What’s New in the Organic Beauty Scene : Mir & Ryvi Home of Organics Soaps

group-products

When it comes to bath products, hands down, organic products win my heart big time. I love the smell of handmade soaps, and how close their smell is to nature, that I really, really enjoy my showers because of organic soaps!

Who’s the new player in the organic block? It’s Mir & Ryvi!

“We are committed to bringing you the best beauty care products that are naturally formulated and proven safe and effective, while contributing to the development of sustainable local livelihoods.”

“We have conducted intensive research across the globe, consulted with experts and carefully selected suppliers to make sure that we ony use the best plat-based ingredients and essential oils. In the Philippines, we only source our raw fruits and vegetables from organic farms, such as OCCP-certified Laguna Organic Farm and Products. We combine these extracts with other plant-based extracts from abroad, whose effects are scientifically verified and published in scientific journals.”

“We have formulated the best combination of ingredients.”

Sounds good to me! Aside from that, Mir & Ryvi is a brand not just going with the “organic bandwagon,” but really, reiterating their choice to use organic ingredients of synthetic ingredients,

We champion organic extracts not only because they are good for the environment and livelihood of the farmers but also because scientific studies show that organically grown fruits and vegetables have more nutrients than their synthetically grown counterparts. We thus continually foster long term relationships with farmers of organic products.

With that, I am much, much excited to use my products that I feel that are from freshly grown fruits! Mir & Ryvi has three of their best soaps offered to the market, which are available at Beauty Bar. They narrowed down their product line to their three best products,

Reminiscing My Snoe Beauty Filled Summer

snoe1

Picture gone all wrong. Quikpod showing, and Sharlyn on the phone! But it’s quite a cute goofy shot, don’t you think?

Summer. I’m usually speechless, or quiet about summer, as I choose to spend the time closing my eyes, feeling the warmth of the sun, hearing the crash of the waves, the whispering caresses of the wind while I’m at sea. I live for summer, I am a tropical person, I would gladly choose the beach over a cold place. I can live in the beach for the rest of my days, if I’m lucky. Being born during the Summer Solstice, the first day of summer, and the longest day of the year, it figures why I’m such a beach lover.

For Summer 2012, I am praising the sun with my new allies from Snoe Beauty. These babies have won my heart ever since I have checked their booth during the Rockwell Moonlit Bazaar last December. Now, I just find myself hoarding stuff whenever I visit their branch in Cinderella at Glorietta!

I went on a quick beach trip with my family to Mactan, Cebu during one idle weekend. Cebu is one of my favorite places, with its laid back charm, and my favorite resort, Mactan Shangri-la!

presenting…my beach allies for Summer 2012!!! Snoe Beauty is LOVE.

Here are my beach buddies, and let me tell you how they have helped me enjoy my summer!

New Block & White Naturals Whitening Lotions!

Block and White

Just recently, I was given a chance to try the new whitening lotions of Block & White, a brand recently acquired by Unilever. It had a major revamp, and I was just so curious about it as Block & White is actually the pioneer in whitening in the Philippines! Do you think of me as someone into whitening? Well…sometimes, I am, sometimes, I’m not, so I definitely have whitening products on my vanity table depending on my mood! The new naturals line of Block & White are formulated with 3x whitening actives, with sun protection, and the lightest consistency available.

It has three variants, with my notes on them : Continue reading

Silka Premium Whitening Body Wash in Green Papaya and Papaya

silka

Okay, here I am ranting about summer again. How ungrateful, right? Hahaha! I will always be thankful for beautiful sunshine, but to be honest, give me summer forever, but let me live in the beach! In the city, I feel like I’m about to faint with the heat, and the fumes, oh, don’t get me started!

So, the next best thing to going to beaches? The next best thing to cooling off such endless warmth with refreshing, cold beach water? Taking wonderful showers! Haha!

I have so much bath products in the shower this summer season, me being all eager to try them, as it is my favorite activity to do as of late! Haha! My new friends? Silka Premium Whitening Body Wash! Continue reading

Beautynomics Review : Venus and Mars Bare It All Emu Cream

vm6

my new favorite!

As I love organic bath products so much, let me just say that I’m a huge Venus and Mars Naturals fan. I’ve seen them grow from a startup brand joining bazaars into a skin care brand that people really trust. Their unique ingredient, emu oil, is indeed a wonder oil that it has countless benefits, being anti-inflammatory, and a wound-healing ingredient. It also does not clog pores, which is great for acne-prone skin.

As Emu Oil (rare as it is as its source is from Australia ) is a wonder ingredient in skin care, Venus and Mars have formulated their products revolving around this wonder ingredient. They have hair products, soaps, and body products. I’ve been using their line for sometime now, and let me introduce to you to a new love of mine – their Bare It All Emu Cream. Continue reading

Rave Alert : Nivea Express Hydration Body Lotion

NBD_101001_ExpressHydrationLotion_250ml

Just recently, I have been awakened to the world of intensive body care, because I woke up with that thought planted in my head. No, I’m kidding.

Ever since I was influenced by my friend Janice, and tried whitening body treatments at Ellen’s Aesthetic Center ( I shall tell you more about it next time! ), I was really enlightened in the fact that I should be taking care of my body – not just the face, but my body as well. I’m that kind of girl who just uses body wash and enjoys dry skin, but this time, I was given the chance to see what I have actually done to myself – dry skin all over, and some occasional uneven skin tone brought about by going to the beach and just letting my color fade away, well, just stopping to see all of this did not give me a good feeling. Thus, I am undergoing some treatments that seek out to even out my skin tone and all that.

Anyway, remember how phobic I am with lotions? Yes, I still am, specially with those really thick, gooey moisturizers. I am still unable to sacrifice my sanity for those. I am thanking God right now that there are more bearable body lotions in the market that are less greasy, less fragrant ( I might be fond of scent-y body washes but I am not too much with lotions- but lemongrass and lavender might be an exception haha! ), and with maximum moisturizing effects. Yes, just like my past posts, I have always been seeking products that work like magic, an impossible person I am to please (haha!) and I’m glad that I have found my miracle body lotion in Nivea Express Hydration Body Lotion.

Nivea Express Hydration is Nivea’s latest body lotion that promises to eradicate and address the 7 signs of dryness, namely : Dry, rough, unsmooth, tight, flaky, dull, itchy, peeling. ( Were they thinking about me? )

For beauty nerds like me, you might want to read about the science behind this remarkable product, backed up by technology that earned a Nobel Prize. Continue reading

Trying Out the Bipolar Treatment at Ellen’s Aesthetic Center

ellens

I absolutely thank the heavens for letting me be born circa 1980s ( hahaha not telling which year exactly! ) and not in the 1800s. I am really, really, really thankful ( you have no idea! I say thank you everyday! ) that I am able to see the beauty of modern technology do wonders in everything including well, my personal vested interest – beauty.

Ask me if I’m for plastic surgery – I’m not really against it ( I pronounce my firm, and strong “go” for people who are brave enough to do that to help boost their self image and self esteem ), but I need to be honest and tell you that I’m afraid of anything that requires a knife, or any foreign object to be residing inside my body. At most, I am for non-invasive treatments that somehow enhance how we look. I just told you this because when a friend of mine asked me if I am open for liposuction, or any augmentation of some sorts, I could not bring myself to say yes as I do not feel, and see the need to have it now, but I told her that in the future, I would not know what I need, I might actually go for it, so let’s just leave it there, with a plain no for now.

My Pamper Day at Ellen’s Aesthetic Center

IMG_0409

I knew it. This bathtub was waiting for me. Haha!

It was one lazy Saturday that I was feeling the need for pampering and de-stressing, that I entered Ellen’s Aesthetic Center for a day’s worth of pampering. To be honest, Ellen’s exuded that “old” feel that mature people would walk in to, because it’s been the oldest, if not, one of the oldest aesthetics/facial center in the country, boasting of 30 years in the market already. I honestly did not know what to expect, but I was open to experience anything ( like – wow me! )

Janice of Ellen’s Aesthetic Center had the day planned for me for a day’s worth of pampering and experiencing what Ellen’s Aesthetic Center was all about. First was an Ofuro Akasuri Treatment which was a relaxing beauty bath, with some body scrubbing that claimed to get rid of all the “libag” ( or a trial translation in English would be “skin dirt” or skin debris” ) on the skin surface. Well, I was so game for it! I was asked to change in a bathrobe, and escorted into this room, which had a shower bath, a flat bed, and ultimately, a bath tub!

I’m Raving About A Mystery Body Lotion!

ATT68640 1

I’ve got a secret,
It’s time for me to tell that you’ve been keeping me warm
-Corrs, Summer Sunshine

I have a confession.

I’m really not into lotions.

Isn’t it evident? I don’t blog much about them, but I do – I get to give them a chance for a week, but sometimes, even if they’re good, and do my skin good, I forget about them after a week as my skin’s just THAT stubborn. My skin would gather up all excuses to skip on applying body lotions and stay as dry as it is!

There are only two instances wherein I actually take notice of my skin – post-beach, when I see my skin darken and be drier than usual, and during really cold, and chilly weather.

Well, I think I might have found something really precious, and effective, and at the sometime, great enough to hold my interest!

I’ve tried this wonder lotion that claims to hold moisture on your skin for 24 hours, and keep it soft that way. I didn’t believe it at first, but I just gave it a shot over a freezing day inside the office. I read the press release that was accompanied with it and it said that the formula is backed by a Nobel Prize technology. Seriously? Now, if this isn’t true, I was about to protest for something to this brand with its ostentatious claims! Well, challenge is ON for the lotion hater Sophie!

Giving this body lotion a shot…here are my initial thoughts about it –
