My Love Affair Never Ends With Clinique Chubby Sticks, Now Intense!

clinique3

my growing collection of Clinique Chubby Sticks. Missing two, they’re just there..somewhere. hahaha!

Clinique Chubby Sticks, how I love thee. I love thee with thy greatest love…

Okay stop. I’m not a poet. I was just illustrating on how much I love Clinique Chubby Sticks!

It just has to be the best invention in the lip color world! I’ve been whining far too long about lip products that give out great color, but are drying on the lips. Oh, my lips can be chapped at times, and it just shows, specially when you apply color on them!

Clinique invented such a great lip product and truly listened to its consumers. It fulfilled all my fantasies of a perfect lip product :

* Natural, luscious-looking lip color
Okay, I do have those moods when I only wear really basic makeup, and I’d love to pull off that natural look. Clinique Chubby Sticks give you that your lips-but-better look! Continue reading

Clinique Happy In Bloom and Summer Are A Perfect Pair

Happy in Bloom 30 and 50ml 2013 edition

I SO love this scent! Clinique Happy in Bloom is one of my greatest finds ever!

Hello everyone!

I’m sharing with you my official scent for summer and all my bright days ahead! It’s the limited edition Clinique Happy in Bloom.

Clinique Happy in Bloom is a fresh, frosty floral that opens up with notes of yellow plum, a cocktail of frozen fruit, and watery green notes for a crisp introduction. Notes of muguet, white freesia and a mimosa accord from the original Happy, lend a tactile nuance of petals. Transparent amber and white wood provide depth with a natural feminine softness.

Scuba Diving Is My New Love, and Summer Essentials For Sea Adventures!

johnong1

ugh, look at my hair here, and my bare face! Funny, I still managed to pose! =))))

Perhaps this must be my most unglamorous photos in my entire life being posted in public, but somehow, I don’t mind. I was surprised at myself with that reaction, with me, having that need to always look good and presentable anywhere. I think I know why I didn’t mind being part of a Dealgrocer ad, with my hair all disheveled, and drenched in hair-killing saltwater, and me sans the makeup and even my eyebrows ( ack!!! diving after one hour erases even the most waterproof eyebrow makeup! ) .

johnong2

makeup-less, but I am at my happiest. One of those times when I say, “I don’t care how I look like.” I’m happy playing Little Mermaid underwater, with my tank and paraphernalia. Hahahaha!

I am happy. Scuba diving makes me really, really happy. Continue reading

Sometimes, Having a Tanned Complexion is Better

raisin2

peek-a-boo!

This is me, sharing with you my look of the day, as I was just being vain me, taking photos of myself with the iPhone camera, when I realized that my skin was tanned for the day. I didn’t actually realize it until I saw this photo, and I might attribute it to my diving trip last weekend. The weather at Puerto Galera was really sunny, and even with sunblock, the glaring sun would just cause the skin to go darker. Who’s complaining? I’m actually loving my tanned complexion now. I feel, I look healthier. There’s so much warmth to my skin. That makes me excited for summer! Hahaha! I love it that I am able to switch from fair-skinned to tan-skinned and pull off both complexions just quite okay. I also have foundation shades that are light, and even darker, for that purpose.

To share with you my look for the day, here are the makeup products that I used :

Clinique Chubby Sticks : Beautiful Lips, Anytime!

DSC_8376

This is considered a sneak peak about my travel entry about Melbourne, Australia, which will happen in a few days!

As I was preparing for a long trip ( a week’s worth, the most time I can afford this part of the year, ) , I was taking in consideration the weather. Melbourne was going to be cold. I would usually just bring one really versatile shade of lipstick for my lipcolor, and that’s it. But then, I was afraid that I’d have really dry lips! It was just in time that Clinique sent me a pack of their Clinique Chubby Sticks for roadtest, that well, I brought the entire pack to Melbourne! It’s too funny, but somehow, I felt at peace by bringing these babies, as I love Clinique lip products!

In a nutshell, let me tell you about my observations about the Clinique Chubby Sticks :

* They look like cute crayons! I feel like using a pen applying this on my lips!

* They apply sheerly on the lips, but really give the lips a beautiful, really natural color. It’s as if you have luscious, kissable lips. No opaque color here. In effect, this is perfect for that natural look, when you’re just going out to the mall, having a fun day out, or travelling! You wouldn’t need heavy makeup for travelling, but either way, you still need to look good, and this fits the bill. Haha!

* It does not make the lips chap or dry, as it keeps the lips moisturized, and adds more moisture to the lips. I like this aspect of it! No tight lips, or chapping lips by midday.

DSC_8188

me, not wearing any lipcolor. I don’t like it!!!

* This is my choice for lazy-lips-but-need-some-color-day. I just realized than in photos, if I don’t have lipcolor, I look like a ghost. Continue reading

Beautynomics Review : Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Line

Pore Refining Solutions (1)

Of all the luxury brands out there, I consider Clinique as the brand with the best skincare. Knowing me, being someone heavily relying on dermatological products for my skin, Clinique is one of the store-sold brands that I just really trust. Actually, it’s just almost Clinique that I trust! I just love the Clinique 3-Step System, from the facial wash, to the toner, to the moisturizer, that I am excited to share with you what’s new with Clinique!

This July, Clinique Philippines launches its Pore Refining Solutions Line. This line aims to target oily skinned individuals who also happen to have enlarged pores. Ahhh. I bet alot of you can relate, because this happens to alot of people!

The Clinique Pore Refining Solutions line aims to keep our pores clean, refined ( hence, smaller ), leaving skin looking “refined” and fresh. Whew, some hope! I feel ( from personal experience, of course ) that having enlarged pores is not a good feeling. I feel that oil squirts from my face ( haha! ) and my skin is uneven in texture and it’s not smooth in texture. I was told by my dermatologist that pore refining products are a bit tricky, because only chemical peels or resurfacing can truly refine pores. So I am intrigued what Clinique has to offer to address this concern. Challenge mode, ON!

So, I shall introduce you to each of the Pore Refining Solutions products and give you my honest take on them!

Skincare Question Answered : All About Oily Skin!

Hello Ms. Beautynomics, could you help me with my problem? I’m turning 19 years old next week, and I want to get rid of my super oily skin, specially when it’s hot. My face feels sticky when I’m in school. I want to ask, what’s the best skin care product for oily skin?
- Colegiala

Dear Colegiala,

First of all, let me just tell you, that I experienced exactly the same thing when I was in college! My skin was really, really, really oily ( crazy oily ). I would also congratulate you, that you have oily skin, because in the long run, you will love your skin type. Your skin will not wrinkle easily like ther skin types. Those who have dry skin have the danger of wrinkling easily, and oily skinned people are the last to be affected by it. Woot!

On to the solution – I remember, what I did before, was have a minty facial wash in travel size with me, to wash my face when I feel really icky and greasy. I also hoarded packs of oil blotting sheets from Gatsby before for the purpose. But here are my picks of products that I can recommend to you to make having oily skin bearable. Take note that I have put two options – a “Splurge” option if you are willing to spend for skin care, or a “Save” option that is budget-friendly. Depends on you!

Splurge Option

A tweaked Clinique 3-Step System

For oily skin, I deem Clinique the best skin care, and the brand is great for those who would want to have their first skin care brand gentle, and yet effective. My best bet is for you to go to your nearest Clinique counter ( Rustans Shangri-la, Glorietta, Gateway? ) and have your skin diagnosed, but here’s an initial recommendation for those who have oily skin :

Facial Wash : Clinique Liquid Facial Soap for Oily Skin

What I love about it : It leaves your skin squeaky clean! For oily skin, the most important thing is to avoid creamy cleansers. Those milky ones, those creamy ones. They won’t be able to clean your skin off the oil and dirt. Stick to water-based ones, just like this. I love Clinique’s Liquid Facial Soap for Oily Skin that it effectively removes the oil and dirt that I’ve accumulated thru the day, and yet my skin does not feel tight. That’s another important thing. You don’t want your skin too tight or overcleansed, it might trigger more oil production, making your skin oilier. Look for something just right. Just like this. Beautynomics Review : Clinique Even Better Foundation SPF 15

cliniqueevenbetter

I was one of the many devastated girls when Clinique Superfit Foundation was discontinued. I was like – ahhhh!! This was the best foundation, ever! But moving on, I was introduced to Clinique Even Better Foundation SPF 15. My initial reactions were, meh, this will never live up to Superfit’s legend, but then life must go on, right? I decided to give it a shot, and try it for a few months.

New Even Better Foundation SPF15 oil free formula, a powerful foundation developed to help combat hyper-pigmentation and deliver brighter skin, both immediately and over time. Includes treatment benefits to help even skin tone and SPF protection to help prevent future hyper-pigmentation. Provides moderate to full coverage, leaving skin instantly perfected with a unique mineral blend.

So after 3 months, what can I say about it?
