Weekend Beauty Getaway : Neutrogena Healthy Summer Skin Event

Last weekend, Neutrogena gave us beauty bloggers a treat by luring us away from the hustles and bustles of the city, to a quiet and luxurious beach destination, at Anvaya Cove, Subic.

The venue of the event was perfect in every way – the beach is the ultimate summer destination, and with that, there are lots of questions on how to protect ourselves from the harmful rays of the sun, and how to enjoy our beach time under the sun!

Present during the event were:

Summer’s Beauty Must Haves, and A Contest!

lovely Phuket. photo by Adrian Teng

Hello my lovelies! I just got home from my first beach trip this year – Phuket, Thailand! I tell you, summer’s just about the best season of the year, as the endless sunshine fills my heart with so much happiness! But of course, one must stay beautiful and fresh all throughout – and here are my beach must-haves this year!

1. Sunblock
But.of.course. Skin cancer, anyone? Besides tan-phobia ( fear of having darker skin because of the sun ) or not, protecting your skin from the sun is just a must. Key products that I love? Avene Spray-on Sunblock ( that feels like nothing at all ), Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunblock ( that feels oh, so light ), and Colorescience Sunforgettable Brush SPF 30 ( that is excellent for acne prone skin, to be applied on the face. )

Singaporean Beauty Loot : My New MAC Loves

It’s one thing to wear your face bare, and your flatmates couldn’t care much on how you look ( except if something drastic shows up ), but it’s another thing as you go out of the house, do your stuff, as the world is watching you!

Well, as soon as I landed in Singapore, yes, within a few hours , I went to the place I called home – Tang’s, in Orchard Road. I love, love the MAC Cosmetics display there the most. I remember meeting Renee there for the first time, and my goal in my self imposed vacation right now, is to check out all the beauty stops here!

My new MAC loves? Continue reading

Sephora in Singapore: A Beautynomics Report

Okay, girls, as soon as I set foot in the very beautiful country of Singapore where my self-imposed vacation for this year is situated ( I finally reveal, haha! ) , I immediately contacted my beauty blogger friend, also Singapore-based Renee for us to meet there for a stroll. Last year, our meeting place when we first met was at the MAC Cosmetics counter in Tang’s Plaza, and now, our second time to meet, we agreed to just enjoy ourselves in the place where we feel most at ease and absolutely blissful – at the beauty counters, of course!

As we went in the Takashimaya Mall, Renee slowly led me to the Sephora store, and as the sight of the Sephora signage became more and more visible to my eye, I could just feel my breaths getting shorter and my eyes widening. Se-pho-ra!!!!

My Holiday Visit To My Dermatologist, MaMa Lotion, and PCA Skin Peels

I know, I know, I promised to take care of my skin by visiting my dermatologist every month, but with my monstrous schedule during the ber months, it was close to impossible. I’ve been in total agony as I could feel my skin needing that much-needed TLC and cleaning from Dr. Marledi Dizon, but I just couldn’t because I was literally not sleeping from working this Holiday Season.

One thing that helped me through was MaMa Lotion. Remember me raving about it? It’s a micropeeling solution that’s sort of a DIY home peeling lotion, that in my definition, prevents dull skin cells from building up, hence, prevents breakouts from happening. MaMa Lotion definitely, definitely saved my skin from too much dull skin cell buildup-torture, and I was so glad that my breakouts were minimized drastically by using this every other day! After a few months, I finally saw the results from it – absolutely amazing.

My Bangkok Beauty Haul

I promise, I really wasn’t able to shop alot of beauty stuff from Bangkok because of its irresistible bargain prices in the clothes department! Gosh, but then, I could not let a trip pass me by without some beauty shopping! Woohoo!

Over at the Paragon Plaza, guess what I first bought!!! My smile was sooo big that my friends thought I was crazy – A BOBBI BROWN SHIMMERING NUDES EYESHADOW PALETTE! So nice that prices were slashed 10% off for the weekend! I was the happiest gal on earth that day, I swear!

Bangkok : A Beauty Blogger’s Report

goofing around the Grand Palace. Such a lovely place ( such a lovely place )

One thought…and to think I was not looking forward to this trip!

I was dreading to go to Bangkok a few weeks ago because for one, that would mean me not attending the Philippine Blog Awards, and two, I was saving up for something that I did not want to splurge last weekend. Well, the trip with my girlfriends was booked months before, so might as well push with it.

BUT BOY I WAS WRONG! Bangkok made me CRAZY. And I mean CRAZY!

My Crash Course in Chemical Peels/Peeling Treatments

Last Thursday, right before snagging those babies at Shopwise, I went on a south roadtrip to Festival Mall to undergo my second skin peeling session at the Ageless Center, care of Dr. Socouer Oblepias, who had intensive training in the line of chemical peels and treatments in San Francisco, USA.

Now, I was told by my dermatologist when I was in college, that the only solution to my acne scars were chemical peeling ( I’m guessing, should be TCA ), and I was told that it would hurt, feel itchy, and I would look very sunburned right after the peeling session. Downtime. Ack. She also gave me a scenario that she would be using a fan to cool my face from the stinging sensation expected. I never went back because I got scared of the downtime and the pain.

Fastforward, two weeks ago, I had my first peeling session, right after a facial from my dermatologist. It was called gel peel that promised to slowly get rid of acne. It stang a bit, and well, I saw flaking. My skin was a bit brown afterwards. I’ve also done diamond peels before, but well, last Thursday was a new experience, still!

Super fastforward, back to my peeling session last Thursday, I was most curious on what difference progressive peels would make. I was told that the peels that would be performed on me , which was Sensi Peel and Esthetique Peel have very very minimal, to no downtime. I was most curious about this. My skin is acne prone, have really problematic open pores, and have some acne scars, so being out without makeup was really not a comfortable thing for me to do, but hey, one has to brave the wild to be able to get results. I would want to get good skin one day that I won’t need to wear makeup.

A Singaporean Beauty Loot

I so agree with that. When in doubt, buy it. When you see something that you want in a foreign land, and the deal’s pretty good, don’t think twice anymore because chances are , it’ll take some time before you go back there! So, I went shopping!

During my stay there, the first thing I hunted for are well, beauty products. I was amazed on how much beauty brands are there, and well, let me show you my loot! This is to prove to all my friends who are teasing me that I hoarded cosmetics there that IT IS NOT TRUE! hahaha!

A Beauty Addict’s Birthday Loot

*Takes a deep breath* well, here it is – what I’ve got for my birthday. Last year, on impulse, I got myself a Macbook and a DSLR Camera for my birthday ( of course, my dad paid for my Macbook and I paid for my camera haha! ). This year, the greatest birthday gift I gave myself was enrolling myself in makeup class – I will never regret this decision I made because I know in my heart that I love, love makeup, and of course, my birthday would not be complete without a beauty loot. A shameful one, actually. Hahaha!

This pre-birthday loot was purchased right after the MAC Bridal Makeup Workshop. I got myself a DUO Surgical Adhesive from the MAC Counter as we were going to be taught on how to apply false eyelashes the day after, Studiolights in Ideal Pink, Sand, ( and the darkest one the next day ) for my creme highlighting and contouring for my finals ( I’ve always wanted to do that ! ), a MAC Prep and Prime for the Eyes for my models, a Makeup For Ever Concealer Palette since I’ve been borrowing Jheng‘s Cinema Secrets Concealer Palette at class for the longest time already, and two babies that flew in just in time for my birthday, Continue reading
