True Love Alert : Make Up For Ever Waterproof Eyebrow Corrector

I have a secret to tell you – I’m in love. *insert sheepish smile here*

Absolutely, hopelessly, irrevocably in love. So much that I’ll never get enough of it!

I’m absolutely taken with Make Up For Ever’s Waterproof Eyebrow Corrector. It’s absolutely the best!

I have to admit that I’ll never work my way around with eyebrow pencils. They just don’t work well with my hands. I always have to scrape product from the pencil using my trusty angled eyebrow brush to make it work. Sometimes, brow powders just don’t work on some skin ( like they don’t hold up too well, or fade just too quickly ), so it’s just so difficult to do that. But then, heaven has sent me an angel in the form of Make Up For Ever’s Waterproof Eyebrow Corrector.

Singaporean Beauty Adventures : Pink Parlour

One confusing day ( confusing, in terms of whether it was sunny, or rainy, haha! ), Renee and I were given the chance to check out the services of Pink Parlour, located in Liang Court. Liang Court seems to be a good, quiet place that is full of establishments that have aesthetic services. My last visit there was at the Skinlab Medical Spa, and now, I was able to raid Pink Parlour, an award winning salon that boasts their signature Brazilian Wax and Princess Manicure and Pedicure service!

While still being a chicken, and having not enough courage to go bare down there, I opted for their signature Princess Pedicure. I settled in a comfortable couch, rested my feet on the sink, as their nail technicians started their magic on my toes. Hahaha!

First, I felt very comforting warm water relax my harassed feet. Walking has been my sport in Singapore, and the casualty is definitely my feet. I sighed in relief, as my feet was scrubbed using either sugar scrub or salt scrub ( they do have both ), moisturized, and pampered. After that, it’s pedicure time! With Havaianas as my everyday footwear ( no heels in this walkathon! ), having clean looking feet is a must ( despite the blisters, haha! ) Continue reading

A Crash Course in Color Correcting

…that’s four c’s in my title. I’m so proud ! Haha!

Kidding aside, color correcting is one of the most important things to do while doing makeup. It’s a part of applying the base, and considered as “sub-foundations” already because they are applied under or over foundation to correct problem colors or areas of the skin. Our skin, while being perfect at the time of birth, are always exposed, and harassed by our environment, the stress that we bring onto ourselves, and sometimes, poor diet.

Here’s my new color correcting palette from Make Up For Ever, and I just love it for it is really really handy, and useful. I shall tell you why!

Fragrance of a Lady : Miss Dior Cherie L’Eau

Commercial Break : Lately, I could not post replies to your comments. Trying to fix the problem. Sorry !

One fine Friday, when I decided to get out of my comfortable home, and just shop alone ( oh, how that feels so good! ), as I was leaving CK Tang’s, I heard someone shout my name, “Sophie!”. Turns out, it was Michelle, my classmate from makeup school, who’s known for her elegant eye makeup style, and who works for Dior. She wrapped around a lovely ribbon on my wrist, that has the scent of Dior’s new fragrance, Miss Dior Cherie L’Eau. More than that, she sprayed the fragrance on me and smiled, as she said, “white musk.” White musk. Oh, one of my favorite scents. I find it pleasing to the nose, as it is not unbearingly sweet.

Makeup Is My Passion.

Some of my dear readers might have noticed my lack of updates in this blog, and I am happy to say that we’ll definitely be back to regular programming pretty soon, sooner than you can imagine. In a span of almost half a year in my blissful exile in Singapore, I am almost going home. I am getting melodramatic as of the moment because I have learned to love this beautiful country, and of course, the beautiful people as well.

Getting myself out of the country as a way to cope my quarter life crisis, attending makeup school was a huge step for me, as well as a serious decision to get off work, leave ( though, temporarily ) my family and friends to pursue this passion. I am quite fortunate that I consider this a break of some sort from me getting burned out from work, but a quite productive break as I am given a chance to learn something that I truly love, with all my heart.

Let me share to you a few things that I’ve learned in makeup school

Beautynomics Beauty Lemming : Smashbox Hybrid 2 in 1 Luminizing Primer

Best thing about having classmates in makeup school who are equally, or even more passionate as I am is that I don’t just explore makeup or beauty products on my own – we share information and ideas! We’re like giggling girls going gaga over makeup everytime we see new products!

I remember a few months ago suggesting a great makeup primer, Smashbox Photofinish in Light. Yesterday, my eyes absolutely brightened up with classmate Sherry ( our local resident kikay classmate ) showed me her new baby – it’s the Smashbox Hybrid 2 in 1 Luminizer. It comes in a tube, so you squeeze out product to use.

Summer’s Beauty Must Haves, and A Contest!

lovely Phuket. photo by Adrian Teng

Hello my lovelies! I just got home from my first beach trip this year – Phuket, Thailand! I tell you, summer’s just about the best season of the year, as the endless sunshine fills my heart with so much happiness! But of course, one must stay beautiful and fresh all throughout – and here are my beach must-haves this year!

1. Sunblock
But.of.course. Skin cancer, anyone? Besides tan-phobia ( fear of having darker skin because of the sun ) or not, protecting your skin from the sun is just a must. Key products that I love? Avene Spray-on Sunblock ( that feels like nothing at all ), Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunblock ( that feels oh, so light ), and Colorescience Sunforgettable Brush SPF 30 ( that is excellent for acne prone skin, to be applied on the face. )
