Thing about skin care, is that you need to hear it from the experts. I find myself liking to be around dermatologists because I know that they are experts in the craft of keeping skin beautiful and youthful, so when I was given a chance to ask Goodskin Labs’ Global Brand Dermatologist, Dr. Frank, I certainly did not pass up the chance to do so!
So, here’s a run-down of my questions for him, plus his answers :
Amongst all your products, what is best to help give the lifted look for depressed scars?
Dr. Frank : To best treat depressed scars from acne and other trauma to the skin, I recommend visiting your dermatologist to determine the best treatment for you.
Sophie’s Note : Really true. I haven’t found any product in the market that addresses depressed scars. I think this is a surgical thing. Dermarolling, Dermabrasion, or laser treatments will help. But for cosmetics, I haven’t found a real targetted solution for this.
Is there really such a thing as “getting immune” to a skin care product?
Dr. Frank : When it comes to the skin and anti-aging, it is best to stay consistent. Skin often becomes irritated if you change your skincare routine too much. While skin builds up a tolerance to products, it is not a negative thing.
Can you help enlighten me the benefits about silicone, as I see that most of your products have that ingredient. There is also a notion that silicones can be comedogenic. Can you clarify?
Dr. Frank: There are many benefits to silicone, an ingredient you find in many of the GoodSkin Labs products. It is a cosmetically elegant ingredient that allows products to be applied easily and have a smooth feeling. It also doesn’t interact with the active ingredients of other products, thus allowing each product to deliver their full results. The scientists at GoodSkin Labs have test silicone for its safety, as we do with all products and ingredients. This ingredient is not comedogenic.
Sophie’s Note : I would have to agree with this as a dermatologist just prescribed to me a silicone product for my scars, and it’s developed by a skin care company. I am quite happy with Goodskin Labs’ Smooth 365 which boasts of 3 kinds of silicones!
Whew that was quite interesting! I must admit that I learned alot, specially with question #3. No, not just interesting, but it is beauty nirvana/enlightenment for me! I shall not be afraid of silicones again! Though, I feel, that you must get silicone-based products from trusted skin care companies like Goodskin Labs, as I have tried their silicone-based products and have not had any adverse reaction to it.
NOW, how about a contest?
I’m extending to you the privilege of having Dr. Frank answer your brimming skin care question! You might have it for a long time, in your mind, and what’s a better way than having a top dermatologist validate or answer your question?
