Last year, I was given a chance to try the Smooth 365 Intensive Clarity Smoothing Peptide Serum. What is it?

This peptide-infused, all over face serum helps skin amplify its natural collagen production while instantly blurring the look of lines & wrinkles for visibly less lined skin. Immediately upon application, skin’s clarity, tone and texture are instantly improved which allows makeup to be applied seamlessly for a flawless finish.

To sum up, it gives you three powerful ingredients giving the following benefits -

Clarity-Promoting Extracts – perfect skintone for a more uniform, translucent complexion
Optical Diffusers – instantly blur imperfections, lines and wrinkles
Power Peptides – boost collagen production to help keep skin less lined

This product seems really really promising, just reading up on what it has to offer and what it can do for the skin. Being the skin care buff that I am, I definitely put it on a hotseat, as good things like this are difficult to pass up, if they really do live up to their expectations!

First of all, it says that it’s a serum, but the product literature suggests that aside from the Smooth 365 Intensity Clarity Smoothing Peptide Serum being applied on the face, a moisturizer should follow. So it means that this is not a standalone skin prepping product – it would need the help of some other friends like the moisturizer and sunblock. Haha! Going on, I squirted a small amount of product and tried to feel it in my hands – it was definitely velvety smooth – it’s definitely the work of the three kinds of silicone that the Smoothing Peptide Serum has. Silicones are just wonder ingredients that smoothen any uneven surface and create that perfect makeup base, and make makeup last for a long, long time on the face, without oxidizing. It’s my favorite ingredient to watch out for in primers, as it really makes the difference. But then, silicone can sometimes some people to break out, or have some “buildup” on the skin, so I only use them for occasions when I want some heavy duty makeup.

Now knowing that the product has three kinds of silicones, I immediately re-categorized it, as from being a skin care product, into a makeup primer. I am not willing to apply silicone on my face twice a day, and even during lazy days, as I have open pores and I have the tendency to break out from silicone if used too often. But then, that’s just me.

Moving on, using it as a makeup base, I applied it on my face prior to my full makeup application just in time to man my booth at the Rockwell Moonlit Bazaar ( note that I tried this product for a month ) . It felt really light on the skin – around 50% lighter as compared to my other makeup primers out there, but I could already feel the smoothness the moment I applied it, like my skin was just poreless and ready for makeup. I applied my normal day makeup of concealer, and foundation, and set off for the day at the bazaar.

Okay, call me vain, but I think my dad sometimes gets irritated that I just love looking at myself in front of the visor-mirror in the car. Hahahaha! It’s because I like looking at myself when I’m bored like that. I was extra glued to my reflection that day, because my skin seemed to be “reflecting.” Like it was poreless, and it was reflecting. They say that only perfectly smooth surfaces reflect, right? I was in awe as it was my first time to see my skin like that. Okay, not so perfect – my big depressed scars took me back to reality as they weren’t smoothen-ed out by the primer, but the pores around my nose, on my cheeks, on my chin, were all almost nonexistent that my face looked like it was glowing! And my skin wasn’t oily to say the least!

As the day progressed with me at the bazaar, I was happy as I didn’t need to retouch even by a single bit. My makeup was still very much there! I noticed that my skin got oily, finally, by 10pm ( I did my makeup around 10am ). I deemed that to be really amazing, so consider me impressed!

By the end of the day, as I took my makeup off, I had difficulty getting it out just by plain facial wash. Even using a cottonball with Glycolic Toner proved to be difficult – it still had lots of makeup on my cottonball. I say that remove this product completely before going to bed, and take patience. Haha! I roadtested this for three days, and so far, no breakouts, I’m satisfied with its primer capabilities, and I think that this is a keeper, and definitely a lifesaver when you are in dire need of budge-proof makeup for the day.

Up to this day, I still love this, and wear this during my night outs and formal events, or days wherein I need my makeup to stay put no matter what. It really lives up to my expectations!
