I can’t say brrr enough for the weather has been dragging me back to bed every morning. The air’s just too chilly and comfortable that you’d want to hibernate like a bear! Don’t you agree?
But despite of the low temperature, what gets me fired up this time of the year? Pampering and beauty rituals, of course! I know, it’s been a year-round promise to take care of my skin and my body, but when it’s colder, it’s more of a must-do than a routine!
Anyway, here are the rituals that I’ve been doing extra to aim for being a beautiful ice princess. Oh, I mean being beautiful in this weather! Haha!
Cold Weather Skin Decrypted, “NEED MORE MOISTURE!”
This is the time of the year when you’ll notice that your skin is drier than usual, and can experience cracks on some parts of the skin, such as the feet, and chapping lips. With the drying air, add up your airconditioning unit that keeps you cozy at night, it’s-a-dryfest alright! Therefore, we are all compelled to…moisturize!
If you felt that it was icky to apply moisturizing products such as lotions, moisturizers, or balms during the summertime, then for sure you’re skin’s crying out loud by now, from the summer neglect ( that I am sometimes guilty of ) , add the cold weather dry-fest. So I say, extend a little patience and love to your skin, as this weather is just perfect to apply those moisturizers because well, it’s cold! It won’t feel icky anymore, and this is definitely the time to salvage your skin.
Let me babble some of my rituals right now, and I hope that you’d be with me in battling dryness!
Body – Load Up with Lotion!
Believe me when I say that lotions are my least favorite beauty products on earth. I’m very very sensitive about the “icky” factor that I managed to skip it for half of my life not until I noticed that my body skin looked…well, old. Dry skin can look wrinkled and old, so I really took advantage of this weather to apply body lotions…well, twice a day!
After showering must be the freshest few seconds of the day, and as skin is damp, soft, and still open-pored, I apply my body lotions on the back of my hands, my legs, and my feet. My favorite products as of late? Advanced Gluta Advance White & Firm, and Skinceuticals AOX Body Treatment. Advanced Gluta White & Firm Body Lotion is the creamier version of my favorite lotion Skintel Hand and Body Lotion, but still not greasy at all, and is perfect in the morning. I end my day with a glorious application of Skinceuticals AOX Body Treatment as it gives the skin a blast of moisture that even your a/c won’t take away from you!
Undereyes – It’s Crunch Time, More Eye Cream, Please!
As I am in quarter-age, it just seemed ages ago since I told myself that I should indulge in anti-aging skincare, as early as the age twenty. Now, instead of anti-aging skin care as an add-on, it’s fast becoming a necessity in order to preserve my skin. I’ve been seeing traces of fine lines under my eyes, and it alarms me. With that, I’ve resorted to applying eye cream, both during the day, and definitely more at night time!
Now that it’s cold, it’s definitely not so icky applying eye cream during the day. At night, I apply more eye cream because A/C, plus the drying weather means I need more moisture in the evening, plus, it’s the perfect time to apply eye cream, that you won’t need to worry about over-applying because all that you’ll be doing is sleep! With that, your eyes get really intense tender loving, and it’d thank you by looking , and staying young!
Sunblock Still A Must!
Despite the cold weather, the sun’s still playing tricks that it becomes extra sunny in the morning. With that, with people hating to wear sunblock, this weather’s the perfect weather to catch up and be accustomed to sunblock. I personally use RevaleSkin Day Cream with SPF 15, and well, my mineral makeup has SPF already, so I have no problem with that. Mom has been loving her Ponds Resurfacing Day Cream With SPF 15 and Ponds Tinted Moisturizer!
For my body, Advanced Gluta White & Firm Body Lotion is heaven sent because it has sun protection. Whoopee!
Really, if I can skip sunblock, I would, but I would be torturing my skin, and hating myself in the long run. So there, to compromise, I use moisturizers with spf. Good enough? I think so!
Whitening – Yes, Let’s Get With The Weather
For me, it’s either I’m baked with a lovely, golden tan, or I’m tolerably pale. I don’t like to be in between, with awkward skin color, so when my tan fades off, I resort to whitening and make the most of being an ice princess ( kidding! ). With the help of Advanced Gluta Advance White & Firm, I’ve felt that my skin’s softer, and fairer ( by a bit, I’ve noticed, and I’ve been using it for two weeks ) , and I’ve also been taking Image White by Pharmanex, something that my friend got me from Japan, to better skin. I don’t know if it really whitens the skin, but I’m just taking them as supplements to have better skin.
Anti-Aging Rituals, Get Them In!
Seriously, for the nth time, cold weather’s the perfect time to add up some products during your beauty and pampering time because products become tolerable, as when it’s all hot and humid, no one wants to apply moisturizers, or even take care of their skin. It just spoils the mood. This is just the perfect time!
Anti-aging serums? Bring them in! Give your skin the chance of staying as young as long as you can by maintaining a good few trusted products. My picks? RevaleSkin, Nu Skin 180, and well, I might suggest Kanebo Sensei for those who have really dry skin. Dry skin would look older, so more more more moisture is definitely needed – Kanebo’d surely do the job.
Cold Weather is Hibernation Time
Yes, like a bear, it’s sooo tempting to sleep all the time with such cozy weather. Call it beauty sleep. Restore your energy, let your body and soul rest, as well as skin to catch up on its regenerative and corrective processes. Sleeep! Zzzzz
To sum up? It’s nearing Christmastime, and it’s cold. Therefore, we need ta get ready, and look our best for the festive season. It’s best to prepare early as now, and take a few minutes every day to at least slather in some lotion and enjoy good skin! Tata!
