Earlier this year, it was a quick stroll in the mall when I chanced upon MAC Cosmetics’ temporary pop-up stall. My eyes immediately zoomed in the latest collection, which was Iris Apfel. There and then, I was able to swipe one of the brightest, most daring, and oh! so beautiful orange lipstick in the whole wide world. I exclaimed, “ahhh! beautiful!” just as soon as the makeup artist manning the booth smiled and told me, “out of stock.” I felt my world fell apart that day!
This was MY orange! Ahhh!!! It couldn’t be!
I actually contacted my friends over at MAC Cosmetics to ask if there were still stocks coming in, or if they would still have them in other branches. Dingdingding, I wasn’t doomed at all! Kirsten of MAC Cosmetics told me that this is not a limited edition shade, as it was part of the permanent line, so I immediately had one tube reserved pronto! Thanks to Phoebe for picking it up for me, and when I finally got my hands on it, I was in cloud nine!
MAC Lipstick in Morange is a loudmouth orange. All I can say is that it was bright, bright, bright! Knowing me, I would tend to shy away with bright, red lips, but I’ve always wanted to sport a look that is similar to that, just not red. I have self proclaimed that I am more of a peach/coral/orange person rather than a red person, and I even look better with peaches than pinks. So I am claiming it my color!
I am rather nervous with a bright orange shade, well, I just mustered my guts to sport the look, and here are the looks that I came up with!

This is a photo of me looking slightly tanned. I can never really understand my camera. Haha! But having a perspective like that, I think Morange would look quite tame with medium to darker skin tones. I like the effect!

This is another photo of me using Morange ( see, I have been really trying my best to sport the shade! A for A-fort! ) and me looking fair because of the flash from the camera as it was dark. Morange proved to be quite a contrast, a striking contrast that I loved this effect! I think that I could have darkened my eyeliner to help my eyes ” go forward” and not sink because of the highly contrasting color of my lips against my skin! Oh well, lesson learned!
Another plus would be the amplified formula, that just distributes color creamily, and evenly on the lips. This is love! So imagine how I almost went insane when I lost my makeup kit? I was whining endlessly on Twitter about my loss that Phoebe took a pity on me and offered to buy me a replacement. Ahhhh! Good thing I found my kit!
( but Phoe, thank you for the thought! )
Well, how do you like it? Are you into peach/coral/orange lipsticks ? I’d love to hear from you!
*PS My commenting plugin was not working for the past few weeks and I was actually missing my readers’ comments! So please show me some love and drop me a line here! Mwah!
