Last week, I received an email from a good friend from Manila, that she’s coming over Singapore. I wasn’t sure if I would be a fit tour guide for her since I’ve only been here for roughly two weeks, and she flies to Singapore four times every year. Ruby Gan, franchisee of Singaporean shoe brand Schu, did not only show me where the best shopping places are here, but she also brought me along with her at the buying office of Schu here. I would have to say this – oh. my. god.
As I entered the Schu office, I was stunned, and I felt I was dreaming. all the four walls of the room were filled with racks of an endless array of shoes of all styles and colors, and I said to myself, ahh, Ruby has the best job of them all! I was able to observe her pick the styles she believed in and loved, and I must say, the new designs that will come out by second, and third quarter of the year, both in Schu shops and the Chocolate Schu Bar in Rockwell will definitely be promising. I’ve been a Schu buyer ever since, and I have seen the brand progress, in terms of style, and quality. By the end of the buying session, I was able to note 5 designs that I would be getting from Schu as soon as they release those styles. So, I’m telling you, be on the lookout for Schu‘s designs. I’m officially in love!
Okay, so, I’m not really turning this in a fashion blog, yknow, I’m still trying to explore my fashionable side, and I still love black amongst everything, but this post is about the beauty addict in Ruby Gan. Ruby , I confess, is someone that I’d want to be like because as a mom of two, she is still as stunning and beautiful as ever, and her body is just so fit! Also, she is an inspiration as she is a very good businesswoman, gym addict, and a sports lover who loves running. She’s someone who’s clearly passionate about life !
I have noticed the beauty addict streak in Ruby as she asked me to meet her in Watson’s in Takashimaya Mall. As I walked in and found her, I saw her cart full of beauty products! Her must-hoard for this trip? Klorane Shampoo, a dry shampoo that you just need to spray on to keep your hair clean! Aside from the fashion boutique stops we made, we also raided Sephora, and the beauty sections over at the Paragon Plaza and Takashimaya Mall. It’s amazing, to see her face light up in such radiance whenever we’d talk about blush ons, self tanners, eyeshadows, nail polish shades, amongst alot of things!
So, ready to see her travel kit, and shopping loot?

This is Ruby‘s must-have skin care products as she travels. Number one on her list? The Estee Lauder Super Flight Creme, that keeps her face well hydrated despite the drying effects of flying. Must-haves from Shu Uemura are the Phyto Black Lift Anti-Wrinkle Essence for anti-aging, and Depsea Moisture Replenishing Emulsion for more moisture. She applies Magic by Prescriptives, an illuminizing liquid after applying moisturizer, and loves Origins’Night-A-Mins. Looks like she is a moisturizer addict to me! Haha! Hydration is good, for sure. It keeps skin young, fresh, and beautiful!

For Ruby‘s cosmetic arsenal, she sure does not pack light – and with that, I so love her. I thought I already packed heavy! It’s because Ruby‘s travels are a mix of leisure, shopping, and even business, she always needs to look her best for meetings. With the cosmetics that she packs with her, it shows how much she is knowledgeable about beauty products, and spends time searching only for the best out there! Favorite eyeshadows include MAC Cosmetics eyeshadows in Jewel Blue, Freshwater, and Tilt ( she.loves.blue! ) accompanied with the eye primer of her choice, MAC Prep and Prime, face makeup raves are for Becca’s Silky Hydating Primer, Benefit’s Some Kinda Gorgeous cream foundation, and Youngblood‘s concealer, cheek pinchers ( that she highly, highly raves about ) are from Becca’s Beach Tint and Origins Pinch Your Cheeks, and eye definers, that really finish off Ruby‘s eyes into a smoking, sultry look include Bourjois’ Clubbing Mascara, and MAC’s TechnaKohl pencils.

Done? Not quite! How about tools of the trade ? Ooh, such a droolworthy collection of travel brushes. I’m in love!!! This is a mix of MAC special edition travel brushes and Shu Uemura ones.
Last but not the least, is Ruby‘s shopping loot. Well, at least for day 1!

Here’s the Klorane shampoo ( if you can read this Ruby, how many bottles? haha! ) that she got from Watson’s, Bourjois Ultra Black Mascara ( Ruby’s favorite mascara brand ), OPI nail polish in a very beautiful shimmery gray shade that’s called “Sheer Your Toys”, an an eyeshadow pan from The Make Up Shop that we got one of each because of the buy 1, take 1 sale!
Notice the beautiful neon bags on the background? Well, aside from Ruby‘s neon pink nails when I met her, she also expressed her newfound love of anything neon colored, inspired by Stephen Sprouse‘s new collection, lotsa neon love for Louis Vuitton. I would have to agree that neons just give spice to anything, and liven things up!
My gosh, I am so happy to have met up with Ruby in Singapore. I’ve been having the time of my life here lately, with very good friends around me, and it’s always nice to see a familiar smiling face with very very common interests that you just feel like spending a whole day with just talking about fashion, life, and of course, beauty! Beauty addicts really do have a bond, right?
Next time, I shall never, ever pack light just because I’m shy. Tata for now!
