I know, I know, I promised to take care of my skin by visiting my dermatologist every month, but with my monstrous schedule during the ber months, it was close to impossible. I’ve been in total agony as I could feel my skin needing that much-needed TLC and cleaning from Dr. Marledi Dizon, but I just couldn’t because I was literally not sleeping from working this Holiday Season.
One thing that helped me through was MaMa Lotion. Remember me raving about it? It’s a micropeeling solution that’s sort of a DIY home peeling lotion, that in my definition, prevents dull skin cells from building up, hence, prevents breakouts from happening. MaMa Lotion definitely, definitely saved my skin from too much dull skin cell buildup-torture, and I was so glad that my breakouts were minimized drastically by using this every other day! After a few months, I finally saw the results from it – absolutely amazing.
As I walked in my dermatologist’s clinic, she immediately scolded me mildly, “I thought we agreed on a once a month session to take care of your skin?” with a smile, as I apologized about my crazy schedule. I saw her brighten up as she saw my skin. She was surprised that MaMa Lotion‘s effects were really good on my skin – my pores finer, my skin clear of breakouts. Oh my, I am such a convert of MaMa Lotion, and I’m glad I made that splurge ( at $45 ) that definitely improved much my skin! But then, MaMa Lotion has the highest concentration of skin-peeling acids in the market, so it would be heaven for those who have oily skin, but I would imagine it would be a bit sting-y and painful for those who have normal skin. In other words, MaMa Lotion‘s great for really, really problem skin.
Going back, it was time for cleaning! ( oh yay, oh yay, finally, after months, I truly missed my dermatologist! ). My dermatologist was just the coolest as she switched to PCA Skin for the products she uses for her procedures! I love, love PCA SKin Peels! Last session, my Body Peel was just fabulous as it made my back a whole lot clearer from spots! I was beyond thrilled as she told me that she was able to grab hold of the Detox Gel that Dr. Linder was raving so much about when I met her during the launch!
As Dr. Marledi used the Detox Gel on my skin, I could just hear her exclaim, “Oh my gosh, it’s just so easy removing the comedones!” over and over again. She tells me that it was a whole lot harder extracting comedones ( whiteheads and blackheads ) before, and now, it’s just a total breeze, which benefits both the dermatologist ( with easy extraction ), and patient ( with clearer and cleaner skin! ). After that, she performed the usual PCA Skin Peels on me ( I think, it was Esthetique this time? ), and some anti-pigment gels and vitamin serums, as I went home a happy, happy girl. My bill from my dermatologist rose from P1,800, to P 2,500 , as she upgraded from Diamond Peels to PCA Skin Peels. I’m not really complaining. I love PCA Skin Peels alot because it just works wonders on my skin!
Fast forward to today, it’s been four days, and my skin just started peeling two days ago. Thin, film-like stubborn peel-offs that I didn’t really mind because it was, after all, Christmas vacation! My skin’s a bit darker from the peel, and I’ve been religiously using PCA Skin skincare products for I am needed to steer away from abrasive, facial scrubs and MaMa Lotion for a week, or at least, until the peeling stops. Sunblock, even if I just stay at home, was most important to prevent post-peel pigmentations, and to take care of the new skin! There was an instance when I needed to wear makeup as I go out, and with the stubborn peeling, I just needed to spritz so much moisture mist on my face to prevent them from being visible. Either way, my Christmas is very happy because I finally found some time to visit my dermatologist, and keep my skin on track ( erm, a bit? haha ! ) on its improvement.
Next year, I really hope that my skin would be clear, and breakout-free as I am hoping to undergo Fraxel to take my skin back to how it once was. I really, really hope I would be on schedule!
Happy Holidays, everyone!

You sound very happy indeed
Congratulations on the PCA peel and can’t wait to read about Fraxel. I don’t know anything about it but it has growing popularity!
Hi Sophie! Where did you get your MaMa lotion and for how much?
Thanks
that reminds me, i also have to visit my dermatologist for a peel. oily skin is so high-maintenance
I can’t believe how cheap it is to visit a dermatologist there! I’m based in Oz and it cost a fortune to see one! I’ll definitely make it a point to visit one the next time I head to the Phils!
I too Love love my MaMa lotion! Having a problematic skin (like you mentioned), it has helped with breakouts and the texture of my face (almost baby smooth!). I purchased mine on eBay as it is not yet widely available in stores here. It’s a highly recommended product but do slowly work it into your routine to minimise the redness and peeling!!
Yes to SPF (even on cloudy days) and another must to add to anyone’s skin care regimen is retinol/vitamin A!!
A Beautiful 2009 New Year to you!
