Lillyyyyyyyyy Pulitzerrrr!!!!!!! Goodness gracious. I’ve been a huge fan of Lilly Pulitzer’s audacious take in fashion – audacious not in the sense of being punk or wildly different, but her take on colors – being able to use bright colors ( my favorite combo, pink and green ) in a very classy, and elegant way. You can read about her life here.
Anyway, I screamed in delight as MAC Cosmetics released this collection, as I just love the colors of Lilly Pulitzer. I just had to see what was in store! I have three pieces in the collection, and here’s my take on them :
In my book, the Pearlmatte Eyeshadow Trio must be the most beautiful spring color combo that I’ve ever seen. It just looks so pretty right? The texture is yes, pearly, but matte at the same time – very subdued. I was expecting bright, screaming, pigmented shades, but the Pearlmatte Eyeshadow trio turned out to be a very subdued and feminine.
The Pearlmatte Eyeshadow Trio would be perfect for those not fond of loud colors – it would appear a faint wash of color on your eyes, that even if you use the three colors together ( pink, green, and white ), they still look very faint and subdued. Perfect for the shy girls who want to use cute colors like that.
The MAC Cremeblend Blush in Florida is a gorgeous, bright Fuschia shade. The texture is very light, and it goes on sheer on your cheeks. Swatching it at my pulse area, you can see how sheer the texture is, but still giving the skin some tint. Pinks roared last year, and I bet that it would still be like that this year – since its matching color green, is the lucky color for this year! ( Now, where did that come from? Haha! ) Oh, forget it, I’m just totally in love with pink!
Last but not the least, I have their Lip Gelee in Shift to Pink. Shift to Pink is well, not pink, but is a light violet with silver pearl. I also love violet shades as it makes pinks look a bit purplish, and last year, Viva Glam’s purple-pink lipstick totally captured my heart with its beautiful purple-pink shade. Blending purple or okay, violet, with pinks really have a beautiful effect, so this is a must-try. Texture is like a sticky lip gloss, with violet and semi-fine silver shimmer. This will totally make your lips pop or be the center of attention once you add this to your normal lipstick.
Anyway, there are more stuff in the MAC in Lillyland Collection, like the Pearlmatte Face Powder, technakohl liners, paint pots ( that are not so new, anyway ), nail lacquers and their brushes, but I think the noteworthy stuff to check out are the Cremeblend blushes and the Pearlmatte powders which are fairly new. I just hoped that they had a bright pink lipstick for this collection ( one, or two slimshines! haha! ) I really hope I can see more bright pinks in the future collections!
