MRC DIARIES CHALLENGE

It’s been a few days since my first usage of the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate and Eye Cream. Let me tell you more about it, as I have already started roadtesting them! Here we go!

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate, tested for 3 days.

First of all, when you say “concentrate,” it’s usually a potent elixir that is really packed with so much benefits, such as concentrated Vitamin C that turns brown after 3-4 months, as its life span can only extend to such. My initial thought and impression was the Midnight Recovery Concentrate was going to be in serum form, something watery, but instead, it turned out to be oil-based. It actually makes sense, because it is actually an expert blend of botanical oils ( usually cold-pressed to retain its benefits and pure properties ) and essential oils ( that aside from giving aromatic benefits, have also some properties that help the skin. ) So yes, it’s oil-based.

You might think that I’d immediately back out with the thought that it is oil-based. Actually, I’ve been frustrated for the longest time that I am unable to use night cremes and oils on my face, because they grease out on me. I mean, come on, I am getting older and my skin needs nourishment! My oily skin is such a pain to maintain, really. So, I told myself, oh, this is worth a try! Just regret later if it causes my skin to breakout.

So I opened the bottle, and turns out it has a dropper dispenser that I find very useful. I was advised to use 2 drops on my skin, I first used my trusty ol Kiehl’s Blue Herbal Cleanser, and proceeded to use my favorite Kiehl’s Blue Herbal Toner ( I LOVE YOU – please know that – if there’s one product from the line you should get – get this one. ) . After that, I had two drops of Midnight Recovery Concentrate on my palm, rubbed it before patting it on my face.

Oh boy. Can I just say, that it smells really, really good? I love fragrant, natural scents. This one nailed my ideal natural scent. I wish they could have a fragrance diffuser just like this, and I think I can sleep like a baby every night. It smelled like it had calming effects – oh there’s lavender in it, plus some other essential oils that I can’t pinpoint exactly which one contributed to such great smelling concentrate. The smell’s quite a winner for me.

Going back to patting it in my face, I felt that it was absorbed quite quickly. I did not feel oily at all, and I’m glad that it didn’t feel oily or greasy on my skin as I get uncomfortable when that happens. I was getting cynical, as a cynic that I am, I was betting that it would become greasy in the morning and I’ll feel all horrible not being able to remove it even by removing using my trusty toner. As I woke up, lo and behold, my skin felt soft, well-hydrated, and comfortably, un-greasy! Yay, one point for Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate!

For the next two days, as I was in a strict, anti-acne, anti-comedone regimen, I decided to apply the concentrate on top of my application of M2 Skin Refinish. It was even better. My skin was having a night time deep-cleansing from M2 Skin Refinish, with an added boost of anti-aging, skin-repairing Midnight Recovery Concentrate.

As for the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye Concentrate, the consistency was a really thin cream that gets absorbed easily. As for the hydrating properties, I think it needed to be topped with a more moisturizing eye cream, so after applying this, I topped it with Absyinne Eye Cream and everything was all right. It’s been a few days, and my eyes are feeling alright, as I still haven’t noticed any difference. Eye creams usually need commitment – you need at least three months to see results!

my eyebrows are so unruly. hahaha!

Anyway, here is me pre-challenge, all bare faced. I must love my readers so much that I was able to take a photo me without any makeup, in my most haggard state! Oh gosh, look at those dark undereye circles, and the lines under my eyes, as they crinkle when I try to smile. Someone’s getting old, but I’m not gonna let that happen! Taking a leap of faith with Kiehl’s Midnight Recoveries line, let’s see how it “recovers” my skin in time for my big 3-0 this June ;)

Stay tuned for more updates, I’ve been using it with no problem so far!
