It’s the time of the year again, when all Citizens of Summer ( a.k.a. summer lovers ) flock to the Rockwell Tent, to fall in line patiently, and excitedly make their own, personalized pairs of the official footwear for summer , and for those who always have summer in their hearts ( like me! ) – Havaianas!
Yes, it’s time for the Make Your Own Havaianas 2011! This May 12-14, from 10am to 5pm, it’s time to make your very own special pair of Havaianas, just the way you like it!

I was invited for the pre-event shopping day yesterday, and looks like the MYOH crew is prepared for the crowd today! See those chairs? Yes, they are usually filled up, while other patient Havaianaticos patiently stand to fall in line, with the line extending as far as the bridge!

Inside, you are greeted by displays of available soles, straps, and pins that you can mix and match!

Choices for the soles and straps for the Tops model
For the Tops model, you really gotta see these pretty straps!

Choices for the soles and straps Slim model :

Here are the limited edition soles for the Make Your Own Havaianas 2011 event :

The tan color is for the slim model, while the black one is for the tops model.
Havaianas stamped with potentially beautiful memories of your travels around the world!
For further personalized embellishment, this year’s pins are all about your favorite destinations! In line with the theme : Travel in Personalized Style, ooh, I’m sure you’ll love it! Take a look!

Pretty, aren’t they? As compared to last year, the pins are smaller!

Ask me about my pair? I chose to kept it simple. Attending this event made me go back to my summer state of mind ( as I have been stressed with work lately ), that I am able to create my own Havaianas pair, based on how I am feeling lately :

It reads : I just want to go to the beach and swim, and perhaps stay there for a month and wake up to wonderful sunshine and blue seas. I am totally loving the aqua blue straps! It makes me feel like a mermaid. ( ok, I have to stop I’m bordering loony on what I just said )
My embellishments weren’t so much, as all I wanted was to go to the beach.

The London guard pin reminds me of how much I want to go to London as per my bestfriend’s wonderful tales about her vacation there, while the lucky Chinese pin reminds me of my first, ever international trip- right after college – to Shanghai, China. It was also the first time I felt the freezing cold of a dry winter there. Negative 5 degrees celsius, on a February!

The Harajuku doll pin brings me back to the last international trip with my bestfriends, before M got married and moved to Canada. It was one helluva trip, alright, landing in Osaka, then going to Kyoto, and riding the bullet train to Tokyo, and going back to catch our plane ride back in Osaka. I remember stalking geishas, and really trying so hard to look for them at Gion street, and even moreso looking for cosplayers at Harajuku street! I remember us dragging our luggages while riding the MRTs there, and 70% of the time, there were no escalators – only stairs, that I wanted to toss my luggage so that it’d just go tumbling down! It was an action-packed 6-days worth of walking, shopping, and grabbing good food! Japan will always have a soft spot in my heart.
The I Love NYC pin reminds me of how much I’d like to travel to New York City one day. I’m definitely saving up for that trip. The apple-shaped pin also reminds me of my nickname, Apple, so I was immediately sold to that pin. Haha!
Well, I hope you all have fun creating your own pair of Havaianas this weekend! I’m sure, that for those who love the beach, and those who love to travel will find themselves fondly reminiscing their travels while picking their favorite colors for soles, and straps, and definitely, with the pins that somehow would bring them back to their favorite travel memory.
*Hey, every purchase of the Harajuku Doll pins lets you help as P100.00 goes to the Red Cross operations for Japan!

I was there yesterday and I wish they had the pretty straps for the slim sole too. Sigh! It took me a while to decide because I really wanted the pink/blue combination. Anyway, I took home the tan slim sole design with ocean green straps and my other pair looked like candy to me (ocean green sole and icy pink straps).
Hi Kessa! I know! I hope next year they would come up with more strap choices for the Slim design
I got the “spotted pretty strap 1″ hahaha. top mix pink and lime sole. Summer!
