With my cousin’s wedding to be held 10am early in the morning, I could only groan, and sigh problematically as I am not a morning person. Yes, it was the perfect occasion for dolling up, but waking up early in the morning to do so can be such a challenge! Well, this cousin is special to me, as we practically grew up together, so consider me challenged! I actually prepared my look a week in advance so that I wouldn’t be all running around during the day itself!
With occasions that call for dolling up, consider me the most excited one. So here’s what I’ve come up with, together with some notes on how I achieved my look!
* First of all, I am absolutely loving my curls right now. Consider me someone not too skilled in using the curling iron, so I’m using this really great set of rollers that I’ve bought recently! Let me reveal to you this brilliant styling tool of mine in a separate entry as it truly deserves the spotlight! But boy, it is indeed refreshing to have another hairstyle aside from my regular straight hair!
* I am so happy with my new hair color. I told the colorist at Vivere Salon in Megamall that I wanted to achieve Maricar Reyes’ bright, colored hair in Imortal, and when my hair coloring was done, they told me that the brown achieved was more of Angelica Panganiban’s. Well, I’m not complaining as my initial instruction to them was really to make my hair look like that of actresses on TV. Call me vain, I must be watching too much TV, but I’m happy with my new hair! I don’t even know if I’ll ever go back to my natural hair color. Haha!
* Can I just tell you that I’ve found my HG eyeshadow palette? Ever since I have gotten my Urban Decay Naked Palette, we have been inseperable, really! It’s really a neutrals lover’s idea of eye makeup perfection! I think that I can use it until I grow old. Hahaha! For my look, I actually decided against sporting smoky eyes that day because well, it was daytime. I just applied a sheer wash of faint gold on my eyes, and lightly contoured my crease with a soft brown shade. Just very light eye makeup for the day.
* As my dress was vvvviolet, I was actually thinking of whipping up my peaches, but instead, the pink lover in me somehow won over, and I ended up with long-lasting, flushed pink cheeks thanks to Bobbi Brown’s Peony Blush, and my favorite pale pink lipstick shade, MAC Lady Gaga lipstick. Well, I’m glad to have pulled it off, somehow! Haha!
Best wishes to my lovely cousin Cherry, and my new, super cool cousin in law Ronnie. I can’t wait to see babies running around and even driving in fast cars ( if you know what I mean cuz! ) !
Well, I don’t know, it’s just that everytime that my birthday draws near, I suddenly have this urge to reinvent myself – have my hair fixed/colored, do some drastic shopping in an effort to feel beautiful. Maybe it’s the dread that I’m greeting another year to be added to my life with a frown, and feeling ugly. Being older according to your birth certificate is already enough torture ( hey, I still haven’t gotten to the stage when I appreciate everything, so bear with me. haha! ), so one must greet it with a bang, and prepare for it! Be beautiful, be happy, so that it won’t hurt as much. Haha!

I don’t normally reinvent myself when my birthday comes but this year, I felt the need to change my appearance and look more “grown-up”. I also changed careers and went into a field I never thought I’d be interested in. Wonder if this is going to be a trend from now on?
