Beautynomics Review : Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow Stick in Vanilla

bobbi brown long wear shadow stick

I really love eyeshadow primers. They’re just the idea of heaven for those who have oily lids like me. Heck, even my eyebrows have oil glands that I need really waterproof eyebrow pens, eyeliners, and even eyeshadow primers. I need makeup products to stay put, and trust me, it’s not cheap. I think my skin’s just too demanding and challenging. *pouts*

For reference, before we go further, I’m defining what eyeshadow primers are. Eyeshadow primers are what you apply on your lids just right before you apply your eyeshadow, to make the eyeshadow “stick” to the primer, and remain there, preventing oxidation, and oiling up of lids which can make the eyeshadow run all over your lids ( which is messy ). Eyeshadow primers can actually be concealer, but they’re just too moisturizing. A good eyeshadow primer is usually sort of a cream with not much moisture, a bit dry, to help the eyeshadow just stick on the lids, and just stay put there. For me, it’s imperative to get one if you’re into eye makeup. It gives you security!

I’ve been using Urban Decay Primer Potion, and as much as I love it, and I know how effective it is, I can’t help but have some difficulty getting it in the Philippines. It’s also a bit hard and sorta tricky to blend eyeshadows with the Primer Potion. But then, I’ve always thought that it’s the only thing that works, so I just stayed faithful to it for years. I’ve had tubes of Urban Decay Primer Potion all used up and some just dried from time, I think I’ve used more than 5 tubes in this lifetime already.

But then something came along that made me change my mind about things.

Yes, this! The Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow Stick in Vanilla is my new HG Eyeshadow Primer. Continue reading

Sometimes, Having a Tanned Complexion is Better

raisin2

peek-a-boo!

This is me, sharing with you my look of the day, as I was just being vain me, taking photos of myself with the iPhone camera, when I realized that my skin was tanned for the day. I didn’t actually realize it until I saw this photo, and I might attribute it to my diving trip last weekend. The weather at Puerto Galera was really sunny, and even with sunblock, the glaring sun would just cause the skin to go darker. Who’s complaining? I’m actually loving my tanned complexion now. I feel, I look healthier. There’s so much warmth to my skin. That makes me excited for summer! Hahaha! I love it that I am able to switch from fair-skinned to tan-skinned and pull off both complexions just quite okay. I also have foundation shades that are light, and even darker, for that purpose.

To share with you my look for the day, here are the makeup products that I used :

What’s New : Bobbi Brown Skin Perfecting Retouching Powder

bb01

“Retouching Powders instantly make your skin look better — yet they’re completely undetectable.”
– Bobbi Brown

Bobbi Brown…did not just claim…that this new product is magic! It’s such a bold claim. But, I believe in it! How could I not? Her under eye concealers did just that to me – magic! Seriously!

Can I be more joyful in reporting to you this new product from Bobbi Brown? As a super Bobbi Brown girl that I am, I love her products because Bobbi Brown’s pegs for makeup are more on natural, elegant, and sophisticated. They aim to make you look your best version of you, and not changing a thing or getting it overdone. I am just so in sync with her philosophy and her products!

As for finishing powders, I LOVE them with all my heart. When you have oily skin, first thing you should know is that you’re not supposed to blame it on your liquid foundation, or pressed foundation if they don’t control oil and make your skin like an oil mine. For me, that job goes to your primer that is worn before makeup, and the finishing powder worn after all makeup is applied, to “finish” and “set” the look. Two products that “sandwich” the foundation will definitely make all that difference.

Beautynomics Review : Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lip Color in Calypso

BOBBIBROWNMATTE2

For every phase in our life, our taste levels change.

I’m not exactly eighteen, but I do remember what kind of makeup I loved when I was eighteen – luscious pink lipglosses, baby pink lipsticks, and eventually progressing to pale pinks, beautiful peaches, but never bordering on the dark and bold lip. I have tried them one at a time, but I was never convinced to stay and keep my lips that way. Last year was my “lip color” coming of age. I finally succumbed into solid lipcolor, eventually liking solid, matte lipcolors.

Matte lipsticks? My key word is Scarlett Johanson from the Black Dahlia. Solid color, full lips. Amplified definition. Ultra sexy. If you think that the opposite of luscious, glossy lips are matte and flat lips, think again. Matte lips are classic lips. They will never, ever go out of style.

I thank the heavens for fantastic formulas of my favorite lipstick brands, and one of my favorite nowadays is Bobbi Brown‘s newly launched Creamy Matte Lip Colors. The formula’s really creamy, easy to spread, and there’s instant coverage in one sweep ( and another one to make everything even ) . The formula is also non-drying, that it did not cause my lips to dry and chap, unlike that of other brands that I have tried years ago ( technology is really my BFF, I tell you! ), so for those who have dry lips and still want to pull off a full, matte lip, Bobbi Brown has the perfect formula for you. Imagine, a really complete Bellini Lip & Eye Palette? Well-coordinated Rich Caviar and Black Pearl Palettes? Super-gorgeous Uber Nude Lip & Eye Palette? Bobbi Brown Desert Twilight Collection

DESERT_TWILIGHT___MODEL_SHOT

“Sun-swept nudes and pinks evoke a beautiful late summer glow.” – Bobbi Brown

Bobbi’s new Desert Twilight Collection combines soft hues with bright color. Offering a pop of Southwestern inspired turquoise against a backdrop of sun-swept rose, plum and bronze shades; the collection is playful yet wearable.

There’s something about the sun that evokes such an alluring, and sexy vibe into it. It is definitely even more beautiful, with the sun, joining with the gorgeous desert as the background. I’m thinking “earthen glow.” Reminds me of sunkissed beauty. I love such natural, sunkissed, healthy glow! That is probably why Bobbi Brown’s Desert Twilight Collection is poised to be one of the bestselling collections of the year – that I had to fight my way for a reservation for something in this collection! ( and I encourage you to be on the lookout yourself, as my source says they will sell out fast! )

Here are the products included in the Bobbi Brown Desert Twilight Collection :

Bobbi Brown Spring 2012 Long-Wear Eye Collection : From Coffee to Cocktails Without Smudging!

Screen shot 2012-08-02 at 3.48.19 PM

I LOVE wearing makeup. No doubt about that. That explains the existence of this blog, amongst all things! Haha! I love wearing full makeup, as I really enjoy playing with makeup to come up with a good look for events. But sometimes, I also happen to choose what kind of makeup is suited for the occasion. Just like for everydays, or maybe a long day out, I would want to look polished and pretty, but I’m just too afraid that my makeup won’t stay all day, so I just keep it light, and I bring my necessary makeup items for retouch.

I could just sadly remember one night event I attended, me feeling not too pretty because I had to wear simple makeup as I delivered my brushes to three branches that entire afternoon, as I feared my event makeup would smudge. I wasn’t able to go home to do my makeup, and I didn’t even have the strength to do my makeup at the end of the day so I just went with little, but clean makeup. But I felt really washed out. Sigh.

But just take a look at Bobbi Brown’s current spring collection! The Pro Long-wear Collection promises beautiful, long-lasting makeup that would last from coffee to cocktails! This collection promises your makeup to look good all day long, minus the smudging, creasing, and wearing off! Sounds like something for me!

Let’s take a look at the items included in this collection! Continue reading

Beautynomics Review : Bobbi Brown Long-wear Even Finish Foundation SPF 15

bobbibrownlongwear

A few weeks ago, I was handed over my new bottle of Bobbi Brown Long-wear Even Finish Foundation SPF 15 for review. It was such great timing, as my favorite Bobbi Brown Skin Finish Foundation has been used up already. I really loved Bobbi Brown Skin Finish Foundation with its really light consistency, good, buildeable coverage, and really gorgeous finish on the skin.

Now, I’m giving Bobbi Brown’s new foundation a chance. I wonder, will it perform just like its very very impressive Bobbi Brown Skin Finish Foundation?

Bobbi Brown Long-wear Even Finish Foundation SPF 15 is described as,

Finally – a natural looking and long-wearing foundation. Ultra comfortable and hydrating, this medium to full coverage formula leaves skin looking poreless, perfected, and fresh up to 12 hours even in the most humid conditions. Includes broad spectrum UVA/UVB SPF15 for daily protection against future damage.

So, as I was roadtesting it, let me tell you how it fared!
