For the past few months, it’s just been illegally warm. I still remember from my twenty something years in life, it’s never been this warm. The rays of the sun seem to be neverending, even at 4pm – I still get that glare.

With that, I’ve adapted a new daily routine that I never did before :

* deliriously apply sunblock on my face, neck, and hands to start the day
* wear shades whenever I’m in the car because the sun just shines too brightly!
* turn on the AC at full blast, whenever I may be – in the office, in the car, or in my room.

Don’t get me wrong, the sun, and heat is not only causing us wrinkles, and that potential sun burn, the heat nowadays is causing us so much discomfort, higher blood pressures, dizziness, and really bad headaches. ( No to heat waveee!!! ) I can only call a glass of ice cold water my saving grace, keeping me hydrated, and cool all day.

What makes me more uncomfortable, is basking under the sun and feeling horrible. Okay, the perfect setting for that perfect summer is definitely on the beach, as you get a sense of serenity and relaxation, but those stuck in the city just need to keep their minds clear and positive as they beat the heat. The heat risks us from being “amoy araw.” “Amoy araw” is a Filipino term that literally means “smelling like the sun,” but it is more correct to interpret it as someone who perspires, and as his perspiration dries up on his skin, there is some smell that lingers on him – that isn’t good at all. Of course, right now, my elegant-smelling fragrances are shelved, to make way for summer scents that are light and wonderful, that they surely would beat the summer heat!
