Scars. What are scars?

Various factors influence how your skin scars. Of course, the depth and size of the wound or incision and the location of the injury are going to impact the scar’s characteristics. But your age, heredity, even your sex or ethnicity, will all affect how your skin reacts.
In Beautynomics definition ( ahem hahaha! ) , scars are marks left by wounds not taken cared of properly, or wounds that leave marks of our stubborness. Imperfections. Our once perfect skin now not so perfect anymore. Why? For the face, puberty hits us and some are not lucky that we didn’t have a dermatologist who was there for us to guide us on not to get stressed and pick on our pimples. We are also not informed on how to treat wounds.
Scars, at least in my experience, in the most basic sense, are divided into three. There are scars that are only color-based that we call “marks” or “pigmentations” that are really easy to blur out with the help of whitening products, but there are texture-based scars that are raised ( keloids ) or depressed ( pitted scars ) that are much, much more difficult to address.

Keloid scars. These scars are the result of an overly aggressive healing process. These scars extend beyond the original injury. Over time, a keloid scar may affect mobility. Possible treatments include surgical removal, or injections with steroids. Smaller keloids can be treated using cryotherapy (freezing therapy using liquid nitrogen). You can also prevent keloid formation by using pressure treatment or gel pads with silicone when you sustain an injury. Keloid scars most often occur in Blacks.
Contracture scars. If your skin has been burned, you may have a contracture scar, which causes tightening of skin that can impair your ability to move; additionally, this type of scar may go deeper to affect muscles and nerves.Hypertrophic scars. Raised and red scars that are similar to keloids, but do not breach the boundaries of the injury site. Possible treatments can include injections of steroids to reduce inflammation.
Acne scars. If you’ve had severe acne, you probably have the scars to prove it. There are many types of acne scars, ranging from deep pits to scars that are angular or wavelike in appearance. Possible treatments will depend on the types of acne scars you have.

There are definitely more kinds of scars, depending on the degree of damage caused on the skin, and the reaction of the skin to salvage its own, and close up the wound.
A decade ago, these problems are almost hopeless and non-reversible. Thanks to modern technology, cures keep getting more possible and possible, even in the scar department!

At first, I was a bit dubious because it’s already so difficult to treat scars, specially raised and depressed with microneedling and laser alone, what more for just another scar remover gel? I was thinking that this was only a scar lightener meant for those pigmentations or dark marks brought about by acne or wounds. Really superficial ones.
Instructions are to apply on problem areas twice daily for 4-6 weeks, for scars that are at most 2 years in age. I am most challenged to do so and see the effect!
So let me tell you what I think about it :
* The consistency is a thin gel. The smell is just sooo good. This must be the best smelling gel that I’ve ever tried. It makes me more encouraged to apply this partly because of the smell!
* It absorbs quickly. I have no problem unlike cream-type ones that take forever to be absorbed into the skin. This one’s a winner!
So I was given 2-3 weeks to try this on scars and see the effect.
Scar on my leg. eew don’t ask how.
Scar mark on my thigh. Eew another gory story. I swear I tried not to be clumsy.
The effect after 2-3 weeks were :
* Softening of the old scar I have on my leg. This one is pretty old, like when I was still a kid. Hiruscar claims that it can heal at most 2-year old scars but I took a chance at this. I noticed that the once harsh-looking scar looked soft around the edges. So for really old scars, I think that at least, Hiruscar can work on softening its harsh-ness and make it try to blend in to the skin for as much as it can.
* On the recent scar mark that I had on my thigh, I noticed some blurring. This is actually a dark mark, and I’m glad that I’m seeing effects. I’ve been using whitening creams on this but to no avail. I thought that it would address this problem. Hiruscar seems to lighten the scar by a bit, and I am hoping for more results.
I think that I should be patient and consistent in applying Hiruscar on my problem areas as I am starting to see some improvements. I am hoping that within a month or so, I can see miracles and have a more flawless skin to boot! But maybe to set up my expectations to a reasonable rate, just some improvement on the scars, on how they look would definitely be worth the money already actually!

I believe those are “scars” from mini wounds caused by insect bites, dont you think?:) But it is more on scars that are 2 years old and below to work effectively, please take note.

Flo : Yep, but I dont really count on this for depressions. Better to apply this on fresh depressions to push collagen production.
The older the depressions, the harder they are to address.
