sparse

Eew. Sorry for getting dismayed at my own eyebrows.

So this is how my eyebrows look before they are drawn. Shaped accordingly. Take a closer look ( okay, fine, bratty me used the iPhone because I’m still unwilling to show this in high resolution hahaha! ), and you will get to see that my eyebrows are unevenly distributed – they’re quite full near my nose, but they are really, really sparse by the “tail”-end (easily put in Filipino, “buntot”). That explains why I have to draw, at least, the “tail” every single day as I deem myself looking weird and too undone without decent eyebrows everyday.

I think I started getting obsessed with my eyebrows after my first makeup schooling under the ultra-talented RB Chanco. All the more when I took up an advanced bridal makeup course in Singapore when Singaporeans are ultra precise, and very much strict with well-shaped eyebrows. I believe to have stayed behind after school with my frustrations to get that perfect arch and that perfect shape. At home, I would even be my own model as I would practice drawing my eyebrows for hours. Sigh, oh memories!

With my obsession with eyebrows and fiddling with eyebrow products, I definitely have tried almost every brow product there is. Pencils, wax, gels, powders, and even pens. Yes, eyebrow pens. They reminded me so much of my favorite Chinese calligraphy pen when I was in high school. We were asked to use a calligraphy brush, dipped in black ink to write as finely as we can in small boxes of space ( xiao cai, if you can relate, ) and my aunt from Taiwan just came home one day bearing me presents – one of them is an automatic pen that dispenses back ink like a ballpen already, and the rest was history. I loved those pens until they ran dry. Little did I know that these pens would evolve into being eyebrow pens one day!

Okay, back to eyebrow pens. Why do I love them? It’s because they give out sheer color – watery, translucent but buildable, much like a stain on the eyebrows, and they look really natural, just like your eyebrows once sparse are instantly looking naturally full. You can top the already-drawn eyebrows with powder, or more products for more definition, but for that really natural look, eyebrow pens are the only products that deliver.

My love for eyebrow pens started when I got to try MAC Cosmetics’ Penultimate Brow Marker. It was really true love, but as true love is elusive, so was this eyebrow pen. Stocks were quite limited, and it was not available locally ( at least, after the collection. ). I think, I was able to snag two of them, then I stumbled into another eyebrow pen brand – something that of a famous brand that makes eyebrow products, that I deem grossly overpriced, being more than a thousand bucks ( around 24-25 USD I believe ) – I was already ready to repurchase if necessary if it was good, but it was not. It wouldn’t stay a few hours. Such disappointment! *insert growl here*

24 hr eyebrow liner

So when I stumbled upon K-Palette Eyebrow Liners in Singapore, I managed to give it a try, it being below one thousand pesos. Well, let me just say that I was fated to come across K-Palette Eyebrow Liners this lifetime. Why? Because I’ve been such a good girl tending to my eyebrows that’s why! Okay, let’s be serious.

What do I love about K-Palette:

* Relatively inexpensive compared to other eyebrow pen brands

* It has brown like the MAC Penultimate Brow Marker, so we can consider it a really, really good dupe.

* It has a really fine tip, that you can easily control, that you can draw your eyebrows as precise as possible

* If lipliners are used to trace your lips before filling them in with color to ensure a precise shape, this is the product counterpart for eyebrows. The K-Palette Eyebrow Liner Pen is so precise, that it also helps you shape your eyebrows as sharp as you want them to be, or as soft as you want them to be, with your desired shape!

* stays FOREVER! I can sweat, and I can get oily, and it doesn’t move. Yeah!!!

before and after

I really love this stuff.

One gripe of mine are fading eyebrows while I’m out because of the oily nature of my skin. There was even one instance when someone pointed out that my eyebrows had no “tails” anymore during a bazaar. Muy embarrassing. To save me from that, I always make it a point to use K-Palette eyebrown pen as base for my eyebrows, and when I am doing full makeup, I would re-define my eyebrows using a brown eyeshadow or eyebrow wax. I definitely feel more secure, knowing that my eyebrows will stay intact for the entire day.

Let me share with you some instances when K-Palette’s Eyebrow Liners saved the day :

During my sister’s prom, I did her makeup. Whenever I do makeup on other people (not me), I find my energies all given to that person, thus, stripping me off the strength on doing my own makeup. So I just wore really light makeup on this one, plus lightly shaped my eyebrows
with K-Palette Eyebrow Liner.

During one of the bazaars last December, my skin was fresh from a chemical peel and oiling up like hell ( as seen in the photo ). A photo-op presented itself when Kim Chiu graced our booth woot! Despite my oily skin, my eyebrows were still there thanks to K-Palette. I believe I topped that with some eyebrow powder and MAC Girlboy Browset.

I will never ever miss a chance to have a photo taken by my idol, even if I look like that. hahaha!

Here is me spending a really hot day in Singapore, capping it off with a glorious dinner at the East Coast Hawker. Yes, my brows are still in tact, thanks to K-Palette! I believe I did not bring any eyebrow product aside from K-Palette as I try to “pack light” in everything and it is too warm to wear heavy or defined makeup in Singapore.

Last but not the least, here’s me having cooking lessons, with almost no makeup! Of course, eyebrows still need to be there!

So you probably think that I never leave home without my K-Palette Eyebrow Liner. Yep, I really don’t if I am about to spend more than a day outside, or go travelling! This is one of my must-bring essentials, ever!

it comes in two shades

I would encourage everyone to get 01, a brown shade as it would look good on everyone, but for really jet black hair, I would suggest 02, the Super Black shade. Just use a light hand in applying it. Little by little, and don’t hesitate to layer if you think you want more definition. This can be worn alone, or can be topped by other brow products. This can act as a good, lasting brow base, but it can also do well on its own, giving you nice eyebrows for the entire day. I love this so much that I bring this with me during my travels, and rough-travels that is, wherein I am almost makeup-free. Please, I still need my eyebrows still!

To end this post, let me just share that I was overjoyed when I was contacted by Beautybox, exclusive distributors of K-Palette in the Philippines, to review their products. Finally, K-Palette in the Philippines – I do not have to buy my stash either in Hong Kong or Singapore! Retailing for P895.00, the price point is not bad at all! You can get your K-Palette products at all Beauty Bar branches! Highly recommended by yours truly, I am just so passionate about this product!
