Our feet must be the most abused part of our body. We walk, walk, and walk, as our feet carries our weight all day long, and even risks tripping, getting sprained, and even have foot damage when we wear our shoes.

Footwear wise, there are some pretty shoes, that are just plain to-die-for. When you look at those lovely flats, you feel that you’re that preppy urban girl as you imagine yourself gliding with them at the mall, or in school. When you see those really killer high heels – you imagine your legs all elongated, all shapely, making your destination a catwalk, for you to strut on. Yes, I’m obsessed with shoes, but then, I also get hurt in the process.

I get myself pretty flats, and what happens is that , no matter how initially comfortable my pairs are ( at first try ) , they need a break-in period, and sometimes, the break-in period just never ends, leaving the back of my heel in blister-fest, with me in so much pain.

High heels just scream sexy, and I love exuding that vibe time after time, but then, my heels get so tired within an hour, making me score a bad C on walking, losing the grace and the initial confident feel.

I’m just so sure that you’d tell me to invest on better shoes and do more research. But with them already having a new home ( which is my shoe closet ), what am I supposed to do? Just give them up, ignore them, and resign to the fact that I’ve wasted my money? I don’t want to give up! I need these gorgeous shoes to work for me!

Thank God for these awesome heel savers that I’ve chanced upon, that I am given a shot to shoe salvation!

Burlington , a local brand, has come up with heel products that can help us get more comfortable with our shoes. One of their products include the Biofresh Heel Cushion. Well, as it is called, it is to be placed on your heel as you wear high heeled shoes, so that your heels won’t hurt as you spend the day wearing those killer heels. Yes, I felt these are very comfortable, and highly alleviate my feet’s sloping position as I wear heels, but this is not for those sexy slingbacks and sandals. This is more for closed shoes because the heel cushion would be visible. This is also a bit wide, so it may not fit some kinds of shoes.

Another one’s something that I got from a store that sells more of household/hardware stuff, so this one’s a surprising find. Fashion Emergency Gel Heel Liners are to be put at the back of closed, high-heeled shoes. The gel heel liners prevent the feet from slipping down ( ouch to the toes when that happens! ), prevents blisters at the back of the heels from forming due to friction, and for loose shoes, this makes it all snug and soft. This is actually great, and I have two of these already, and the only thing that I’d like to point out is that the shoes should be a bit loose when you want to put these in there. The gel heel liners take up some space, and if the shoes are a bit small already, these wouldn’t work.

My new favorite though, is Scholl’s Heel Leather Liners. Believe me- the leather is just so soft, that can really really make the blister-prone shoe wearable! It’s a bit straining on the pocket though – around P 220+ for each pair – you stick them at the back of closed shoes – may they be heels or flats, then, voila! No more blisters at the back of your heels. I bought two pairs of these to put on my stubborn flats, and I just might say that they’re very much worth the price – for a pair of shoes costing more than a thousand and causing you so much pain, it wouldn’t hurt to spend around 200 pesos to make it more comfortable! The only thing that poses a problem is that this would be great for shoes that are a bit too loose, because they take up space, and for those already fit on you, this just might make it a bit tight.

my shoes are saved!

These are only a few of the many, many heel savers in the market today. I’d like to explore more, but of course I would love it more if the shoes would work and be comfortable without then! But as not all shoes are perfectly fit as everyone has different feet- wide, narrow, and not in the standard sizes, these are quite helpful already and brings us closer to comfort!
