I remember before, when I was really young ( around post-highschool, somewhere my product explorations stage, I think, around collegetime ), that I’d go around beauty counters and chance upon Clinique. The brand just looked so classy, and so clean to me, and the word “Clinique,” would leave me wondering, is this a brand by a dermatologist, because it sounds so “clinical,” and almost promise me instantaneous results! But then, college-Sophie was a saving Sophie, dependent on allowance that she could not afford an entire line of Clinique products. But then, during my senior year, I think I was really saving good money then and having a small sideline, I was able to buy my mom a pot of Clinique’s All About Eyes as a gift for her undereye care. It was her first eye cream, as no one in the household used eye creams, and she was very low maintenance. Needless to say it was the first ever eye cream in our household, and it jumpstarted our habit of applying eye creams ever since!
Anyway, fast forward to today, I see Clinique as a brand that does not only look good in terms of reputation ( lots of raves about this brand, read glossies, ask people, google it up ) and delivers as. When I read their brochure that says that when they test their products on their subjects, only one allergic reaction would prompt them to reformulate. That is their unique standpoint, and I love it. It means so much to me that companies really strive to bring out the best then can in products, and to keep everyone happy. Clinique also strikes me right now as efficient skin care and makeup products, as not only are you having good skin with their products, your skin still gets to breathe with their makeup, and the result is natural-looking skin. Well, I can go on and on with my respect for this brand, but let me share with you my two favorite Clinique products :

Clinique’s Three Step Skin Care System
This story is too cute – I was able to score samples for the Clinique 3-Step Skin Care System as my skin was assessed as a Type 3 ( Combination – Oily ), and the rest was history. I bought full-sized bottles of the set, and maintained it.
Clinique’s Liquid Soap makes my skin feel really skin though not tight. I feel that it’s such an effective cleanser, and it works for my oily skin. Clinique’s Exfoliating Toner (3) is my favorite, as it really, really removes after-cleanse residue of oil and dirt, and my skin’s clarity is improved with its micropeeling qualities. I would really bring this, and transfer to small bottles when I would travel. This is such a reasonably priced toner that would prevent breakouts from happening if you’re willing to pay, but not too much. The cult favorite, Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisture Gel (DDMG, as people would talk about the acronym as it’s such a household term), is a really one of a kind moisturizer that absorbs rather quickly and does not cause greasies.

As I was on a mineral makeup phase, I was really weary on using liquid foundations again because I just know that they would clog pores. The first brand that I trusted with liquid foundations was Clinique, because it IS clinical skin care. Little did I know that I have discovered such a gem with the Superfit Makeup. It’s like the “Adidas” of liquid foundations that goes on to give you buildable coverage, and give you really seamless, silky finish, and the staying power is simply impressive! I loved it so much that I have shared it with my sisters who also love this liquid foundation. This is great for those who have oily skin, those who feel that makeup does not stay long, and those who perspire alot. This one, I believe, I will be purchasing again for sure! It doesn’t aggravate my acne-prone skin and it’s quite a miracle, to be honest!

Right now, I am bent on testing these new products from Clinique :

Oh, did I just read serum? I LOVE serums. This one promises to brighten the skin, and improve skin tone and texture. The first impression I got from this product is that it feels very light, but it feels a bit silicone-ish as it feels really silky, but does not give that heavy feel. I’m going to apply this regularly to check if my skin brightens. But for now, I’m good with how it does not clog up my pores! ( I always am thankful for THAT fact! )

Oh, this is just love at first sight for me! For girls always on the go, not having enough time to apply good eye makeup, Clinique’s Lid Smoothie is heaven sent, as you just need to squirt a little product and spread on your lids, and voila! With its shimmery finish, I get instantly brighter lids, and I look more awake! It’s such an “effortless” effort to look like you’ve applied “effort” on your face ( need another? say effort. hahaha! ). So this one, I feel, I would be buying the light shades of this as I love a beautiful wash on my eyelids any day! A major plus is the staying power, claiming an 8-hour wear. I feel that this is a must-have for any girl who is low maintenance but wants to look good – put it in your vanity kit, you never know when you’re gonna have an impromptu date! Haha! Thank me later!
