I’m far from perfect, that’s why I have this beauty blog of mine. I strive to be better, find ways to improve myself, find solutions to my problems, and cures to whatever issues I have.

For the longest time, it’s the flakes falling off my head that’s been bothering me. They itch like hell, and it’s the most uncomfortable feeling in the world. One would think that it’s a simple case of dandruff, and the normal dandruff shampoos like the ever-warring Head and Shoulders, CLEAR, or even Guard can cure it. I’ve tried them all, even Selsun Blue, but the uncomfortable condition just keeps coming back. Sometimes I have them, at lucky days, my scalp seems unbelievably serene. Almost like it never happened. But not for long.

One thing that I have notice is that my flakes worsten when I am highly stressed. My scalp starts itching, provoking me to scratch, as I feel so helpless. I remember years before going to the dermatologist, with her recommending me some shampoo with tar, which had the most unpleasant smell in the world, as well as using my friend’s scalp treatment prescribed by her dermatologist ( Betnovate ) that only relieved the itchiness for a forthnight, but did not cure it still.

My present dermatologist ( whom I havent visited for months, so I’m so overdue! ) is actually quite a miracle worker. Dr. Marledi Dizon does not exactly charge cheap, but her procedures are very non-invasive, and her peels are from PCA Skin, which is a very good brand used for chemical peeling that turned my skin around. Within a year of being with her, my skin had drastically improved from hopeless to almost good! My constant peels using PCA Skin peels slowly improved my skin until it’s in very, very good shape. Well, what about dandruff and my dermatologist? Well, it’s good that I brought this matter up with her!

I asked Dr. Marledi what a good medicine for dandruff is, because mine’s been recurring, and I just can’t seem to find a good cure for it. As the usual patient who feels like her dermatologist is her psychiatrist, I went on and babbled about how my scalp itches severely everytime I’m stressed, she told me that my condition wasn’t dandruff. It was an allergic reaction. It’s how my body reacts to stress. Then, she whipped up a sample of Clobex, and gave it to me to try. Clobex, as she tells me, is cosmetically pleasant - it doesn’t smell like medicine, and it’s mild to the hair. I was instructed to apply this on my scalp and let it soak for about 15 minutes before showering, for 2 times a week.

Upon my first wash, I noticed that my scalp had calmed a bit. The flakes were still there, but significantly lessened. A second wash after two days made my scalp totally flake-free, and itch-free. Amazing. Well, what is Clobex anyway? The curious bunny in me googled it and found out that it had its own website!

Clobex® (clobetasol propionate) is a medicine called a topical corticosteroid, meaning it should only be used on the skin. It is used for short periods of time to reduce the itching, flaking, scaling, redness and inflammation of skin conditions on the body and scalp such as psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis, and other skin problems that respond to corticosteroid treatment (lotion)

If you are troubled by the itching, redness, inflammation and flaking of the skin, Clobex® (clobetasol propionate) could be the treatment that brings you relief. A super-potent topical steroid, Clobex® comes in three convenient forms:

*Clobex® Spray: For powerful, easy-to-use treatment of moderate to severe plaque psoriasis
*Clobex® Shampoo: For easy, effective reduction of itchy and flaky scalp psoriasis >
*Clobex® Lotion: For relief of itching and inflammation related to corticosteroid responsive dermatoses (SRDs), such as eczema and dermatitis

One bottle of Clobex Shampoo is a bit expensive. It’s around PHP 1,800 ( around 60 sgd, nearly 40 usd ) for a bottle, but you don’t need to use it ( or you can’t rather, use it ) everyday, so it would last you for a month, or so. For that calm scalp, I wouldn’t mind splurging for this. It definitely helps me function, and sleep at night!

But then, if you feel that if you have the same symptoms as I do, please consult your dermatologist first if this is the product for you. If it is, then this is quite a miracle product!
