Just seeing Mega Magazine’s August cover makes me smile. The four girls, namely Celine Lopez, Apples Aberin, Patty Betita, and Rissa Mananquil were hailed as Fashion’s Finest, and Beauty’s Best by Pond’s, and now grace the cover of Mega Magazine, that was shot on location at the Pond’s Institute in Shanghai, China.
What makes me smile more, are these lovely ladies wearing the red dresses from Plains and Prints, that I’ve purchased last month. Last month, Pond’s and Plains and Prints have tied up to bring you a collection of beautiful, and ultra-feminine white and red dresses that syncs with Pond’s Age Miracle Line. I myself got in a buying frenzy, and got myself the Apples dress ( as worn by Patty Petita in the Mega Cover ), the Rissa dress ( that was worn by Rissa as well – thanks Jheng, for being on the lookout and getting this for me! ) and not in the cover, I also got myself a Divine dress, and I could really say that the three dresses I bought are such investment pieces. Yes, for the Filipino-Chinese, reds are definitely keepers, as they’re the default color-to-wear for birthdays, as red means good luck, and signifies power and prosperity. Yes, red is a lucky color, and I’m going to keep myself lucky this year and beyond! Haha! I might be wearing them by next year, but with the designs being timeless, I really don’t mind.

On another note, Pond‘s launched one really unique, and intruiging product called Pure White, that is ironically packaged in black! The black packaging reminds me of the really lovely Black Hello Kitty that I purchased ( and pleaded stocks for ) in Singapore last year for the MAC Hello Kitty Collection. Banking on the purifying qualities of activated carbon,
It is first of its kind to be formulated with activated carbon, which works with “black attracts black.” Carbon, when heated or “activated,” becomes 8x porous; hence, increasing its ability to detoxify and gently exfoliate dead skin cells while retaining the needed moisture.
Hmm. Interesting. Black. A skin care product that’s black. It’s rare that I see products like these, but the only product I remember being black is the Kose Sekkisei Black Beauty Masque ( also called Mask White ) , which is notorious for being really effective, adhereing to the skin, and really pulling out stubborn dirt, and whiteheads from the pores once it is peeled off when dried. I mentioned this to Jacqe Yuengtian, brand manager of Pond’s, and she says that the technology of Pond’s Pure White is from Japan as well.
With that, I am about to get myself a tube of Pond’s Pure White to see the results for myself. My beauty blogging sister Phoebe has already tried it, check out her initial review here. Ahh! I want it to be weekend already so I can get one!
Tata for now!

I love your blog but I’d have to disagree. I was super turned off with Mega’s choice of cover story. If that Plains and Print + Pond’s feature is an advertorial I hope they got paid a lot. They didn’t only sell their cover story (big no-no for magazines!) they sold their editorial integrity as well. However, if they weren’t paid for that (I highly doubt it! The whole editorial, both story and spread, reads like a brochure/marketing collat!) then chaka lang talaga sila! It’s all so tacky and tasteless. I don’t mean P&P per se, I like P&P!
What would the sartorialist say now? http://www.mega-magazine.com/theradar/tag/sartorialist/
They need better people in that magazine!!!! I stopped buying mega when Carla Sibal jumped ship.
Hi Louie,
I do respect your opinion, but I also put my personal opinion in my blogpost as I personally love the dresses and the campaign. That’s about it.
