My dad is one of those really cooperative men when it comes to skin care. I love him so much for that! He listens to me, as I give him anti-aging night creams, lifting eye creams, and even obediently applies sunblock at he starts his day. He is even more religious with his skin care than my mom! Just this dinner, he told my sister, “you can skip everything for anti-aging, but please, focus on your undereyes.” My sister was like, “Dad, can you hear yourself?” Hahaha! Consider me proud because I have been told that dad has been looking really good, and even younger ever since he has started this skin care regimen that I “prescribed” him! His skin care products are placed on his bedside. Enough said!
Anyway, let me tell you about our Daddy Day-Out a week ago, as Lab Series, a skincare brand exclusively for men that was recently launched here in Manila. I could tell that Dad was very excited about it!
As we arrived, cocktail tables were filled with pairs having a pleasant afternoon.

Dad was initially escorted to the grooming area, where his hair was fixed ( I can feel Dad getting giddy woot! )

and after a hearty merienda, I accompanied him to the Lab Series attendant for his skin analysis!
What’s so impressive about Lab Series, is that aside from being a niche skin care catering to men’s needs, they also have skin analyzing tools available at their counters in Rustan’s Shangri-la and Rustan’s Makati. For that day, they took out the analyzers and used it on our beloved male guests for the “skin diagnosis.”

Now, after a series of tests, Dad got the following score in terms of skin qualities :
Texture Uniformity – a B. It means that his skin has moderately uniform texture, but he has some wrinkles and fine lines here and there.
Oil/Sebum – a C. It means that his skin is oily. Funny, because I don’t think his skin is oily at all! Maybe on the T-zone. Maybe this is the reason why he doesn’t look his age! Oily skinned people, rejoice!
Cell Turnover - an A. Wow, it means that his face still undergoes a normal rate of the natural exfoliation process, and his skin’s cell turnover is at a healthy rate. Proud, proud! Haha!
Hydration – a B. While his skin is moderately hydrated, he has some fine lines and wrinkles. I would expect that, that is why we are so into anti-aging for him!
He was also asked by the Lab Series attendant what skin care concerns he wanted to address. Dad was actually shy, and I did most of the talking like a stage daughter! I revealed that Dad placed most importance with his eyes – he wanted a good lift, as he felt that he looks old with his eyes.
After the consultation, Dad was given Lab Series products to take home and try, according to his needs.

He was given the following :
Lab Series Multi-Action Facial Wash – for cleansing during daytime and nighttime.
Lab Series Max LS Age-less Face Cream – for anti-aging and hydration. This will be his moisturizer.
Lab Series Max LS Instant Eye Lift- for firmer skin surrounding the eyes.
Let me just share, that I love attending events when I am given a chance to try out new products in the market. In this event, I was even happier because I got to see Dad all happy and excited to try his new skin care set! Oh, I just love making my dad happy!

As today is Father’s Day, I was just reflecting about Dad. Dad, during his younger days, was one really handsome dude ( and I have friends who tell me that he is handsome, until now! woot I hope you don’t read this Dad, you’ll gloat! hahaha! ) I actually got to read about him in his yearbook, and I remember it saying that he had such tantalizing eyes that girls fall for him because of that. I’m so blessed that he has passed on, at least the color of his eyes ( which are light, light brown ) to me. Hahaha! Kidding aside, Dad was such a hard worker, starting from nothing, just being motivated with a good future for his family, that led him to be this tireless, dynamic entrepreneur. I would sometimes compare him to Gary V, that his energy was just endless, being such a hands-on entrepreneur, and even moreso, a hands-on dad. He would take such pleasure in driving us around ( until now, would you believe? ), wanting to be as close to his children as possible, as I could talk to him about anything. At times, I would ask him what his secret was in just being that Superman, and he would just tell me that it was needed. My dad is my constant source of inspiration in being an entrepreneur, and in taking care of his kids. I am proud to have gotten my entrepreneurial spirit from him, as I have seen him toil tirelessly, and establish our family ever since I was a kid. Sometimes, we would have disagreements and would fight over stuff, and it was just because we had such similar, aggressive personalities ( go-getters ), that we clash. At the end of the day, we’re just two people looking out for each other, loving each other the way we know best.
Well, Happy Father’s Day to my dad, and to all dads out there!
