( and was successful at that ) to buy a bottle of my own, of course, with me choosing what I exactly wanted. In this area, it has to be YOU who has the affinity for the scent, and not just some “uso” or “in” thing. You’ll suffer for it if you choose the most popular scent, or worse, smell like everyone else!

Oh, Benetton, why did you release this just now? You could’ve contributed to an even more exciting childhood/teenagehood for me! Hahaha! Continue reading

Whenever I would ask for my bride-to-be friends of their dream wedding gowns, a number of them would answer, “made by Elie Saab.” Elie Saab must be one of the most in-demand couturiers right now, ask me why? I’ll ask the public why! It’s because of his taste, and his impeccable style, and vision in fashion! My taste in fashion would be timeless, and really feminine, and boy, does he fit the bill in every way! Oh wait, speaking of bill, there’s still alot to save up for an Elie Saab dress! Hahaha!

Kidding aside, Elie Saab, hailing from Beirut, Lebanon, did not have that instant fashion success, or that lineage that helped him with his career. It was his incredible talent, and unflinching will that paved the way to his glorious destiny. His first creation was a dress for his younger sister, and word spread about his extraordinary talent. I hold the brand Bvlgari in a high pedestal. That is, with men’s scents. Bvlgari Acqva is my dad’s chosen scent, and I would always buy him refills over and over again, with him choosing this fragrance over all the others I have let him try. Elegance in a bottle. Yes, Bvlgari can definitely capture elegance in a bottle.

I was given a chance to try a new scent from Bvlgari called Bvlgari Omnia Coral. By the term “coral,” I assume that it is a summer scent. It might be a spring scent for those in the temperate climate zones, but in my mind, a tropical girl, and in a tropical country we are living, I only have two words that differentiate times of the year – summer, and rainy season. I guessed that Omnia Coral was a summer scent, just by looking at its beautiful, mysterious pearly coral bottle that I held. Continue reading
