I think that the first makeshift nude lipstick was just a dab of concealer on the lips. For eye makeup that’s too dark, it was a rule that only one feature should stand out, and features should not compete for attention. Although that rule has been slowly been challenged by daring makeup artists ( and those looud looks are pulled off quite well, too ), nothing beats the classic nude lipstick. It will always be there, waiting for its perfect time to shine – or rather, tone one feature down to make way for another to stand out!
MAC Fashionflower Collection features one classic nude lipstick called Growing Trend. It is described as a mid-tone taupe nude. It has no hint of peach, just a dark fleshy color. The amplified finish wins my vote as it glides like cream, and does not pose any problem as it easily covers our natural lip color. It doesn’t make me look like a corpse either – the pale-ness of this lip color is not extreme, as it’s a bit dark. Its creamy, somewhat shiny finish also makes me feel that somehow, it was seeking for some attention rather than totally giving 100% of the limelight to my eye makeup. Subtle deception. Haha!
This might not be a shade that I’d use everyday, but hey, this would really be great for those days when I’d like to wear my eyes really bold, and bring more attention to it! I’m not complaining, as it looks really, really chic and fashionable!
