Lipsticks Can Tell You If An Economy’s Doing Good, or Bad!

Did I say that Mac Fafi was just love? *sighs*

Move over GNP, GDP, and even Consumer Price Index! All I need is the lipstick sales of the Estee Lauder Group of Companies, and I shall tell you what the economy’s health is, right here, right now!

Oops, I was just plain kidding. But really, I’m not absolutely joking about it – because from an article I read last week from the New York Times, there is indeed a relationship between lipstick sales and an economy’s health – and it’s inversely related. Beauty companies have noticed that lipstick ( or lipwear – like gloss and lacquers for that matter ) sales had skyrocketed during economic downturns.

Why Wearing Sunscreen Gives You Economies of Scale

sunscreen economies of scale Whew! It’s been a long time since I’ve written a Beautynomic article, but okay, my creative juices are starting to bug me again to write something of this nature, and voila! this article. =)

Since it’s nearing summer in the Northern Hemisphere, I’d like to discuss the beautynomic (beauty and economic ) importance of wearing sunscreen.

Okay, so what exactly is economies of scale? According to Economics for International Students, it is defined as,

“Economies of scale occur when long-run average costs are falling as output is increasing. There are different causes of economies of scale. “

Okay, now, let’s associate economic terms with beauty terms here. Long Run Average Costs in Economics term, is the running cost per unit per item , and in the beauty world, I am choosing to associate it with daily expenses, in the name of beauty, namely having dermatological treatments, cosmetic surgery, or buying more skin products.

Ivory Moisturizing Body Wash

ivory body washI’ve totally lost control over the groceries ever since I’ve been busy with work. My bath supplies have long depleted, and thanks to my bath product addict of a mom ( whom I’ve been talking about – she loves body oils and body wash the most ), I still have some body wash to use whenever I take my shower for God forbid, I haven’t used a regular soap bar for ages! ( the massage soap bar I got wasn’t “regular”! Haha! ). My current body wash? The Ivory Moisturizing Body Wash in Aloe Vera scent.

Makeup For Camouflaging Stress

stressSigh, work has been toxic lately as the ber months have shifted the demand curve at another level. That always happens! People tend to want to purchase alot of stuff as early as now, and spending power is really high. Well, since everyone has saved up from January to August, and are prepared to splurge their savings for the merry months! Businesses pick up, and overtime from work starts. Same goes with moi.

Stress sometimes can’t be helped, and it really shows. In the skin. Skin becomes dull, and skin looks tired. I have a few suggestions of products that can try to hide your stress, though the best remedy is to stuff your system with fruits and water! Continue reading

Kerastase Oleo Relax Anti-Frizz Serum

This week is “favorite products” week. In the name of styling products, Kerastase Oleo Relax Anti-Frizz Serum is numero uno for me!

Kerastase is one of those brands wherein you don’t mind spending more because you know the results you will get from using their products will be more than satisfactory. It’s one of those high-end brands which doesn’t disappoint you why they charge higher. In Economics, products like these don’t adopt “price differentiation” and compete in terms of prices. Kerastase adopts a quality-related differentiation. Their prices are higher than the normal hair care brand, but they offer a “premium” with Recherche Avancee ( high technology based research straight from their labs in Paris ) for their hair care products.

Know Your Skin Tone : Are You Warm, or Cool ?

color Knowing your skin tone is one of the most imporant things to know because your life depends on it. I mean, if you would always want to look fabulous, you have to know this fundamental law of beauty and fashion. It’s got nothing to do if you’re a “warm” wicked woman or a “cool” chick. It’s simply sticking to your natural skin tone, and making the most out of it by sticking to the shades that you’d look great in! Otherwise, it’s simply a death toll for you. You would NOT want to underutilize your natural beauty, right?

Pick of the Week : Seikisho cleansing Oil

If you’re looking for that great alternative to THE popular cleansing oil, then Seikisho Cleansing Oil would definitely give you great results without splurging too much.

Get the same effect, with a lower price tag. How cool can that be? A perfect substitute, as economists say.

Japanese skin care brand Kose has come up with this impressive makeup remover that draws out impurities, removes makeup, without the drying effects.

Unique oriental ingredients include Pigeon Wheat Essence, Sunflower Oil, and Apricot Seed Oil Extract. Unlike other cleansing oils, they don’t dry up the skin. Skin is smoother, softer, and more radiant !

Overall, I love using this to remove my makeup.

Nu Colour Contouring Lipgloss – Plump Lips Without the Sting

I have always been scared of lip-plumping products because they offer trade-offs of some sort. Yes, the economic term trade-offs, wherein you get something, but you lose something too.

Tradeoff in the sense that I get full, plump lips, but my lips sting like hell. *Sob*

My latest discovery, Nu Colour Contouring lipgloss, promises to make lips well-defined , and give proper definition without the sting. As described on the website,

Kiss thin, undefined lips goodbye with Nu Colour® Contouring Lip Gloss for full, shapely, youthful looking lips.
