This weekend means two things to me – my most exciting weekend as I go camping in the South ( literally, coz I’ll be living for 5 days there, which is bliss as there’s something really relaxing about the southern part of the Metro ) for the annual Saint James the Great Christmas Bazaar ( visit Beauty & Minerals there! and let’s meet! ), and another important thing this weekend is the grand launch of my best friend’s makeup studio/makeup bar in Singapore.
Joie was one of the jolly girls I’ve been given the chance to be classmates with when I enrolled in makeup school in Singapore. She was the prettiest amongst my classmates ( well, at least, in my opinion! ) as she looked more like a superstar or movie celebrity from Hong Kong. Amongst her accomplishments include being a flight attendant in one of the most glamourous airlines, Singapore Airlines, being a singer ( yes, this girl can sing! ), and being a dog lover ( oh, she has a gorgeous dog Ollie!!!! ). Anyway, we were the ones that really clicked progressively throughout our makeup studies, as we were just so passionate about our craft and we would just talk from time to time about products, and techniques. She’s a natural, I believe, and she doesn’t even get stressed with doing any makeup, and it always turns out really great! ( I remember Nikki with her ) Aside from school stuff, I remember having our group lunches together, and she would be most helpful in explaining to me about the dishes that she’d recommend me to try. ( she knows my weakness, and it’s food, aside from makeup ) It’s been almost three years and we’ve still kept in touch, and I visit her everytime I go back to Singapore. Presently, she is a really busy makeup artist that does makeup for magazine shoots, weddings, and does personal coaching on clients. This is her life now, and I could just feel how happy she is when she respond to her calling – makeup artistry.
I remember during my last few days in makeup school that Joie took me to the East Coast Hawker and made me munch tons of food. Tons of yummy fewd!!!
So what’s a better way of making things even more perfect for her life, than opening her very very own makeup studio, called Joie : The Makeup Bar?
Joie, the Makeup Bar, is located in the East Coast area, one of the upscale areas in Singapore, and she will be taking office there, doing hair and makeup, and personal makeup coaching there. If you plan to have a photoshoot, the studio which she partners with is just beside her space. I totally love it! See the insides, it’s really minimalist, and really classy!
I am also very very happy to announce that it will be the new home of Charm Makeup Brushes, as Joie is my exclusive distributor, and brand ambassador in Singapore. ( I must have done something right to merit such a gorgeous brand ambassador! ) I’m glad that she told me frankly that she wouldn’t carry my makeup brushes if she didn’t liked them herself, as she is really particular with quality, and she wouldn’t hesitate to turn me down if she didn’t like them. So I guess, that earns me a stamp of approval from my best friend, and a really good makeup artist! Yay!

( that’s why we click, it’s because we like joking around haha! ) It’s quite funny that I have always called Singapore my second home, as I really really feel at peace and at ease with this gorgeous country, and I’m glad that Charm Makeup Brushes will have its second home in Singapore, too!
Well, November 26, 2011 marks the opening of Joie : The Makeup Bar, and I can wish nothing but the best for Miss Joie Leong. A solid makeup career, a really gorgeous dog, a good family, a great husband ( see you soon, Y! ) and now, a makeup bar!!! I’m really proud of you!
