The best of natural goodness! I just love drinking Minute Maid and sinking my teeth in one of those small pulps. Haha! They also have the delicious Mango Orange variant, a great combination.

Also, I don’t understand the question: “What is your favorite make-up trick? Any natural ways you can achieve it?”

    Please explain. Haha. Thanks Sophie!

I learned a lot Make-up Tricks from my Mom. First of all, she told me that “Less is More”. Natural look is best. One of my fave tricks she taught me was on how to keep eyeliner lasting all day. :D

First, apply waterproof mascara along the top lashes with a eyeliner brush. Then apply a sharp line for a liquid eyeliner look.

If I wanted a softer look, I took a darker eye shadow and blend into the mascara after it has dried. I blend it upwards for a smudged, smoky effect. :D

Hi Sophie! I am joining your contest via comment entry
What is your favorite make-up trick? Any natural ways you can achieve it?

I am so into glowing make-up these past few weeks and I love the glowing effect look. You can achieve it by highlighting key areas of the face that the light hit first like brow bone, bridge of the nose, cheekbones, chin, forehead so after applying foundation I apply highlighter to these areas and blend it. For instant glow, try applying lip and cheek tint in your cheeks then top it of with white highlighter shade for a pearly effect, the highlighter will tone down the brightness of the cheek tint and at the same time make it appear long lasting…applying highlighter in your brow bone makes your eyes bigger, in the bridge of the nose makes it appear ‘higher’ or (matangos in Filipino) and overall brighter! By applying this make-up trick it will surely add ‘ganda’ points for you ;)

  7. (December 31st, 2009 at 4:31 pm)

the most natural way I can achieve a no-make up look is to cleanse, tone and moisturize my face regularly, apply lip balm, top it with lip tint and apply tint to my cheeks. if i have more time, i’ll curl my lashes to brighten up my Asian eyes and apply 2 coats of brown mascara. i can go out in this look without any other make up on. perfect for those on-the-go-must-chase-2-year-old-daughter days!

Hi Sophie! Im joining via comment entry

I am a self-confessed reformed makeup addict, and i admit that natural makeup oftentimes before DOES NOT exist for me. I used to pile on the foundation, BB cream, concealer, and wear gel liners and falsies, blush, lipbalm+lipstick+gloss and topped with finishing powder. However, after a bout of skincare problems like clogged pores, zits, and overall un-healthiness of my skin, i did sit back and think about how i should really look. I am only 23 and often times, I am mistaken for the Atsi(older sister) of my Atsi who is by the way 29 years old but looks way younger than me because of my bodyframe and approach to fashion and beauty. It’s kinda funny yet at the same time painful for me. I hate to think that when i reach my late 20s, people might start thinking that I am my Atchi’s aunt. *Shudders*

I did evaluate and i came up that i use too much too many makeup items at time, and yet i skimp on the things i SHOULD have included like moisturizer and sunblock and eyecreams. I skimped using proper makeup cleansers and that only aggravated the skin problems i am using. From then on,i vowed that i will try the minimalistic/natural look.

So here are my tricks to achieve the natural look:
    1. Moisturizer and Sunscreen- I use L’oreal UV perfect. Use a brand that is compatible to your skintype
    2. Use mineral makeup/ hypoallergenic makeup SPARINGLY- Most of the people who use makeup make mistakes like piling on too much which results to cakiness and unsightly effects. Bozo the clown anyone? Comeback of the geisha era? For me, the key products to a natural look are:
foundation/powder(to cover ruddiness and reduce shine), concealer(for key areas only), blush/cheektint(peachy pink is nice, sometimes too pink or too red ones make you look like you received twin slaps) , lipgloss or balm, groom your brows and curl your lashes. I totally recommend Majorica Majorca lash expander mascara which really works for me, fannning out my lashes and extending it to such lengths that my chinita eyes are really emphasized in a very natural way. Lastly, always SMILE and flash your pearly whites. It will IMMEDIATELY make you look younger and friendlier. I learned this tip with a little baking soda can really help your pearly whites, it is natural and really works, what’s better, it is quite cheap. =)
Also remember, a little imperfection actually makes us prettier and more natural. You don’t expect to and are not expected to look airbrushed everyday
    3. It is always better to look younger and natural than older and trying hard. Remember that the cosmetic industry earns millions by producing laboratory-tested anti-aging products. By the time you need anti-aging products, think of the time you spent trying to age-ify yourself with makeup.
    4. Use proper skincare products- oils, cleansers, toner, creams, and moisturizers. Look for ingredients that are helpful/gentle to skin like green tea, etc.As Barbie Chan said ” No amount of makeup will cover bad skin”.

Well, that’s it. I thought I was writing a short paragraph and it tuned out to be an essay. =) I hope I was able to help someone with my tips.

  9. Crissy:
    (January 2nd, 2010 at 12:15 pm)

My favorite make-up trick is to achieve a naturally dewy complexion. This may not be conventional, but I believe that it works for me, and it’s better to naturally let my skin do its own thing rather than trying to go against it.

Before I put on any makeup, I do have a “maintenance” regimen. I do this by taking vitamins (if not multivitamins, at least Vitamin C and E, which are antioxidants – fight free radicals on your skin that cause aging), and applying sunblock, eye cream and water-based oil-free moisturizer religiously. Apart from that, proper rest makes a total difference.

This is where the natural makeup trick comes in. I use mineral makeup because it’s much more natural than traditional makeup, and I have found a great skintone match. My frustration with traditional makeup is finding a great shade, and it either looks to thick, too thin or too dewy for my liking. After applying the mineral makeup, lightly mist your face with a facial spray. Let it set for a few seconds and get a duo fiber brush to buff it and give a airbrush-like finish. Apply a very light dusting of oil control powder, to set. Since I do have combination to oily skin, my face will naturally oil up over time. Eventually, the oil in my face and mineral makeup will make my face naturally dewy. Instead of applying another dusting of powder, I just lightly blot with oil blotting sheets. I get the naturally dewy glow, without the need to add any shimmer or highlighter.

I’d like to think that this works for me, as I noticed that more people compliment my makeup whenever I do this technique more than using traditional makeup.

  11. (January 5th, 2010 at 1:26 am)

Way before the days I actually learned how to properly apply makeup, my only trick in looking fresh was to sleep a good eight hours. No kidding. I’m sure you guys would agree with me when I say that this is probably the best technique in achieving a healthy, glowing skin.

Of course, there are other things one can do, like eat veggies, stop smoking (guilty as charged) and take vitamins but for someone who hates veggies, smokes and too lazy to take vitamins, sleeping is the only way to go.

After four days of no-work days, with me having plenty of time to sleep, I woke up to find myself in no need of much makeup for the first day of work in 2010.

Wow, very good tips! Kinda intimidating, actually.

I have read somewhere that good make-up starts with good skin. Actually, I wasn’t really a big fan of make-up until I had my own family. I just apply powder, blush and gloss and I’m ready to go. Yes, less is indeed more.

So I’ll just share my tip for having a good skin. See, I’ve had really bad skin before (think ACNE). I’ve tried creams, soaps, etc. and none work. Until my sister introduced me to kojic acid soap. Believe me, it works like wonders! My complexion became whiter and clearer. The pimples were instantly erased as well as the scars they left behind. Now, I don’t have to pile up on foundation. A small dab already works so I get to save on make-up but still achieve that fresh, head-turning look. Seriously!

I believe less is more so to achieve that fresh and natural look, I often put a foundation that is almost unnoticeable and a very light blush on. I also love that smokey eyes effect especially when I lack sleep and of course I put lots of concealer.

    Hi Sophie,

I’m joining the contest via comment entry :)

Make-up alone cannot hide skin imperfections. That’s why you need good skin to start with.

“Cleanse, Tone, Moisturize” —– You always hear that these steps are what you need to achieve beautiful skin. You also need to be careful on the products that you will use since most commercially available products contain harsh chemicals which will not do good on our skin.

“Freshen up, Cleanse, Tone, Moisturize” —- This is my improved version of the widely known 3-step skincare regimen. (Freshen Up) This is especially good during the cold months since my skin tends to dry even with moisturizer. Before taking a bath, I apply organic facial oil to my skin (I use grapeseed extract). Take note of the word organic, therefore making use of naturally available ingredients minus the harsh chemicals. (Cleanse, Tone, Moisturize) After a few minutes (around 3 minutes for me), the oil will be absorbed by your skin so you’re ready to do the 3 steps. Again, I specifically use organic products (please take note of this). You might be wondering what the 1st step is for if you’re going to wash your face anyway. The oil will get absorbed by your skin that’s why we had to leave it there for a few minutes. This makes your face fresh and ready for our normal routine.

In doing this, you will notice that your face feels so much better. Mineral make-up (yes please use MMU since it’s made of natural ingredients) glides better in our skin. You will surely get that blooming, flawless, natural look. Goodluck ladies! =)

    Simple:

    1. foundation
    2. blush-on
    3. eye liner
    4. lipgloss
    5. Done

  19. apple:
    (January 5th, 2010 at 1:45 pm)

    Being simple is better.

First put a concealer on the face and not too thick concealer.
Just put a pink blush-on on both cheeks.
Put a lip gloss or a light lipstick.
Then a mascara or a eye liner. Not too thick because you will look like an emo-kid, just like what I said simple is better.

  20. jen:
    (January 5th, 2010 at 1:45 pm)

Putting eyeliner always because it looks good with everyone, eyeliner emphasizes our eyes that it can even make your eyes bigger or smaller. A light blush-on too and eye shadows that will match your other make ups or your get ups.

  21. bevs:
    (January 5th, 2010 at 1:46 pm)

    Before putting make ups
    - You should check the make ups, the labels and try it first because the make-ups or other brands may give you allergy.
    - Wash your face in a clean water
    - Put the make ups carefully

  22. chit:
    (January 5th, 2010 at 1:47 pm)

First you have to take care of your face, wash your face daily before putting make ups and clean your brush and sponge. When putting make-ups you should balance the make up and monitor it carefully when putting it in your face.

  23. Shiela:
    (January 5th, 2010 at 1:54 pm)

Sometimes putting lipgloss and blush on is enough. Do not abuse your face.
Do not torture your face just to look good.
do not put everything just to be in.

  24. abby:
    (January 5th, 2010 at 2:36 pm)

Light colors are healthy to look. Light colors can brighten up your eye or face. Choose a right color of lipstick or lip gloss. And match the color of your eye shadows properly.

  25. gail:
    (January 5th, 2010 at 2:37 pm)

Do not buy make-ups in tiangge , you’ll get allergy.
Love your face, spending money is worth it.
Do not put a lot of make-ups, let your skin breathe.

  26. Mary:

highlighting is the best make up trick ever, it makes one look fresh and natural. it’s like having a fluorescent radiant skin that korean beauties have. less is more, in order to achieve this glowy skin, right diet plus a lot of sunscreen should do the trick :)

  28. Lizz:
    (January 5th, 2010 at 4:07 pm)

I love using pearly highlighters, and one way to achieve this look naturally is to simply use a dab of vaseline! You can apply it on your eyelids with your pinky, on the bridge of your nose, and on your lips. It’s a perfect technique to use when you’re doing a “no makeup” day and are skipping your regular moisturizer.

  29. Jenn:
    (January 5th, 2010 at 7:09 pm)

My favorite makeup trick is tightlining. It makes my super short lashes look fuller instantly.

Best tip? Let your skin rest!

  30. (January 5th, 2010 at 10:25 pm)

Naturally kissable lips- Use your toothbrush and lightly scrub your lips to slough off the dry skin. It will give you rosy and plump lips!

  31. (January 5th, 2010 at 11:47 pm)

A healthy fresh look never goes out of style. To exude radiance, I always go about my day with perfectly curled eyelashes, a hint of blush and of course my staple vibrant red lipstick. This look is a no-brainer, everyone can achieve it, however you can never fake the kind of radiance only a pampered skin can boast of. I maintain mine by making sure I get all the sleep and the vitamin C I need everyday. So in case I would not have the time for getting myself dolled up, I have my natural, radiant healthy skin to back me up.

  32. karlenma:
    (January 6th, 2010 at 11:30 am)

    spritz! spritz! spritz!

spritzing has saved me from overdone or cakey makeup several times. even plain tap water on a spritzer bottle works. this gives me the natural, dewy look everytime. plus it makes mineral makeup stay longer on my oily skin. :)

  33. Geli:

Good luck to everyone who’s joining :D

…but I’ll join the comment contest since i’m here already :D

    My favorite make-up trick:

before applying mascara, dab the excess (the excess are the mascara products stuck to the bristles not the ones on the base of the brush as that is the one that’ll coat the eyelashes) off on a firm tissue paper to avoid smudging it on the skin (and ruining finished eye make up) when the bristles accidentally touch the eyelids. :D

Make up enhances one’s beauty. In my case, whenever I apply simple make up on, I always focus on what I think is the beautiful asset on my face. For me, looking beautiful is enhancing what is already beautiful. Also, you have to invest on good quality make up that suit your skin type. *wink*

[...] Here’s my entry to Beautynomics’ Minute Maid Contest: [...]

  37. Dianne:
    (January 8th, 2010 at 5:42 pm)

Since I apply make-up everyday for work, I always make it a point that my ‘no-makeup’ makeup look is perfect.

After washing my face, I roll an ice cube on my face to tighten my skin and prevent my powder from getting to my pores. This makes my cheeks look flushed and fresh in an instant! Then I apply my Vitamin C toner and moisturizer/sunblock to aid in the clarity of my skin.

I use a big brush and lightly dust on foundation that’s the same shade as my skin. After setting it in for a minute, I use another foundation (in a shade darker than the first one) and lightly dust it on the skin below my cheekbones. I also outline my face using the same powder to highlight my face shape. (I discovered that this looks more natural than using a dark bronzer, which looks OTT on a daily basis.)

After this, I get a blush powder and apply blush on the apples of my cheeks, the bridge of my nose, my chin and the middle of my forehead. A blush that has some shimmers on it also does double duty as highlighter, so I hit two birds with one stone!

I use brown eyeliner to define my peepers, then use a black one and line the skin near my upper eyelashes to make it look wider.

A slick of Blistex tinted completes the look.

It takes about 15 minutes to finish everything, and I think it’s worth it because people think I’ve slept the whole night even if I didn’t! *wink wink*

  39. (January 10th, 2010 at 7:07 pm)

“What is your favorite make-up trick? Any natural ways you can achieve it?”

The most natural way to expoliate and keep your face moisturized, and make-up perfect–muscovado sugar + virgin coconut oil.

Before applying make-up, wash your face first with your favorite facial wash. Rinse. Apply an ample amount of VCO to wet skin, and scrub muscovado sugar liberally. Rinse. Pat dry your face.

    You’re now set for make-up. :)

  40. (January 10th, 2010 at 9:41 pm)

My favorite make-up trick is ICE! Yes, ice as in straight from the freezer. It’s chemical free, no alcohol no anything, all natural, frozen water.

Applying ice all over your face makes your skin glow. It also helps make the pores tighter and smaller which makes applying make-up much easier.

All you have to do is before applying make-up wash your face with your regular facial wash then rub the ice all over your face for 5 minutes or as long as you want and can! Then pat dry.

I want to share three of my favorite makeup tricks.

*Apply foundation before putting an eyeliner to prevent it from spreading when you sweat or when you cry.

*Pat a pale pink concealer under you eyes, then apply a natural-toned concealer. Use patting motions with your finger to blend well and lastly top it with loose powder to cover your dark under eye circles.

*Lip gloss first before lipstick then lip gloss again to maintain lip color.

To achieve these three naturally, just eat nutritious meals, keep hydrated with water and fruit juices, get enough sleep, exercise and take vitamins. By doing these, you will prevent having eye bags and will have naturally looking pink lips.

    1. PJ on my brows, to groom and shape

    3. PJ on my lips for gloss

“What is your favorite make-up trick? Any natural ways you can achieve it?”

My favorite make up trick is putting a bit of highlighting/shimmer powder on my loose/setting powder, it makes me look like I’m glowing, and that I lead a healthy lifestyle (like exercising regularly, eating healthy, etc) If you’re not into shimmer powders, the best way to achieve this is to spray evian all over your face after applying your finishing powder.

“What is your favorite make-up trick? Any natural ways you can achieve it?” – so far my definition of makeup is anything you put on your face because i still don’t have time to really learn how to put makeup (the makeup w/c consists of mascara, eyeliner, blush, etc) on my face i guess it is one of my new year’s resolution.. ;)

to answer the question, my current fave is to use a tinted moisturizer of Nu Skin w/c acts as my foundation/moisturizer in one.. i only use my fingers to blend it to my face but i might practice to use a foundation brush for hygiene.. it gives me a smooth, light and more even skin tone that looks so au naturale…;)

to make my eyes look brighter i like to do the ff:
    - use blue liner on upper lashline instead of black, as blue can make d whites of ur eyes look white
    - use white liner on the lower lid to make ur eyes pop

The make-up tricks I know, I got from reading beauty articles. My favorite is highlighting the cheekbones with shimmer. They say it instantly lifts the face. No shimmer? Use lip balm or petroleum jelly to draw a curve from the end of the brows to the tops of the cheekbones. Do this after applying foundation and/or powder.

Also, consider using organic make-up or make-up made with natural ingredients. Plus points if they support causes.

    * tired looking eyes?… apply white or peachy toned liner on your lower water line… highlight the inner corners of your eye… curl your lashes… mascarra on top and bottom lashes.

    * use extra virgin olive oil to remove your make-up

my favorite makeup trick is to use using a white eyeliner and highlighter on the tear duct to brighten my eyes. I also love using a yellow/gold toned eyeshadow and blush since it enhances our asian skintone. Will give us a FRESH look instantly!

    Here are my beauty tips
for eyebags – soak tea bags in cool water and place it on your tired eyes for 15 minutes.

to tighten those cheeks and give it a special glow – Whip up and egg white until it forms a foamy consistency. Dab it on on cheeks and forehead. Leave it on for 15-30 minutes. Rinse it off with lukewarm water and you’ll feel its effect immediately.

for great lips – use two complimentary shades. Use the darker shade to highlight the edges (use it as a lipliner). Next use the lighter lip shade to accentuate your lips

There are really just those days that no matter how long I rest, stress is still written all over my face. On such days, I thank God for Make Up and all Natural Methods!

    In the morning…

To look fresh is to look awake-so I try to get rid of eye puffiness as naturally as possible, I do this by putting 2 metal spoons for 5 minutes in the freezer, then take each out and put it on my eyes.

On hectic days, when I’m on the go, I wash my face in super cold water and use a cream moisturizing facial wash…the coldness stimulates nerves on my face and the cream makes me look healthy.

    Make Up wise,

To exude Vibrance I make sure I have that natural charming glow, I do this by applying my foundation evenly(Mineral because I want to be kind to my skin.) and making sure I highlight my face using a bit of bronzer.

On my eyes, I use shimmer colors…not loud colors though so my face won’t look heavy. Curling my eyelashes make me look awake and so much better.

On my cheeks, I use peach colors and on my lips I use either matte skin colors or pinks then finish it of with gloss-for that kissable effect.

A lot i guess but the best for me is SMILING and BEING POSITIVE, It’s the best trick to look naturally fresh and inviting…plus it’s healthy and free!

p.s. I also tried a fruit diet and It made my skin glow…also a tuna diet…so eating healthy is always a good way to go!

Thank you for reading…I’ll post pics too soon hehe
    *fingers crossed* :P

Being a girl isn’t that easy. Every now and then, appearing to be attractive can be very tough and trying to affect just the right amount plus the exact mixture of blushers and eyeshades would take hours on end.

In almost every ways, it all begins with the basics. Skim on these amazingly easy tricks on makeup application that may in fact place Cinderella’s makeover to shame.

Powder application and foundations are some of the great basics of makeup. Apply foundation to balance out skin tone. And for your cheek, put blush on your cheek apples and the most excellent technique to accomplish this is but to smile. Choose for blush-on colors that give the most natural feelings and touch, such as rose-pink tawny, rose or light red. Keep in mind that the fairer your skin is, the lighter the shade of your blusher must be.

my favorite makeup trick is that i apply black eyeliner on my upperlashes’ waterline..its tight lining,it makes the lashes appear fuller, even without lining your lower lash line or upperlashline this gives my peepers an extra something may it be a no makeup look or something more dramatic

In addition making eye bags less visible with concealer, I apply white eyeliner on the lower rims of my eyes to help brighten it. I finish by applying mascara on both my upper AND lower lashes. My eyes instantly look bright and awake! Bye bye tired eyes. :D

To keep my favorite Maybelline marshmallow pink mousse blush (which has already been phased out.. awwww) or any other powder blush from fading, I set it with a dab of pink lipstick right after applying. :D

your face will look fresh and natural with the right skin prep.

i really pay greater attention to my EYEBROWS!!!!if your eyebrows look great it makes the other facial features distinct.

-tidy your brows.find your natural brow shape then just tweeze the growing stray hairs.

-to smoothen skin for makeup apply moisturizer, choose the water based formula.it’s not greasy and won’t clog your pores.

-apply ample amount of foundati0n on your forehead, cheeks and spotty areas.use your ring finger,it has the softest touch, if you run out of sponge.

-sweep the areas with powder down to your neck.

-using your liner, draw the most natural brow shape possible.blend evenly using your angled brow brush.

-SMILE.stroke a light amount of blush on the apple of you cheeks.

    -light lipstick and gloss.

    TAAAADAAAHHH!!!!!oh so meehh:D

    My comment entry:
My make-up idol Barbi Chan once said that the quickest way to open up your eyes is not by applying heaps of mascara — it’s eyeliner! When you’re in a hurry, this really is the fastest and most effective way to define your eyes. Lining your upper lids with liner, staying close to the lashline opens up and brightens your eyes instantly. :)

To maintain healthy skin, you must follow the basic 3 minute skin care, cleansing, toning and moisturizing before applying make-up and at the end of the day, don’t forget to remove your make-up before going to sleep.

My favorite make up trick is the BB cream! It will gave you such a smooth and fresh looking face. It does foundation, conceal, moisturize and even sun block its like all in one. The natural way to a smooth and fresh face is to wash your face in the evening and the F.R.E.S.H

F- Feed your soul (rest and relax)
    R- run (exercise)
E- Vitamin E (will reconstruct your damage cells)
S- Sleep (make sure you have enough sleep)
H- Healthy foods (eat healthy foods)

My fave makeup trick for a fresh look is to widen my monolid eyes. I cut out my own eye tapes using 3M’s Transpore tapes and stick it on my lids starting from the inner third. The result? Fresh and pretty peepers ready for a gorgeous splash of colors!

my best tip is to feed your skin with tomato..
    literally of course!

i an acne-prone. Up until now, i have some zits popping every now & then. I have tried lots of products on the market & nothing works. It will work for a while, but then another zit will pop one after the other.

I tried using tomato on my face & i was surprised that it was able to keep the pesky zits from showing. Im amazed!

Here i am trying to find the perfect product that my money can buy, but i did not have an inkling that something on my fridge can actually help me from my problem. It goes to show that we really should not ignore mother nature for she knows what’s best.

    Now that is real freshness!
    ^_~

One can layer on as much makeup as one can (or as one’s money can buy) but none of such can make one more beautiful than one’s inner peace and confidence that radiates through and unveils itself through one’s sunny smile.
