Remember my Pretty Powerful Entry I’ve written weeks ago ? Well, here’s a sneak peak on what I did to achieve my “>Pretty Powerful look – a tutorial yay! ( I try, I try! haha! )

We’re using the Bobbi Brown Pretty Palette, alongside various Bobbi Brown makeup products. The Bobbi Brown Pretty Palette is a palette that is good for applying eyebrow color, a light eye makeup look ( specifically, pinks ) and a really natural lip color + gloss. I say this would help you achieve a very fresh look. Nothing too bright or flashy, this is for au naturelle lovers out there.

Please use the photo above for reference of the shades included in the palette. This makeup tutorial is sort of a makeup tutorial for Asian eyes- as my eyes are Asian! :)

On to our step by step makeup tutorial!

STEP1A

Apply Primer On Face
I prime my face with the proper skin care and makeup primer. Primers make my pores less visible, and conditions my skin for makeup application. Use a foundation brush, to brush on lightly primer all over the face.

Correct Undereyes with Bobbi Brown Corrector
First, I target my undereyes and seek to make them brighter. This step, I call correcting. I cancel out the darkness on my undereyes brought about by blue veins – which is caused by lack of sleep and stress!
Using the Bobbi Brown Corrector in Light Bisque, I use a small concealer brush and pat some product on my undereyes. I use my fingers to blend, as the warmth of my fingers make the cream product blend in better on my skin. Blend, blend, blend.

Conceal and Set Undereyes with Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit
I conceal. I use the concealer in the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit, and apply it using my concealer brush on top of the area that I have placed my corrector on. I carefully pat it on so as not to “erase” the corrector’s effects.

I set it with the yellow-colored powder included in the kit afterwards.

Tadah, bright undereyes! Initial effect?
With powerful eyes, I am able to express happiness in them, smile with them, and look presentable with bright eyes.

STEP1b

Apply Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation on Face
Now, I apply Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation all over my face, using a foundation brush. You can also use a stippling brush for an airbrushed finish, but for coverage, a foundation brush is most reliable! I love this as you only need a little to obtain good, natural-looking coverage, and it doesn’t look like a mask, as you apply this. It still looks like your skin, only more radiant, and fresh! Minor imperfections are covered right away with this.

Set Liquid Foundation with Pressed/Mineral/Loose Powder
I now set my liquid foundation with pressed powder and setting powder ( for oil control )

For my Pretty Powerful eye makeup, here’s how I did it, step by step :

step2a

Fill in Eyebrows Using Caviar Eyeshadow
I use the Caviar Eyeshadow from the Bobbi Brown Pretty Palette to fill in my super sparse eyebrows. The brown is not too dark that can draw good, natural-looking brows. Draw, draw, draw.

Apply Eyeshadow Primer, and Eyeshadow Base.
I apply eyeshadow primer for my eyeshadows to have something to adhere to on my lids. I start using the colors in the Bobbi Brown Pretty Palette, starting with the Ivory shade. I apply this shade all over the lids, which gives a brightening effect.

Apply Color on Lid ( til Crease )
I now apply…pink! I start with the satin-y matte shade Pink Flannel Eyeshadow on my lids. I apply this from my lash line, up til I feel my eye-socket bone. I blend the edges, but this is such a soft shade that it doesn’t even need blending!

As someone having small eyes, I would need all the brightening on my eyes I can have, so shimmer is a must-have for me. Good thing that the Bobbi Brown Pretty Palette has a shimmery pink shade, the Pink Chiffon Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow. I layered this on top of the previously applied Pink Flannel Eyeshadow. Okay, my eyes are starting to attract light because of the shimmer! Happiness!

step2b

Apply Eyeliner.
I now define the shape of my eyes using eyeliner. I use a double-eyelining trick here – I apply the Chocolate Caviar eyeshadow shade rather thickly using an angled liner brush, and double-line it using a gel liner, which is applied a bit thinner than the eyeshadow-eyeliner application. It gives the eyes more depth that way.

I also lined my lower lashline, rather thinly with the brown eyeshadow.
A good tip on brightening the eyes, specially for small eyes, is lining the waterline with a bright white, or flesh pencil eyeliner.

Curl Your Lashes, and Apply Mascara.
I curl my lashes, and apply mascara. I am using Bobbi Brown Well Defined Mascara. It totally gives my lashes the length, the volume, and holds the curl pretty well ( which is a great feat since my lashes are so defiant! )

The effect so far? Happy eyes that sparkle with glee! It’s a wonderful thing to share happiness, and for it to show on your eyes!

For the final steps – the cheeks, and the lips!

stepbystep3

Apply Blush!
Now, for that healthy flush, I apply the very Pretty Pink Blush shade from the Bobbi Brown Pretty Powerful Palette. I smile, and start applying from there, brushing a C-shape from the cheekbones and blending further to my hairline.

Apply Lipcolor!
To cap things off, I apply the Sandwash Pink Lip Color on my lips, a very universally flattering brownish pink shade. It’s a very pretty your-lips-but-better shade! I top it off with Bubble Bath Lip Gloss, to complete my fresh, natural look.

Effect? Bright, happy, healthy looking cheeks, and naturally luscious lips! I love the overall look that my Bobbi Brown Pretty Palette gives me as I just feel like I look like I’m still very much me, but looking more fresh, and polished! As mentioned in earlier, I do think that this is a great Asian eye makeup look, as there are times that those who have Asian eyes need not try to emphasize their crease, and just apply that lovely wash of single color on their lid, and they’re good to go! They just need to blend the outer edges quite well. This also applies to all eye types, as you can achieve a good, quick eye makeup look with just a wash of color!

before and after

With the Pretty Palette, I definitely feel pretty, and powerful at the same time. I’m keeping this with me for a long, long time!

Well, what do you think? I’d love to hear from you!
