Skinlab Medical Spa must be the Singaporean version of the very well renowned Belo Medical Clinics in Manila – at least, according to my impressions. It has the most advanced machines in the name of skin care, laser removal, dermatology that are non-invasive, but it is definitely more as it has spa treatments!

In other words, it is nirvana for those who are in touch with taking care of themselves.

As I went there for a visit last week in Liang Court, their bigger branch which is located in Clarke Quay ( a smaller branch can be found at Wheelock Place, Orchard Road ). The feel of the place was very “medical” – absolutely quiet, cold, with girls in white medical attire to attend to your needs. I browsed through their brochures and they offered- I2PL Laser Hair Removal, Botox, and their signature facials and massages.

Here’s a partial list of what they’re offering :

I was able to try their Javanese Massage, that started with a steambath. It was my first time to have a steambath, so my vision was challenged with the steam and I found the heat tolerable for 10 minutes ( it usually took about 15 minutes ). The steambath is supposed to get the toxins out of the body by perspiring, and I can definitely say that it was worth the..heat. Haha.

After that, I was asked to shower ( I was very thankful! ), and lie on my back. The one hour massage began. To compare it with my previous spa experience, I could say that this experience was quite interesting as it was done in a medical spa, not just a spa. I was contemplating, if the masseuse over at the spa’s are the same compared to those in medical spa’s – maybe they know more information on how the body works and what every stretch is for? Haha! Definitely yet to be proven.

The massage was quite delightful, and I could only pray that it would last longer. At first, I could not feel any reason to have a massage. But as the masseuse started working on one part of my leg, the rest of my body seemed to ache and feel the need for that ( I’m serious! ). An hour’s worth of massage is definitely worth it as I went home dreamy-eyed and all relaxed. Five stars.
