One thing that I am most particular about, when it comes to hair care, is the shine factor of the hair. I love shiny, reflective hair. Shiny hair is actually healthy hair, as it means that the strands are not damaged, and the hair strand even enough to reflect its color, and produce shine.

For me, shiny hair ( of course, considerably shiny, not oily hahaha! ) is such a head turner!

When I was given a chance to choose which Bedhead products I am to review, I immediately chose Headrush with the description I was given – which was, to give the hair such amplified shine, great for natural hair, and even for highlights.

For its description, Headrush is :

Shine Adrenaline with a Superfine Mist
A lightweight aerosol supershine mist that gives explosive shine for immaculate, healthy looking hair.

For the ingredients,

Feature/Ingredients :

Cyclomethicone – silicone oil
Phenyl Trimethicone – silicones
Dimethicone Copolycol- Dimethicone copolyol softens and smoths skin and hair. It repels water and adds shine to hair. It helps certain personal care products spread more smoothly and evenly and in some cases acts as a moisturizer.
Propylene Glycol – humectant but with alcohol
Dimethicone
Ethyl Ester of Hydrolyzed Silk

Dissecting the active ingredients list, almost all of the above are of silicone in composition, which means that this product aims to smoothen the hair strands, filling in gaps of the hair strand to make the hair strands even, be able to reflect, and shine. I have always loved silicone – I used silicone-based primers, and I have actually used silicone-based products for the hair and have found them to be really incredibly smoothening, with that nice shine, but at the end of the day, wash them off to prevent product buildup on your hair.

I’m featuring my sister Sarabeth who just graduated high school. Proud Sister Sophie woke up extra early to do her makeup, and as she finished ironing her hair, I sprayed Bedhead Headrush on her hair. Initial thoughts? “Woah this is some sweet smelling aerosol spray!” right before I noticed the shine. The sweet, sweet smell was distracting enough, and Sarabeth’s hair was looking naturally ( but not overdone ) shiny for her graduation! Happiness!

I also got to spray this to my hair, and the effect I got was an instant smoothening effect ( silicones, what else! :) ) and that really nice, natural shine. My tip using this product is just to spray a very light mist, and not to overdo it, as it can weigh down hair. But with the right, light amount on the hair, hair just looks quite healthy and really behaved!

Bedhead Headrush retails for P1750.00 and is available at Basement Salon, Emphasis Salon, Essensuals Salon, Henri Calayag Salon, and Studio 546.
