Yesterday was just fabulous. Me and mom had a major bonding day at the Tony & Jackey Salon. Yes, that’s the way girls bond! We are both overworked since last year that we sort of neglected our salon visits, and I’m just so happy, that finally, we had a day set aside for us to have our hair pampered again! Thank God that Tony & Jackey, the Korean salon that I so love, already has a branch in NS Amoranto which is near our home, we don’t have to travel elsewhere to get great hair pampering!
Now, for the hair treatments, Im revealing mine first.
Having exposed to Clobex, my anti-allergy scalp shampoo, my hair was stripped off color, revealing my premature gray hair ( yes, I got it from my dad ). I was opting for a hair rebonding treatment with hair manicure ( to cover my gray ), but the stylist assigned to me felt that my hair was very dry, so she recommended their latest service called Hair Blessing Rebonding. Now, what is Hair Blessing?
Checking out their posters, and having to hear what it was all about, with Hair Blessing, organic products are used, with active ingredients propolis ( from the bee ) and castor oil, claimed to be produced by Tony & Jackey exclusively. There are three types of Hair Blessing Treatments – Hair Blessing Rebonding ( yes, you get to have your hair rebonded without the harsh chemicals, AT ALL! ), Hair Blessing Perm ( yes, much milder than the digital perm minus the chemicals ), and Hair Blessing Clinic – some sort of a progressive hot oil treatment that revives, alleviates and reconditions chemically treated, dry, damaged, and brittle hair.
Before, Tony & Jackey Salon only offers two types of products to be used – the most affordable one using Korean products versus using the more expensive service which entails using L’Oreal products which were said to be milder than the Korean products. Now, they’re adding another something milder, and less damaging to the hair – Hair Blessing, but it definitely is more expensive!
Checking the above pricelist, Hair Blessing Rebonding, Hair Blessing Setting Perm, and Hair Blessing Digital Perm costs 6,000 pesos for short hair, 7,000 pesos for medium length, and 8,000 pesos for long hair with a free follow-up Hair Blessing Clinic ( an intensive hair reconditioning treatment ) the following week, that costs 2,000 pesos when availed separately.
Ok, going back to my story, I was recommended to have the Hair Blessing Rebonding due to my dry and damaged hair. But then, 7,000 pesos was a bit too steep for me. I was prepared to undergo the L’Oreal Extenso Rebonding Treatment that costs 5,000 pesos that already included hair rebonding, hair manicure ( sort of a hair treatment that makes hair glossy ), and hair treatment already. Last time, my stylist over at the old T&J branch mixed some hair color with the hair manicure to color some of my gray hair, so 5,000 pesos was well spent. With 7,000 pesos , and needing to shell out another 3,000 pesos for coloring my hair, I was a bit unprepared for that major splurge, so I really had to think hard. It’s been 6 months since my hair was rebonded, and my hair’s still not too wavy. I had to prioritize, and said pass to the very tempting organic Hair Blessing rebonding treatment, to just having my hair colored, and a Hair Blessing Clinic treatment to somehow revive my dry hair. I thought it was okay, since I’m a bit hesitant about having my hair rebonded anyway, wondering if it could still take in chemicals.
Fast forward, with my hair coloring done ( using L’oreal Majilift ) , it was time to have my Hair Blessing Clinic Treatment. I see my stylist pumping product out of a green-looking bottle with Korean characters. This must be the Castor Olein product that had propolis ( from the bees ) and castor oil ( derived from the castor bean ) in it. As my hair was steamed with it for around 20 minutes, I was thinking, this might be their organic version of an intensive hot oil treatment. I don’t usually believe in the results of hot oil treatments, since I’ve long learned on how to do my own hot oil treatment at home with the availability of hair masques and intensive hair conditioners available at beauty shops, so it would really be hard for me to be impressed with this.
So, verdict about my Hair Blessing Clinic treatment? I honestly feel that my hair has been restored with health. It’s not as dry and brittle anymore, and my hair does not feel horribly dehydrated. I see it in my hair condition – it looks softer, I feel it when I touch my hair – it’s definitely better. Would I go back to T&J just for that treatment? Honestly, no, for the reason that I think it’s just a hot oil treatment, but I am definitely going to save up for their Hair Blessing Rebonding or Digital Perm come June, and I get the Hair Blessing Clinic treatment free with that! Yes, I need to hit the beach first, I don’t want to risk the sun damaging my precious treatment! Haha!
Okay, a maaajor fast forward. I just failed to mention, how amazing Tony and Jackey stylists are with cutting hair. I love my new cut! They’re having a promo now, for all hair cuts discounted from 500 pesos to 300 pesos only. Such professional and good cut for a good price already! I love my new hair!
I will definitely be going back for my Hair Blessing Rebonding Treatment to see if it lives up to its hype. I’m just so darn curious! But then, I trust T&J for my past rebonding experiences from there were actually good. So, on to a great hair life!
