Sophie Summer Question

It’s no secret that I love beauty products that address specific concerns. I found a keeper with the brand Goodskin Labs, as they come up with products that are not just a product of marketing, but they have products that are not so common, with no-nonsense packaging, that doesn’t just promise to work, but really deliver before you can even wish for something!

To date, I am still very much smitten with their really effective Eyliplex-2 ( oh, how it depuffs the undereyes in the morning! ), and Smooth 365 Intensive Clarity Smoothing Peptide Serum ( this is the best makeup primer I’ve ever tried, without me breaking out! ) . I am excited for Goodskin Labs’ new products to be launched soon!

Well, here’s one good news for you ! Goodskin Labs has partnered with Beautynomics to hold a contest, and up for grabs is a dream Goodskin Labs loot bag – one Tri-Aktiline Total Face Moisturizer + 1 product of your choice ( I recommend the Eyeliplex Eye Cream or the Smoothing Peptide Serum! ) ! Do you want it? All you have to do, is answer the question, “What was your biggest beauty mistake, and how did you solve it? “

To join, answer this question as a comment in this post, and make sure that you have a valid email address that I could contact you if you win! I will be picking the winning entry. Also, please take time to like Goodskin Labs’ Facebook page.

Contest will run from today until 30th of April. Goodluck!

    my biggest beauty mistake is not taking care of my skin as well as i should have. despite my mom’s constant prompting (she’s a die-hard clinique and estee lauder user), i never really maintained any kind of beauty regimen. to say that i abused my skin big time is an understatement, and the scars i bear are testament of this.

    however, when i hit my 30′s (i’m turning 32 on the 29th–gasp!), i finally came to my senses. i’ve been trying to correct the mistakes of my past by at least trying to stick to a basic beauty regimen. and yes, sunscreen IS your friend. =D

    My biggest mistake: treating my skin like the enemy. In my teenage years, I always used harsh products that I thought would be able to eliminate my blemishes. I found harsh products comforting, actually, because I thought seeing my skin peel meant products were working. Now that I’m in my late 20s, I’ve realized that I should be kind to my face. All those harsh products were simply worsening my skin condition. Now I’ve managed to stick to a simple skin care regimen, and I only use moisturizing and non-abrasive products on my face. I’m friends with my face now, and my skin’s never been better :)

    My biggest beauty mistake was using an astringent. The astringent I used was meant for sensitive skin, back then I didn’t have a clue about skin types. I have oily skin, and the astringent dried my skin and made it more oilier and my skin broke-out like crazy! I had mild acne all throughout highschool. I solved it by going to a derma! I tried a lot of stuff and the pimples just keeps coming back so my mom and I decided to go to a derma. It was the best decisio in my life. Right now I have cleared my acne, and still go for a facial regularly since I have big pores and gets clogged. Overall Im happy now that I have better skin :)

    one of biggest mistake that I have done to my skin is I would sleep with make up on…I don’t really wear make up that much but through the years I’ve seen what it has done to my skin. :( now I really do a lot to make up for my laziness in cleaning my face. my skin is actually improving ^_^

    I think mine was putting on a harsh peeling potion all over myself a couple of years back. I think I almost burned my skin with it for not reading instructions and just because I was curious and not careful. Lesson learned. At least I know what a zombie feels like…skin falling off and looking flaky haha

    My biggest beauty mistake was wearing lots of make-up to hide my real skin. Since I was young, I have been very curious about make-up. Growing-up, I started buying lots of make-up items such as eyeshadows, lips glosses, foundations, etc. I figured that if I wear lots of these “stuffs”, I would look more mature. I thought that applying layers and layers of cosmetics will enhance my beauty. Good thing with the help of magazines, and blogs like this, I realized that “less is more” when it comes to putting on make-up. Now, I only apply the basic items – powder and lip balm – to school and whenever I go out. I’m very happy that I feel more confident now that my real beauty shines through.

  11. (April 16th, 2011 at 7:48 pm)

    My biggest mistake is not having enough sleep. Now, I have dark under eye circles and eye wrinkles. >.< I tried concealing with make up but the after a few hours my undereye creases. If only i knew this would happen, I would have taken care of my eyes and my skin earlier. Now, I am trying to have enough sleep and using eye cream to help as well. I am still looking for other remedies.

  12. (April 16th, 2011 at 8:20 pm)

    Staying away from moisturizer was my biggest beauty mistake. I thought that if I use moisturizer my skin will become oilier and that it would only lead to breakouts. But I was wrong. When I changed my beauty product and skin regimen and stick to cleanse-tone-moisturize. Day after day I see better results. My skin looks healthier, hydrated and surprisingly no frequent breakouts. The product that I’m currently using has normalized my skin condition and I’m really happy with the results I’m getting.

    My biggest mistake was to use OCM (Oil Cleansing Method)!

    I even reiterated it in this post that it started my cystic acne & from then on my never ending battle with acne started & is still on going up until now.

    I don’t usually regret things that happens to me… not even on things that i should be regretting about. it’s only my using OCM that i regretted this hard,
    *sigh*

    i can’t say that i’ve solved it already. i just learned to live with it & accept what happened to me. but i will never ever try anything just because a lot of people say that it’s good. that’s why i became a bit skeptic with products that a lot of people usually swear works wonders on them.

    I am now just trying out products based on my own discretion & not because i was swayed with reviews that i have read or heard. I make some research first & also check on the ingredients list to see if there is anything on it that won’t agree to my skin like mineral oils & the like..

    There is one skincare product that I religiously uses everyday, a sunblock with SPF60. It is not the commercially available one rather this product is personally made by my dermatologist which she prescribes to all her clients. I am a person who is always on the go, ha!ha! means I am always outside of the house doing errands other than I’m a fulltime mom. So this sunblock helps me be protected from the harmful sunrays and minimizes dark spots especially this summer.

    Growing up experimenting on facial products and unmindful of warnings ‘to avoid the delicate eye area’ when applying products, I committed the biggest mistake of rubbing these products on my eyes. Add the fact that on certain nights that I cry myself to sleep, I incessantly rub my eyes and apply too much pressure wiping away my tears. The result: undereye circles and fine lines around the eye are.

    Realizing what grave mistake I committed, I began putting milk, avocado, and potato treatments on my eye area. And to up my resolution to save my eyes from further damage, I now religiously apply eye care moisturizers day and night.

    My eyes are my prized possessions because they make me see what’s bright and beautiful It’s just fitting to take care of them well. :)

  16. (April 16th, 2011 at 11:47 pm)

    My biggest beauty mistake probably was popping my pimples. (Please don’t get grossed out.) I was acne prone in my teens. I got this really very bad habit of popping my pimples. =( For some reason, I felt that I would like to get rid of ‘em faster before my next ‘derma session’.

    I regret my pimple-popping habit because even after I’m done with the phase, my skin was left with nasty deep scars. Scars of my pimple-popping past. =( To solve it, I consulted my dermatologist and she prescribed oral Isotretinoin to help clear my skin of pimples. To get rid of the scars, she then suggested for me to undergo Diamond Peel every other week and to use the Obagi Nu Derm line. My skin cleared up and the scars gradually lightened up in 2 months time. Following this regimen did wonders for my skin.

    Today I still break out from when I have monthly ‘hormonal issues’. But I’m never going to get back to that bad, bad habit ever again.

    My biggest beauty mistake is that I have gotten into the habit of furiously rubbing my eyes. I’ve been doing this since I was a child, and it doesn’t matter if I have make up on. When I’m tired, my allergies are acting up, there is an itchy feeling, etc. I will rub at my eyes. I’ve tried to stop but I just do it so unconsciously. My under eye area is really dry and I’m sure to get even more pre-mature wrinkles there…

    My biggest beauty mistake would be experimenting too much with my face. My hardest critic has always been myself, and though my parents would always tell me that I am beautiful just the way I am, I used to be on the lookout for the best products to deal with breakouts, fine lines, pimple scars or whatever I see in the mirror that I don’t like. These brought on more complications that kept me looking for more solutions, a never-ending cycle that frustrated me.

    I believe that with age, more understanding, and a lot of reading(forums, beauty blogs, etc) have helped me observe a normal skin regimen using some natural products and others that are suited to my skin. Cleansing, toning, and moisturizing has for a few years now been a part to the start and end my day. Also, an always-positive attitude helps when a zit shows up every now and then (plus a great zit cream!) or when I notice the few lines in my forehead (miss brainiac in action!)

    I think something’s working, as my HS friends would tell me that I still look the same when we were in highschool, if not better. ;)

    My biggest beauty mistake was not spot-testing first when trying out a new skincare product. Just because the product I bought was expensive and came highly recommended, I didn’t bother to spot-test first to see how my skin will react to it. Instead, I placed the skin product all over my face. My skin didn’t react to the facial wash and toner too well. It caused it to break out and I had to go to a dermatologist to help clear my skin. It turned out that the product was too strong for my highly-sensitive skin.

    My biggest beauty mistake would be exfoliating everyday, twice a day with a harsh facial scub. I replaced it with my regular face wash because I thought exfoliating kept my skin looking so smooth. After a few weeks of over-exfoliating, my face my skin became extremely oily and sensitive. I solved it by of course limiting my exfoliation once to twice a week and I solved the oily skin problem by actually using moisturizer, which is the celeteque moisturizing gel intended for oily skin.

    Putting sunscreen once and assume I’m protected all-day as well as scrubbing acne away, most especially when I used astringent in my early teens. These regimen resulted to massive break-outs and burns. None are working for me.

    It’s highly recommended to seek professional advise. I learned that the solution is not only using sunscreen more often, but applying more of it to attain that whatever SPF level I’m using. It’s not a one apply big time thing to say your protected from UV.

    I also learned that acne is not a hygiene problem but hormonal, so don’t scrub it away. Instead, I gave my self few days to revisit my beauty regimen to know what are the ingredients that works for my skin and those that are giving me break-outs. The skin doctor can’t tell us for real what are the ingredients we need to avoid because some of them works for others. I just wash my face gently, tone and moisturize and sunscreen during day time. I always go back to basic and I always read the labels.

    My biggest beauty mistake was not using sunscreen early on. I developed freckles on my face because of this. I have started using sunscreens with high spf and hopefully my sunspots will further diminish.

    I have THE WEIRDEST skin. It’s very dry, and very sensitive. I do not have eczema or anything like that, luckily, so I never really considered what actually might be IN my products.
    It was my senior year of high school, and the weather was just starting to get warm, so I was transitioning winter products to summer products. I purchased this compact powder from a sensitive skin line, and BOY WAS THAT A MISTAKE!
    I’ve since found out that products intended for sensitive skin do NOT work for me. Whatever additives and fillers they use for people allergic to normal products are apparently the ingredients that I’m allergic to. I cannot wear most Almay products, Burt’s Bees (at least their deep cleansing cream), or non-latex bandages.
    Everything else works for me. I’ve never had any issues with average products, unless it’s marketed for people with sensitive skin.
    Long story short, that powder made the entire lower half of my face break out in this itchy allergic reaction. Despite anti-itch creams and gels, I still itched it without realizing what I was doing until it was too late. The day of my ‘senior picnic’, I was itching my poor chin when suddenly a huge flake ripped off, pulling my lone beauty mark along with it. Needless to say I bled all over the place.
    I tried everything to get rid of that allergic reaction. Finally I slathered on Crisco. Yep, Crisco. My dad uses it on his eczema prone legs to help heal the patches, and WOW did it work. After like three days (after two weeks of suffering) my reaction stopped itching and went away.
    After that disaster, it’s very rare I have an allergic reaction to anything. It took three or four more reactions to realize what was happening, but after I stopped using hypo-allergenic products or natural products, I haven’t had a breakout since. And should it happen, I always turn to olive oil and Crisco. This might not work for someone who has normal or oily skin, but it works for me.
    All in all, this was a great lesson learned — to spot test products, and to not use products that aren’t meant for your skin.

    My biggest beauty mistake was self-medicating. Trying lots of products only aggrevated my pimples. Finally took a friend’s advice to go to her dermatologist. Happy now. :)

  25. (April 18th, 2011 at 11:53 am)

    My biggest beauty mistake was when I used my Mom’s facial cream when i was in college. Thinking and not reading the label at the back I sneak on putting on and applying the astringent and anti melanin cream she used to use before and it made my face itch and red. Even I rinsed it off it got irritated due to strong chemicals in it.. they say “curiosity kills the cat” LOL.. good thing!

    My biggest mistake was self medicating. I still remember when I was just 15 years old, very conscious on my looks on that time, someone advised me to used “sioktong” then add leaves I forgot what kind. Before i go to sleep used it as cleanser to get “daw” super kinis and my will erase all my whiteheads especially on my nose (that’s my biggest problem on that time). But I got the worst result, little whiteheads but blackheads now on my nose. I regret what I’ve done and stopped my “so-so” solution.I just used a cleanser and mild soap like what my mother says and it works for me. from then I learned a lesson that what is good for other skin won’t have the same result with me.

  27. (April 18th, 2011 at 1:23 pm)

    What was your biggest beauty mistake, and how did you solve it?

    During my younger years, I never experienced breakouts but my face is not flawless that’s why I was always dreaming of having a flawless face. When I get a chance I used different beauty products to the point of overloading it on my face. The breakouts are horrendous, for a year, I can’t really bear seeing myself to mirror. Finally, when it stop, I learn to first try any new products under my ears overnight. Then I don’t overload from the time i experience that breakouts. To this day, now that I’ 33, I only use mild beauty products or sometimes organic products. This time I don’t use bar soap but instead facial wash, I religiously use day and night cream, I even have my serum and eye cream and sunblock. I now achieved flawless skin thanks to these products and healthy living as well as sessions with diamond peel. It help me feel confidence.

    I could tell you several which range from my hair to my toenails haha but the worst beauty mistake i did was to put on a foundation that did not match my skintone only to realize it later on when my photos were posted in a networking site! Talk about major blunder! The least I could do was remove my name from the tags. From then on, I always do a test shot on my make-up before i leave the house ;)

  29. (April 18th, 2011 at 3:39 pm)

    the biggest beauty mistake I have ever done was take my skin for granted in the past years. :( My skin is oily so I am very prone to pimples. My skin sure needs extra care and I should have been more diligent in doing so. But in the past years, I was too irresponsible and didn’t even bother to find skin care products that are made for oily skin, and there were nights I didn’t wash my face!! Nowadays, I am in the process of recovering from my blemishes and I have found oil control products that slowly smoothen the rough areas of my face and erase the blemishes too. I have already become faithful to my skincare regimen and it’s giving me good results. :)

    The first couple of months I learned how to use make-up, I just washed it off with cold water. What a booboo. I even slept with it on sometimes! I’ve had the WORST BREAKOUTS because of it until I discovered a good make-up remover. Make-up products can be really toxic on the skin, especially the face, that’s why I really invest on the good products!

  31. (April 18th, 2011 at 5:39 pm)

    It’s a big, big mistake to follow beauty trends just because they’re new and they’re hot. What works on some, even on celebrities, does not mean they will also work on you. Believe me ‘coz I’ve been there and done that.

    My immature curiosity triggered my “dark days” with adult acne, leaving blemishes every now and then on my face. What’s worse, my jobs back then required me to stay up late for events and meet different people. Just imagine the embarrassment that I got and how frequent that happened.

    To solve this problem, I went back to the basics and I became conscious with the ingredients of every beauty product that I buy. Gone are the days of experimenting every new product I see in stores just to be “in”. I do my research before buying, and once I find the product that does not do trouble on my skin, I stick with it. I’ve also included organic skincare and makeup products in my stash. Hence, whenever those people who used to tease me harshly because of my acne meet me now, they would wonder aloud how I take care of my skin, because according to them, I look 25 than a 29-year-old going 30. :)

    “What was your biggest beauty mistake, and how did you solve it? “

    ~~~ My biggest beauty mistake is not having enough hours of sleep and let my skin suffer. I was used to sleeping late and so now, I have dark under eye circles and eye wrinkles. I tried concealing it but after few hours my under eye creases. If only I was a lot careful with my skin, this will not happen. Now, I’m trying my best to have enough sleep and I always use the all natural cucumber to remove the eye bags! =(
  33. (April 18th, 2011 at 7:12 pm)
    My biggest beauty mistake would be NOT drinking enough water. My lips were perpetually chapped, and my face was dry and oily at the same time. Now, I try to drink as much water as I can so look Ma, smooth lips!
    My biggest beauty mistake was not putting on moisturizer. Since I have oily skin, I thought that I didn’t need one and I presumed that avoiding such would make me less oily. However, because I was using a lot of products that were drying (such as those with salicylic acid), my skin eventually became dull and i had a number of dry patches around my face. My skin looked very unhealthy and then I realized that girls like me who have oily skin still need hydration that moisturizers give.
    Since then, I’ve been on the hunt for a good moisturizer. My current favorite has drastically improved my skin condition. Today, I am enjoying supple and healthy skin.
    Hi Sophie… I guess my biggest beauty mistake is over plucking my eyebrows. I am still paying for this mistake and solving it is not easy. I try to grow them out but there are still areas that are sparse so I always have with me a waterproof eyebrow pencil to fill in the spaces. In my quest of reviving my eyebrows I will try any eyebrow serum out there and I think I might even try if there is a surgical procedure for this. But for now I opt to grow them out and stop myself from plucking =P
    My biggest beauty mistake…..
    was putting different products when I was in my teenage time….just tried to look more beautiful with my 1st-ever-love boyfriend…. that’s why I used it…!!! and to add with that…I love make-ups but most of the time especially when I was really, really tired I sleep with make-ups on :( …..
    Now…, just trying to restore my skin….try to wash regularly my skin most especially when I have make-ups…I started to use Pond’s pure white Deep Cleansing Facial Foam after that I put Pond’s white beauty detox Spot-less White Cream.I know that…, on this kind of products may help my skin become radiant just like before.???
    My biggest beauty mistake is sleeping late and I do it over and over again due to my workload. I get really hideous dark circles under my eyes which make me look like some sort of zombie. My quick fix is to use Bobbi Brown’s Corrector and Concealer to hide them, but for the long term I am in constant search for that perfect eye cream. I’ve used at least ten kinds of eye cream but so far none have been successful in lightening my dark circles permanently. Here’s hoping I win the promo so I can try out Good Skin Labs’ legendary Eyliplex-2. :)
    Hi sophie. My biggest beauty mistake was when I taken for granted the importance of taking care my skin at early age as possible. I started working when I was 18, staying out of the sun was always a routine for me. Applying sunblock or skin protectant was not on my lists of daily routine. I just work and work and work, no time for some beauty regimen. Until I recognized at the age of 30, wrinkles appeared on my forehead and lots on my eyes. Since then, I tried using anti-wrinkle serum as recommended by a friend but it does’nt work out. If only I could turn back time and become concious about my skin, for sure it will not happen that wrinkles will appear at early age. Until now, Im still looking for effective product that will help to lessen some of my flaws. I know it not too late. By the way, your blogs really helps a lot. God bless u and more power!
    Good morning. My biggest beauty mistake would be not taking care of my skin like I should have. Such examples would be sleeping with makeup on, popping pimples, etc., etc. I realized my mistakes while I was in my 30′s and started taking better care of my skin. Now that I am going on 42, I get compliments all the time how great my skin looks and I look like I’m in my early 30′s. I am on the hunt for a new line for anti-aging products and would love to try this out. Thanks!!
    When I was younger I’ve always dreamed of having a fair skin so I use a whitening toner, cleanser and almost all whitening products and my biggest beauty mistake was I never used a sunscreen protection. The result my skin got burned and it has dark spots..Now that I realized the importance of sunscreen protection, I make sure that I put on a sunblock/sunscreen everytime I go out. And of course, always read the label and the contents of the products I use. I learned that my skin is precious and I should only rely on products that truly cares on my skin’s needs.
    My biggest beauty mistake was popping my zits!! I’ve learned to resist the urge, because popping zits prematurely only leads to scars and other skin booboos!
  44. (April 20th, 2011 at 6:57 pm)
    The biggest beauty mistake I ever made was neglecting my skin and not properly taking care of it. I have combination skin mostly oily prone to breakouts. And to make matters worse my skin is reacts adversely to the most raved about products in the market.
    Because I have tried and failed before I just didn’t take care of my skin and tried to conceal its imperfections with makeup. I now know better and have learned that I should invest in skin products that are worth the money. :) Ironically, it seems that my skin only reacts positively to products that are high end. I learned to research and stay away from products that make my skin worse. I learned to try and ask for samples so I don’t end up with so many products that are just unloved and unused.
    Our skin is really precious and as most people say, it is our canvass in applying makeup. My skin may be far for perfect but I believe it is healthier and more supple nowadays. =)
    Biggest beauty mistake would definitely be not wearing sunscreen at all during my college years! I used to live in a pad that was right across the university, so I opted to walk to school everyday (15 minute walk) to save on transportation costs. I never even used an umbrella even when it was sooo hot because I was too tamad to bring one. By the time I reached the school campus my skin would be so red, but I didn’t care then. Now I can only imagine four years worth of sun damage on my skin!!! :( Not to mention that I developed a mild form of rosacea after college. My face would turn really red if I expose myself under the sun for prolonged periods :(
    Well, I can’t correct the sun damage from not wearing sunscreen in the past but since my early 20s I have been religiously applying sunscreen to my face daily, at least SPF40. I don’t stay out in the sun too long so my rosacea won’t act up.
    Biggest beauty mistake is to put on a lot of products to my face all at once. The more I put, the more I breakout. Now, I limit it to just wash/moisturizer/sunblock and my skin is at its best :)
    My biggest beauty mistake was not using sunblock (before) at all. When you’re young, you think you can get away with anything. But the skin’s like a living witness to everything you’ve put yourself through; if you treat yourself (as a whole) well, it will show. I’m thankful I learned the value of using sunblock, though I have a few freckles now, hopefully they wont get any worse. The world isn’t what it used to be, so arm up, ladies! :) Thanks, Sophie!
    my biggest beauty boo-boo is also my worst habit: constantly rubbing my eyes! as a result, i have very dark circles from all the bruising my skin and veins get from the friction. i also have allergies and i’ve read that they make my undereye circles worse. :(
    i’m now trying to kick the habit but damage has already been done. i can only cover up with correctors and concealers because none of the eye creams i’ve tried has made a difference. i’m really hoping to win this contest so i can try the much-raved about Eylipex-2, which i can’t afford to buy on my own. and since i have really dry skin, the Tri-Aktiline Moisturizer would be perfect for my skincare regimen. :)
    My biggest beauty mistake was I used astringent that is not prescribed by my dermaologist, I just bought it over the counter. My skin got irritated and it took me a year before my skin got recovered from redness and burn. It was resolved by using hypoallergenic facial wash, for a year no harsh soaps, makeups.
    I had a family funeral to go to and needed to color my hair (roots, you know). I grabbed a brand different from the one I usually use, but the same color. Being a natural redhead, the colors always turn out darker. I put the new one on – the night before the funeral, and I am glow-in-the-dark road cone orange! I panic a few minutes then run next door to my neighbor, who is a hairdresser. She put on some kind of neutralizer (after just about wetting herself laughing at me) and it turned bright purple!!! Now, we are both panicking. Checked the box, yep, has some sort of metal ingredient that caused the purple. So, she called her boss (who owned the salon) and he told her he would meet her at the salon, he had something that would save it. (Fri. nite – salon closed). Had to wash it about 10 times, but we managed to save my hair – and my ego at the funeral. Never used that brand again.
    Also, tried a new haircut when I was young – the lady paid no attention to what I was saying and cut it so short, the hair on my arms was longer than the hair on my head. I locked myself in my room for a week (it was summer, I was 16) and cried. Thank goodness my hair grew fast.
    In Collge I used to wear nothing but powder on my face… so I would use Rimmel pressed powder foundation to cover up my dark circles and wear nothing else. No lipstick, no blush, nothing. Once, for a presentation I decided to wear a bit more makeup and used black pencil liner all around my eyes with no mascara or eyeshadow – looked so weird on my already small eyes! I also wore the wrong foundation shade for yeaaars (first B.E. Medium Tan & then a custom mix of EDM that progressively became too dark as my sunscreen wearing took effect – totally didn’t even notice until someone on class pointed it out in my photos lol). I also learned how to wear eyeshadow before mascara, so I walked around with shimmery lashes for a while. Also when I started wearing lipstick I was afraid of light colors so I wore lighter-than-my-natural-lips colors for quite a long time without realizing it was making me look slightly sickly before my boyfriend gently pointed it out to me.
    Most recently, I’ve had some horrid cystic acne due to lack of sleep and stress and at first I tried covering it up with more concealer and powder. Looked horrrrible – all cakey and flaking at the same time. I’ve resigned myself to just wearing nothing but sunscreen on my poor nose ’till it gets better.
    Not using sunblock during my younger years was the biggest beauty mistake I’ve ever made. Now, I can see few premature wrinkles in my forehead. To solve this, I regularly use a moisturizer with sunblock in the morning and an anti-aging moisturizer before I sleep.
    My biggest beauty mistake happened a few years back–I overexfoliated! It was my first time to try and add exfoliating to my beauty regimen because I’ve always been good with just soap. But when I did, the result on the first day was just too good to be true so I exfoliated every single day without cleansing, toning and moisturizing. Well, not for long my mistake has taken it’s toll and I got breakouts because of that. Until now I’m still trying to tame my zits that have initially been triggered by that mistake.
    My biggest, most epic beauty blunder was using apprently-expired liquid foundation — my mom’s leftovers! Can you blame a high school kid on a budget? Of course it led to a shiny,oil-drenched face within minutes & the worsening of my teenage acne! Totally horrendous! So fast forward XX years & I’ve learned my lesson with pore minimizing serum & fresh powder foundation :-)
    Biggest mistake for me is underestimating the importance of drinking enough water. You’d think it’s just a simple task, but really, I think a lot of people are guilty of this and I just don’t know what makes it so hard, LOL. I did not take it seriously until signs of dehydration and lines starts showing on my skin. Good thing it’s not too late! Been drinking at least 2L of water each day and religiously moisturizing my skin at least 2x a day :D
    In my attempt to save money, I pricked at my own pimples. You should have seen me during my sophomore years in college, I turned 18 and whoa! my face suddenly became pimple prone and oily. I tried covering the pimples with make up foundation even buying the green cake foundation to even out the color of my flushed cheeks to no avail. Good thing, my mom came to my rescue and went with me to a very good dermatologist who made my skin clear as you can see today.
    “What was your biggest beauty mistake, and how did you solve it? “
    I clean my face with papaya soap and water but I’m not fond of applying something in my face like powder, moisturizer or even sunblock before, it feels heavy and greasy for me,BIG Mistake! as a result during my early 20s I started to have warts in some areas of my face..I visited a derma and have a Cauterization, it quite painful and one thing she advice me that there are 3 steps we should remember-To cleanse, moisturizer and apply sunscreen.. the last thing is always ignore by most of us, resulting to age spots, warts, etc..
    Another thing I remember is the song by Baz Luhrmann Everybody’s Free (To Wear Sunscreen) if you listen to it and read the lyrics you’ll never forget to wear sunscreen..I never to forget to wear it!
    My biggest beauty mistake was abusing my hair with chemical treatments. I was born with naturally wavy hair (my parents both had curly hair so there was zero chance for me to have the coveted shampoo-ad straight hair). During my younger years, I hated my wavy hair and had it relaxed when I was 13. I had my hair rebonded twice after, permed when I was 16, and then rebonded it again for the last time when I was 17. I loved how my hair looked after every treatment, but hated how damaged it would become after a few months. Plus, there is nothing uglier than having wavy roots growing out with to stiff, straight tips on your hair. This was when I realized that this can’t go on forever (and it was so costly as well). I decided to just accept my natural hair’s texture and work on with repairing the damages. I have my weekly DIY hair spa at home, and I now use my trusty Special FX Curl Booster. I love how this products tightens my curls – I just wash my hair, spray it on, scrunch it up, and go! Now, I’m loving my wavy (and sometimes curly locks), and won’t trade it for chemically treated pin-straight hair anytime soon!
    I used to sleep with my makeup on! When I found out that it’s not recommended because it can cause pimples and breakouts, I make sure that I wash off my makeup before going to bed :P That’s the reason why I have pimples during college. I had to read tons of books and sometimes I fall asleep while studying (with makeup on)
  62. (April 28th, 2011 at 3:29 pm)
    My biggest beauty mistake was when I started to learn how to do makeup. I always watch my mom do hers and out of curiosity I said to myself that I would surprise her that I already know how to do my own makeup (btw I was only 12 then). Damn how I looked like a clown when I looked in the mirror! Can you imagine not putting foundation first before the others? I solved the problem by asking my tita to help me out. With her help I finally got the gist of it and all went well. I really surprised my mom and she was very happy. But I think she’ll be more surprised (or shocked is the better word) if she had seen the first makeup haha!
    One Word.
    Smoking.
    and if asked how did i solve it?
    One Word again.
    QUIT.
    My health wasn’t a motivation enough for me to quit before, but vanity did convince me. The toxins in cigarettes cause decreased oxygen flow to my skin, resulting in a very dull complexion…and it’s fugly to the core. So yeah I managed to quit. It wasn’t easy yet the progress was excellent. Determination pays well! :) )
    My biggest beauty mistake was being AFRAID to try on beauty products that could protect and help my skin from wrinkling, peeling and exposure from the sun. Also, when I was younger and had pimples, sometimes, I pinch my pimples every time they occur on my face and some scars are still visible now.
    So, by the age of 19, I started using some beauty products that could help my skin be protected..But up to now, i’m still a newbie to many products and is just trying to try out some products.. And since I was too innocent to use beauty products, I tried some products without reviewing the product..By just knowing that its for this and that, I tried it on. And sometimes, it had some bad effects on my skin. One time, I tried a beauty soap and it really gave me pimples on my face, so I was afraid then to use again beauty products…
    Yes, I’m still afraid to try a lot of stuff. I know that sometime, i would really learn to use beauty products that could really help my skin. And just recently, I’ve learned to use face cream products and it helped put a glow on my face with no side effects..This is just the start… :) and sometime, soon enough, i’ll learn how to use these products and help me and my skin look healthier.. :)
    My biggest skin boo boo was sleeping without thoroughly washing my skin first during high school. I was never a vain person (and was thoroughly lazy on skin regimens) so I never thought it would be a big deal. Lo and behold, I eventually developed pimples of all sizes. When my derma told me about how sleeping on semi-dirty skin damages it eventually. I resolved that, okey, I am still lazy on skin regimens but at least I keep my skin clean and clear before going to bed. Not much pimple problems after that.
    My biggest beauty mistake was not consulting with a dermatologist about how to take care of my skin. I thought that getting a monthly facial would do wonders for my face. The pain of having facials is horrendous. It does help my skin, for about a week or so, but the zits return and populate my face once again. I thought that consulting with a dermatologist is too expensive when I can bypass that step. I thought wrong. When I finally consulted with a dermatologist, she explained to me that my skin type does not need all the torture it’s getting from facial treatments. In fact, it’s doing more harm! And so, after that, I became free from the pain of unnecessary facials. I have learned to entrust my skin to the experts. :)
    Thinking that I am not beautiful. I am most affected by my physical flaws. Even if we all think that beauty is not limited to how we look, there are times when society does not look any deeper and would treat people by some preconceived standards. Still, I believe that one owes it to himself/herself to look his/her best.
    For me, it’s an ongoing struggle really. I have come to accept my flaws. And I trying to see the positive in me.
    My biggest beauty mistake was pricking my pimples when I was in high school. I never thought they could leave scars that are irreversible. Until now, I’m still finding ways to fade them all in my face. However, prevention is better than cure as they say. So now, whatever there is in my face, I don’t dare anymore touch it.
