A Fun Afternoon Doing Makeup The Shiseido Way

A few weeks ago, I had so much fun at Shiseido’s event that was for beauty bloggers, and members of the press. At the Ampitheatre of Greenbelt 5, the guest of honor was no other than the Regional Training Manager for Asia, Ms. Angela Boh. She was there to teach us makeup tips and tricks!

Classroom style!

I’m ready for this! We also have materials!

Angela Boh did a makeup demo on applying makeup, the Shiseido way. What I learned from this demo, was that you need to layer foundation little by little if you want more coverage, and not slap a thick pack of it in an instant just because you need alot of coverage. She was also able to use the famed Shiseido Perfect Foundation Brush, an angled flat top brush, to apply almost everything, from liquid foundation, to applying powder foundation, and even blush on! The key is control on your hands. Apply with even, medium strokes for liquid products, and apply feather-light for powder products, and blend well. I also got a trick that for fuller, and a beautiful mascara application, while the mascara wand is on the base of the eyelashes, let it stay there for 5 seconds or so, to make the base darker, and make the eyes more well-defined. Japanese makeup is really different from Western makeup, as the key is really a flawless canvass ( the face ), and the features would merely be well-defined in the most subtle, natural manner. Don’t be fooled by the word “subtle,” as there are alot of tricks to bring out one’s features naturally!

Wow, things are finally getting excited in my social life! Haha! Kidding aside, beauty blogging events = social life because beauty bloggers are good friends of mine, and I really do love hanging out with them.

Pond’s Institute Launch in Manila

A few weeks ago, just when I was having the busiest days of my life ( my best friend’s wedding!!! ), I was able to attend the Pond’s Institute Launch in SM Mall of Asia. They had on-site consultations, skin analysis, and some free skin services there.

So, happy 150 years to Pond’s, and 20 years, to the Pond’s Institute!!!

What I know of is that they have the prestigious Pond’s Institute in Shanghai, and I think that they made a makeshift one here in Manila for celebrating Pond’s milestone in the Philippines. I mean, come on, even our grandmothers swear by Pond’s Cold Cream!

MAC Cosmetics Opens in Cebu and Glitter & Ice Collection Launch

DSC_5863

MAC Cosmetics has a new home in Ayala, Cebu!

Cebu will always have that soft spot in my heart, as I have fallen in love with it the moment I landed in that lovely island (thanks, Dee!) The surroundings are very laid back and I don’t feel any stress there, the people are beautiful (I would have to insist!), the resorts are very nice ( I LOVE Mactan Shangri-la ), and most of all, it’s a food heaven there. Yes, heaven, heaven heaven is CNT and Rico’s Lechon, Cafe Laguna, and so much more!

But now, it is slowly becoming a heaven for beauty lovers, as MAC Cosmetics had their official launch last Thursday there! I am so sure that alot of Cebuanos/Cebuanas were really excited about this as I have friends from there who love MAC Cosmetics and still buy them from Manila, and even abroad. Now, they don’t need to leave their homebase to get their beauty fix! I’m so happy for Cebu, I’m so happy for beauty lovers in Cebu!

Now, I need to thank MAC Cosmetics for taking me and Shen with them during their launch in Cebu to join their celebration! That also marked the day of the official launch of MAC Cosmetics’ Holiday Collection – Glitter & Ice. Let me tell you about the event through photos, shall we?

All Dolled Up Makeup Studio Opens in Cebu!

026

the very posh All Dolled Up Makeup Studio

It all started with makeup palettes. I’d see a tastefully crafted booth during the Rockwell bazaars that I’d join that sells makeup palettes. I was quite envious of how beautiful and professional the booth looked like. Then, through communication in Facebook, I eventually got to know the woman behind Dollface Cosmetics, Pearl Sarcauga, a determined, and power-businesswoman only in her early twenties. We’d hang out from time to time in each other’s booths to chitchat and catch up when she flies to Manila to join bazaars.

But now, it gives me so much pride to see that Pearl’s dream has come true with All Dolled Up Makeup Studio – Cebu’s first makeup studio geared towards makeup artists for their supplies, and even for makeup enthusiasts who are interested in makeup, to have their makeup done there, and even makeup workshops! I was with Pearl a few weeks before the opening to visit her and the place ( oh, gorgeous, I tell you! ) in its pre-opening phase, and now, it’s open already, and ready to do business with you sassy makeup lovers in Cebu!

Glambox Airbrush Workshop with Askmewhats & Beautynomics

The Glambox Airbrush Workshop

It’s been a while since makeup school, and it’s definitely been a while since I’ve done makeup. I actually miss it. Those were the carefree days that I can let my creativity go wild and free, and just play with makeup to my heart’s content.

I chose a strange path- post-makeup school, I’ve decided to keep my day job doing sales for a printing press, and I have put in almost all of my beauty energy in my beauty business, which is Beauty & Minerals, with a growing brand, Charm ( makeup brushes ). I’ve used my passion and what I’ve learned from all the precious mentors that I’ve come studied under to create makeup brushes, just the way I like them. But then, I must admit that I get excited when I have a makeup gig, or moreso, a teaching engagement, as I really do love teaching makeup alot.

A few weeks ago, Nikki and I taught airbrush makeup, thanks to Glambox Airbrush Cosmetics. They held a contest in which 30 lucky winners would get to attend our airbrush workshop. It was really an honor to be approached by Valerie of Glambox as one of the beauty bloggers/instructors for the day. And boy, do I miss my airbrushing already! Continue reading

Pond’s White Beauty Naturals Launch

P1150338

say hello to smoky-eyed Achie Rowena by the enchanted tree!

Last week, I had the privilege of walking in an enchanted garden, courtesy of Ponds. Whoever designed the place is just plain genius, I tell you!

We were just told to come in eco-chic attire, and were given plants as invites. We were hinted that it was something “organic” or “natural” that is to be launched. Continue reading
