Madly chic women know how to play variations on a theme to give a signature look major oomph, more modern momentum; the simplest switch-up is all that’s required. A pink lip, a lavender eye? A red lip, an orange eye? Stylishly Yours is a MAC presto-change-o colour collection to personalize the process instantly. Always flawlessly fabulous, set against the sophistication of black, work the full spectrum of passionate pinks to raging reds, in four Lipsticks, four Pigments, four Cream Colour Base, two Beauty Powders, Clear Lipglass, and don’t panic – Zoom Lash and Fluidline at the ready to double-dramatize how glamorous it is to be you.

I don’t consider myself a madwoman ( any objections? THERE BETTER NOT BE ANY! ), but I strive, and strive to be chic. Hahaha! Stylishly Yours by MAC dares me to be stylish in my color choices, I’d say!

Stylishly Yours
can be considered as one of the more playful, and colorful collections of MAC Cosmetics. Playful hues that is for the bold at heart. But it’s definitely a good way to start the New Year with bright colors, isn’t it?

I do have a few pieces from the MAC Stylishly Yours Collection, and here’s my say on each on them!

Looks bright and colorful, eh?

MAC Pigments in New Fixation and Violet

MAC Pigments, I must admit, take forever to finish up. I need to confess that I’ve never finished one full bottle of a MAC Pigment ( has anyone ? raise your hand, please! ). They’re incredibly beautiful, and incredibly pigmented that you only need so little product to use, and the application area, the eyes, are just such small areas! ( not unless you plan to go avant garde and go on unchartered territories haha! ) So there, they never go away in my drawer for years, and years, and they never seem to be used up even by half. Haha! New Fixation is a bright fuchsia red with soft pearl, while Violet is a vivid violet red purple. I find Violet to be the more wearable of the two as violets, and purples are more widely used colors on the eyes, while New Fixation would remain to be in my avante-garde makeup stash.

MAC Zoom Lash in New Hue

MAC Cosmetics’ mascara Zoom Lash in New Hue is a blackened burgundy shade – so it’ not entirely black, it’s a black with some influence of purple color, in my opinion. Not exactly my favorite shade of mascara as I am a black loyalist in terms of mascara color – my eyes need saving and definition, and it needs the darkest color! But then, MAC mascaras are easy to use as they don’t clump, and apply beautifully on the lashes. Zoom effect? I can say that they really help define the eyes and the effort in applying them is not futile.

MAC Fluidline in Dark Diversion is a blackened plum shade of gel eyeliner. MAC Cosmetics’ gel eyeliners are really to rave for as they’re on of the brands that don’t smudge on me. I’ve stayed loyal to MAC Fluidlines in Blacktrack ( a really strong black ) and Dipdown ( a dark brown ) for years in makeup school, and they’ve never failed me. Dark Diversion, on the pot, looks like a blood-brown color, and is definitely less dark and prominent than Blacktrack and Dipdown. I had a little trouble applying this at first as I was really used to solid, strong lines on my eyes ( my eyes are small they need some big-genning! haha! what a word! ) , but after some effort, I was able to do so. Effect was good, it definitely defined my eyes, giving it a soft definition. I could definitely use this. It’s a lovely shade to have around if I’d want to have something a little bit toned down than my usual strong eyeliner colors, almost comparing them with pencils ( but not quite ).

MAC Beauty Powder in Play it Proper

MAC Beauty Powder in Play it Proper
is described as a soft pastel pink with sparkles. It’s a really light pink shade, that can be worn as a highlighter on your cheekbones, or be worn on top of your favorite baby pink blush for that added highlight and satiny texture on your skin. I like this!

MAC Stylishly Yours Lipsticks in Style Curve and Cockney

MAC Lipstick in Style Curve

MAC Style Curve on my lips

Move over, Violetta. Yes, I’m serious! Style Curve might look a tad bit too daunting and shocking on the tube ( I was scared of it, at first, I admit ), but upon swatching it, the shocking violet diluted into a juicy, violet-pink shade of lipstick, that is totally wearable! My sister even saw me swatching it and exclaimed, “how nice!” when it reached my lips. This is a must-try!

MAC Lipstick in Cockney

stylishly_15

MAC Cockney lipstick on my lips

MAC Cockney Lipstick is described as a sheer, yellow red with multidimensional pearl. This red, I must say, is not the super pigmented reds. It’s a juicy red lipstick that would entail alot of layering to get a solid color on your lips. But it’s definitely good for casual days as it is not too “out there”. It’s a diluted red.

MAC Cream Colour Base in Tickle Me Pink on my lips

Last but not the least, I have a cream colour base. It’s a product that can be used for eyes, cheeks, and lips, in cream form in a pan. The collection’s cream colour base shades on the other hand, are not eye safe, only cheek and lip safe. I’ve got Tickle Me Pink over here, a poppy creamy bright pink that is very reminiscent of my Pink Friday lipstick, but with the texture like my amplified lipstick shades. I found it a bit hard to cover my natural lip color using this, and having chapped lips is really a challenge in applying this product. Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate to get smoother lips Sophie! Ahh!!

swatches galore on my arm

Well, I definitely find the colors in this collection bright and happy! I’d love to be more adventurous, I am really pushing myself to do so! How about you, are you a conservative girl in terms of makeup, or a more adventurous one?

I’d love to hear from you!
