Beauty Nerd Mode : The Hormone Diet

043740_THD

Many of us experience signs and symptoms of hormonal imbalance every day. Do you have trouble dragging yourself out of bed in the morning? Ever had an uncontrollable sugar craving at 3 pm? Chronic headaches? Lack of energy? Do you get stressed just sitting in your office? Our bodies are wired to send us signals when something isn’t right, but often we’re too busy to hear them. Compounding the problem is a lack of understanding about the consequences if these symptoms are left unaddressed. Without hormonal balance, we re more likely to succumb to many diseases and illnesses.

The Hormone Diet lays out a foolproof plan to balance your life, one hormone at a time.

I was compelled to read The Hormone Diet, as I have read from the marketing materials about the book, that the book is definitely out of the ordinary. It’s not a fad diet that makes you lose weight in days. It’s about how to balance our hormone levels, to be able to lose weight, have a better metabolism, and have a better feeling, and even sleeping better everyday!

Beauty Bible : The Skin Care Answer Book

I’m in a bookworm mode right now, as I am currently engrossed with The Skin Care Answer Book.

What causes wrinkles? Does what I eat really affect acne or cause flare ups? Why do I need to wear sunscreen if I am not outside? These nagging questions and many more are answered by Dr. Lees in The Skin Care Answer Book. The book addresses key topics to educate students, licensed estheticians and consumers. Chapters are organized by subject, making it reader-friendly and easy to navigate.

The Skin Care Answer Book author Mark Lees is one of the most noted skin care specialists, an award-winning speaker and product developer in the US. This book tackles 275 most-asked skin care questions, and gives us a dermatologists’ expounded answer, like in a lecture, minus the heavy jargon, making us understand how our skin works, and really informative tips on what skin care to adapt.

Who Wants Some “Eye Candy?”

This kind of eye candy, that is.

I just have to say this – I love, love eye makeup. Eyeliner’s just my favorite eye makeup cosmetic because I do it so well without shake, but my biggest frustration is eye makeup itself – the lid part, that is. I love rainbow-ey shades, smouldering smoky eyes, neutral looks, I love them all! But I’m quite slow in the learning process of it, but I really am interested to learn, and learn on how to perfect eye makeup looks because I believe that eye makeup can truly transform someone’s aura – because the eyes are just the windows to one’s soul.

For spring and summer, it’s all cheerful eye makeup that I’ve been looking at. Nice hues of blues, greens, yellows, and even pink! Hence, legendary makeup artist Linda Mason’s new book, Eye Candy: 55 Easy Makeup Looks for Glam Lids and Luscious Lashes.

Thalia Comes Up With a Beauty Book

Who can ever forget Thalia? The gorgeous Mexican telenovela superstar and recording artist, and known for her worldwide hit telenovela Marimar ( yeah, I watched it way back and she was still 17 then! ). The beautiful Thalia earns my envy as she has a killer waist, and she uses mayonnaise as her beauty secret to keep the hair soft and shiny.
