Roughly a year ago, going to makeup school abroad was just a dream – a fun thought that I could go away the next year to give myself a break from being burned out from work, and hone my skills, even more. I just can’t believe that I’m here, this moment, where everything comes to an end. I have actually braved going to Singapore to study Advanced Bridal Makeup, and Airbrush Makeup, and finished it!

Mind you, it wasn’t easy. There were times when I just wanted to give up and thought that I wasn’t good enough. There were also moments when I seriously doubted if I could really do this. There were moments of heartbreak as well. But then, with the support and love of my classmates, and very good friends ( from highschool, and college who happen to be living in Singapore, quite a big group, actually ), I managed to lift myself up, be more determined, and persevere until I was able to improve, and hone my craft pretty well. Evaluating myself right now, I think I’m actually proud of what I’ve accomplished, I learned so much, and my hard work paid off. I’m definitely still a work in progress, but I know I’m going somewhere.

Here are some pictures of our last day in school, wherein we had our practical exams. My eyes were pretty bloodshot that day because I didn’t get enough sleep ( got really jittery ), my hair was horrible ( someone needs a rebonding sesh soon! ) but I’m just so proud of reaching this last leg that I can’t not afford not to post them!

First part of the practical exams was the natural look. We were asked to come up with the most natural look possible. This was timed for 30 minutes. I just finished as the timer buzzed, as I was being obsessive about having that perfect canvass.

My lovely model, Tin, all glowing!

After that, we were given a break of around one hour, so I got to rest and fix my stuff a little. The second part of the practical exams was the sophisticated look. We were asked to come up with a sophisticated look, done freestyle, whatever we want, just like we were in a fashion shoot.

Honestly, I wasn’t thinking, and my hands just worked and worked and led me to this eye makeup, that I was thankful that turned out fine! I was able to finish this look under 45 minutes ( the time allotted ), so I was able to polish Tin’s makeup more.

Me with Tin, all happy!

Special thanks to my classmates, for welcoming me to Singapore, being so nice to me, sharing so much laughs, stories, and most of all, friendship. I shall never forget you. Our friendship encompasses distance, and you are my prized treasure finds this year.

Special thanks to our instructor, Peter Angel, for inspiring us to do our best. Coupled with so much laughs and food for thought, this journey wouldn’t be as fun as it would be.

Special thanks to Adeline, for never giving up on us, and believing in us. You have touched my heart in more ways than one. You are truly a teacher and I will do my best to make you proud of me.

Now that I’m finally done with makeup school, my next journey is home. My family, and friends in Manila await me, as I am excited to continue my journey where I should really be. But I will definitely never forget this part of my life wherein I lived in a foreign country for half a year, and just do what I love to do.

See you in Manila soon, my lovelies!
