Summer. I’m usually speechless, or quiet about summer, as I choose to spend the time closing my eyes, feeling the warmth of the sun, hearing the crash of the waves, the whispering caresses of the wind while I’m at sea. I live for summer, I am a tropical person, I would gladly choose the beach over a cold place. I can live in the beach for the rest of my days, if I’m lucky. Being born during the Summer Solstice, the first day of summer, and the longest day of the year, it figures why I’m such a beach lover.

For Summer 2012, I am praising the sun with my new allies from Snoe Beauty. These babies have won my heart ever since I have checked their booth during the Rockwell Moonlit Bazaar last December. Now, I just find myself hoarding stuff whenever I visit their branch in Cinderella at Glorietta!

I went on a quick beach trip with my family to Mactan, Cebu during one idle weekend. Cebu is one of my favorite places, with its laid back charm, and my favorite resort, Mactan Shangri-la!

Scars. What are scars?

According to medicinenet.com,

Scar formation is a natural part of the healing process after injury.

Various factors influence how your skin scars. Of course, the depth and size of the wound or incision and the location of the injury are going to impact the scar’s characteristics. But your age, heredity, even your sex or ethnicity, will all affect how your skin reacts.

In Beautynomics definition ( ahem hahaha! ) , scars are marks left by wounds not taken cared of properly, or wounds that leave marks of our stubborness. Imperfections. Our once perfect skin now not so perfect anymore. Why? For the face, puberty hits us and some are not lucky that we didn’t have a dermatologist who was there for us to guide us on not to get stressed and pick on our pimples. We are also not informed on how to treat wounds.

Scars, at least in my experience, in the most basic sense, are divided into three. There are scars that are only color-based that we call “marks” or “pigmentations” that are really easy to blur out with the help of whitening products, but there are texture-based scars that are raised ( keloids ) or depressed ( pitted scars ) that are much, much more difficult to address. Karl Lagerfeld, the globally admired fashion legend collaborates with beauty brand Shu Uemura for the Shu Uemura Holiday Collection. Even this early, I’m sure that both the beauty, and the fashion world are very excited, wanting to get their hands on such precious limited edition items! In this day and age that modern technology has made everything possible to improve almost everything we have, and even address almost any concerns that we have, well, beautiful hair is already very much possible with a product.

I remember before that girls who had naturally frizzy hair were doomed to have that poofy hair for life, and by the time that I was in high school, hair relaxing, and hair rebonding were introduced into the market. Right now, you can do just about anything with your hair. Straighten it, curl it, make it shinier, color it darker, or color it lighter. But then, all these processes have consequences. “Tweaking” our hair DNA do have side effects, destructive side effects, such as hair losing its natural shine over time, hair getting dry and brittle, and eventually, getting all damaged. Thus, hair oils are all the rage right now to re-nourish our hair.

My dad is one of those really cooperative men when it comes to skin care. I love him so much for that! He listens to me, as I give him anti-aging night creams, lifting eye creams, and even obediently applies sunblock at he starts his day. He is even more religious with his skin care than my mom! Just this dinner, he told my sister, “you can skip everything for anti-aging, but please, focus on your undereyes.” My sister was like, “Dad, can you hear yourself?” Hahaha! Consider me proud because I have been told that dad has been looking really good, and even younger ever since he has started this skin care regimen that I “prescribed” him! His skin care products are placed on his bedside. Enough said!

Anyway, let me tell you about our Daddy Day-Out a week ago, as Lab Series, a skincare brand exclusively for men that was recently launched here in Manila. I could tell that Dad was very excited about it!

A few weeks ago, I was handed over my new bottle of Bobbi Brown Long-wear Even Finish Foundation SPF 15 for review. It was such great timing, as my favorite Bobbi Brown Skin Finish Foundation has been used up already. I really loved Bobbi Brown Skin Finish Foundation with its really light consistency, good, buildeable coverage, and really gorgeous finish on the skin.

Pores, oh pores! This is my biggest problem since I was in highschool. Way back when my hormones were waging its worst ( puberty, ) I would really envy my friends who would have poreless, flawless skin! I would really wonder why I didn’t have that such nice skin. Of course, as time passed by, I decided not to wallow, and do something about it. I researched about pores, and found really good pore-filling products for makeup, and for skin care solutions, I would go to my dermatologist for chemical peels to refine my pores and unclog them drom the oil/dirt buildup every month, to keep pores clean and smaller.

Now, I am currently roadtesting Clinique’s Pore Refining Solutions. The cynic in me is asking – do pore refining solutions really work? Is there really such skin care that can shrink pores? Thus, I have been roadtesting it for nearly two weeks, and would like to give it more time before I can give to you my findings about this skin care line of Clinique’s.

But first, let me share with you a Q & A with Clinique’s guiding dermatologist, Dr. David Orentreich about pores. This has really enlightened me and given me so much information about the nature of pores, as I hope that it would give you some clarifications with the questions in your mind, as well.
