This is a post 2 days overdue, but hey, my baby sister Juliet exerted some effort, so I’m going to show it off!

Juliet turned one of our rooms here in the house into a Halloween party place last weekend. I wasn’t there to experience it, but my sisters told me that she painted fangs and did her makeup herself. Goodness. Haha! But then, before I left for Boracay, I was able to create a black lip on her, as she stuffed her face with white baby powder. Black lipstick is the sole mattene lipstick from MAC Cosmetics’ Style Black Collection. Pretty, isn’t it? Think of this as her “warm-up” for Halloween. Better luck next year, I hope I can take photos during the actual partay. Haha!

MAC’s Style Black mattene lippie

Just a small tidbit, black lipstick is pretty difficult to apply because just like the classic matte red lip, it needs to be applied evenly. Upon applying, I noticed that some red from the lips were still showing through, so I just layered and layered. Twould help if an initial layer of foundation to neutralize the red on the lips for an easier application.

Now, black can be flat. For some oomph, and some interesting 3-d effect, lipgloss on top of black lippie is very much recommended. Makes it more modern, and sleek!

and the result…

Just prettier, right?

See, MAC Style Black is one stunning collection that focuses on black. But then, black is not just confined in one shade. You can add more dimension to it. Like dark gloss on top of black lipstick gives a stunning 3d effect, and even for eyeshadows – black mixed with other shades such as purple, and adding shimmer or glitters to black definitely makes black pop out really, really beautifully.

Take your pick for a not-so-dull smoky eye!

To sum up, black was never boring. It’s bold, it’s beautiful, and with the right add-ons, such as shimmer, glitter, and gloss, it’s just like any dark color that you’d love to sport any day!
