I think it’s a very overused line on my end, but really, I am most grateful that I am born in this times because technology has been rapidly progressing at such a dazzling speed that no one can keep up anymore, specially in the beauty department! Look, even Fraxel can get rid of depressed scars. Amazing!

With the amazing technology we have today, there are also great D-I-Y ( do it yourself ) at home beauty gadgets that would save you a trip to the dermatologist, or to the spa. Aside from the Galvanic Spa, one gadget that is most promising in my opinion, is the Baby Quasar.

The benefits? Smoother complexion, reduced lines and wrinkles, improved color and texture of the skin. Baby Quasar promises to improve the skin condition – to make it more firm, and vibrant, as it is the skin responding to the selected wavelengths of light brought about the device. Another benefit is said the skin would better absorb or work better with current treatment or products.

The Baby Quasar is a very modern device that emits wavelengths of light that can bring about anti-aging and anti-acne benefits. I’ve used it a few times, and amidst the warmth on my skin, I can feel my pores tightening. I’m whipping it up again for a full blast review for Beautynomics!

So, did I just say a contest? Yes, a contest! I am giving away one Baby Quasar, and it’s up for grabs for everyone ( in a global spectrum hahaha! )

So, all I need is for you, to answer this question, and leave it as a comment to this entry ,

‘What are you thoughts on the use of technology used in home skincare?”

As for the mechanics:
1. One entry per person
2. Contest is open for all my readers worldwide ( yay! )
3. Please leave a valid email address so that we can contact you if you are the lucky winner
4. Contest ends October 31, 2008, so all entries must be in by then for the draw.

So, join now, join now ! Grab a chance to take home this luxury beauty gadget that I so love!

I am a “gadget girl”, so I really don’t mind using technology in my skincare. The more the better :) And because I am also a busy girl (mother of three) I don’t always have the time to go to the beautician for my “gizmo treatments”, I really like the home appliances.

Technology is about innovation, and how it can be used by everyone. I think home skincare unit is good innovative technology because it brings skincare technology, which used to be done by professional at the beauty spa, to home where you can do it yourself. And that’s exactly what technology is about. That it is easily assessable and can be done by anyone.

I’m all for technology, as long as (1) the instructions provided are clear, (2) the promises are realistic (i.e. no false advertisement!), and (3) the object doesn’t take too much space. My bathroom is already crammed!

I think it’s cool, 1st because it’s less expensive and 2nd is it wouldn’t take much of my time because I can do it at home.

    I really want this!

I like how the use of technology in home skincare provides people with a more accessible and efficient way to achieve high quality results. It’s time-saving since it allows us to use a beauty gadget whenever and as many times as we want, without having to leave the comfort of our homes. With all the ongoing advancements in technology, choosing the right personal beauty gadget can give you more value for your money rather than going to the mall or spa to have it done. Makes things much easier, and more fun. :)

I’m all for technology. And to be able to use something like this at home can save a lot of money from countless spas and facials we spend on. I’d say go for it!

What amazes me is that Filipinos are able to adapt into this technology and embrace the opportunity of relaxation at its best, in the comfort of our own home with the care of our own hands, and with the products naturally made for the best of our skin.
Truly it is a blessing not just for the “kikay” ones but for everybody.

i love things like this! do it yourself at home products are so easy and i love seeing results withouth having to spend a ton of money!

they make you feel so good like you just went to a spa but it makes you feel even better cuz either you won it :) or you spent money on it but can reuse it again and again!!

i love skincare technology that you can do at home!!

Technology in home skin care is a definite breakthrough. I live a busy life with numerous activities per day. Though it is convenient to have my skin to get treated at a spa or dermatologist, i do relish the fact that i can immediately go to bed after using a machine such as this. Small machines like Baby Quasar, with proper use, will not only make my life easier but save me a lot of money.

  14. maria:
    (October 2nd, 2008 at 12:27 pm)

I think that it’s very convenient but the effectivity will still depend on the user. Personal use of high-tech gadgets are subject to the use and abuse of the user. Sometimes, there’s a tendency for the user not to follow the instructions carefully.

But over-all, with careful use, it’s a big comfort for beauty addicts like me.

  15. (October 2nd, 2008 at 12:43 pm)

I think it’s great that skincare technology is now being made vailable for home use – it saves us money and gives us more convenience! I think it’s great that we can now do more on our own – and not get charged hundreds to thousands of Pesos for every single thing!

I come from a family of gadget freaks when it comes to computers and cameras – we always jump at the chance to try out new stuff. But when it comes to skin and hair care, I’m a lot more hesitant to try it out coz we’re talking about our bodies here and permanent damage could be done if something goes wrong with the gadgets. (Not like if something goes wrong with your computer – you can always reformat or just get new parts. You can’t do the same with your face!)

So I find some comfort in getting my gadgets from really known brands, or brands that come highly recommended. (Which is why we read blogs like this, right?)

  16. Candice:
    (October 2nd, 2008 at 1:53 pm)

One thing I admire about the high tech gadgets for home use is the amount and quality of research and development that goes on in developing these ‘machines’. Not only does it need to be effective, it must also be safe for the typical home user. So that even if we make a mistake in using the product, it won’t be as devastating as losing our eyesight or burning our skin. For these, I salute all the engineers and scientists of these beauty products. Cheers to all of you!

    (October 2nd, 2008 at 2:33 pm)

I think this idea is absolutely fabulous. who says we have to go to the derma or facial clinic to get the skin that we want? with tech available for home skincare, we can do our facial skincare at the comforts of our own home, any time we want. it’s convenient and definitely an investment since we don’t have to keep going back to the clinic for facial sessions. as long as it’s effective, affordable and easy to use, i’m all for it!

  18. Jill:
    (October 2nd, 2008 at 8:43 pm)

I’m all for technology to be used at home, provided that the equipment has controls to minimize abuse – i.e. explicit instructions, auto off to prevent overuse, etc.
Personally, if it saves me the effort of going to a spa and doing it on my time (prefer early morning rituals at 5 am), then I’m all for it…
    Thank you for the drawing!

  19. Mars:
    (October 2nd, 2008 at 10:18 pm)

Well, technology has been very helpful in so many ways. It speeds things up! And I think that’s really important now a days! I’m a college student and things have been very busy but even then I still find time to treat myself and take care of my skin (Taft can be so… polluted =p). Using technology for skin care is very convenient for everyone who’s living such a fast paced life. It would give the benefit of spa-like treatment in just a few minutes! :) Plus, less expenses too and at the comfort of your home… or wherever! Woot! Facial in a bag! =P

  20. Regina Sanders:
    (October 2nd, 2008 at 11:02 pm)

I personally think today’s technology allows women who normally do not have the time or financial means to have facials at salons to improve the quality of their skin. I have only had one facial at a salon in my life – but I continually try the new skincare techology at home.

It is amazing how far technology has come to provide us with convenience, reasonable affordability and results. Imagine the genius behind that portable, hand-held device.

  22. (October 3rd, 2008 at 5:14 am)

I believe in this modern life, we can’t resist the development of technology to make us more comfortable and convenient. Besides if it really works well and worth every buck, I’ll definitely be a keeper!

Technology and beauty is simply a perfect, brilliant combination. I’m fully embracing technology. With it, everything is possible. Technology has paved way for imperfect person like me to be able to look good and feel good about myself. With technology, I realized life is not so unfair after all.

  26. (October 3rd, 2008 at 11:40 am)

Technology makes our life easier. More so with home skin care – ease of use, lighter on the pockets. I haven’t tried any facial skin care for home use but I’d definitely like to some day.

  27. (October 3rd, 2008 at 1:20 pm)

I’m all for technology. Gone are the days when you have to put up with every imperfection God gave you.

Home skin care technology is a much much less expensive alternative to going to Belo, Calayan, etc. Imagine how much you’d be saving!

Do it to feel good though, not to satisfy others. :-)

In order to have good skin, I really try my best to become patient in applying beauty products and consistent in going to spas and checkups. Going to spas is painful on my budget and really takes too much effort and time. If I would be able to have a gadget which I can afford and is really effective, I’ll surely get one. =D

For a working mom like me who juggles career, my role as a mom and a wife,it helps a lot to have a modern device that saves my time of going to a spa or a clinic. Since it’s a DIY gadget, I’ll have enough time to pamper myself at the comfort of my home. And who wouldn’t love all the wonderful effects of this amazing gadget? ;)

  30. mary:
    (October 3rd, 2008 at 7:28 pm)

been really interested with beauty innovations since i saw the popular “toothbrush” method facial. wand type gadgets are just way too expensive for a student like me. maybe if i had one of this tools, it will suffice my skin’s needs. if only they were affordable, i am sure many will treat their skin better!
technology has been a blast this past years especially in the beauty industry. it has indeed help a lot of women stay gorgeous. :)

  31. Ida:
    (October 3rd, 2008 at 9:14 pm)

I think it is great as long as it is not harmful and does not cause any problems. I have heard some interesting things about this gadget and would love to try it.

  32. (October 4th, 2008 at 6:45 am)

I am a slave to my computer, and every time an invention comes out that genuinely makes my life easier I am up for giving it a go. Some things are fads, but some catch on and although I have to admit I only used my heated eyelash curlers once or twice, something like this has got to be worth a go.

Good, cared for skin is the key to looking young.

Skincare technology that can be used at home is exciting! That means you don’t need to go out for treatments all the time. I’m all for the idea, as long as it will save me more money in the long run, gives the same, if not better results of professional skin care treatments and is easy to use :D

  34. Jackie:

Technology helps make our life easier. So why not venture to beauty department? skincare gadgets can help us pamper and take care of our skin even with our fast phase and hectic schedule. it can also help us save money in the long run. so, there would be no more excuse for not having time taking care of our skin.

I first read about the Quasar at Aromaleigh’s blog and it was a pleasant surprise to see it mentioned here. I believe technology in home skincare definitely makes our beauty lives easier! I’m very satisfied with my Clarisonic even though it was a splurge. I feel like it gets my skin so much cleaner than just washing with my hands. I’ve also been contemplating trying the Zeno and other acne treatment devices because I struggle with acne. The Baby Quasar is now going on my wishlist!

Achieving beauty has never been easier (and cheaper) thanks to today’s technology on home skincare. Consumers of home skincare products and gadgets are actually saving a lot by DIY treatments compared to visiting a salon or a spa. These gadgets are an investment because you can use them anytime you want and at the comfort of your own home. The cost of these gadgets are just a fraction of what you would spend on regular spa visits. Savings and beauty. These are very wise investments indeed.

    (October 5th, 2008 at 6:54 pm)

Having a home-based technology for your skincare regimen saves time and money. It saves time because it allows you to do your skincare routine to when it is convenient for you. Saves money because you don’t have to go out of the comfort of your home to avail of a “skin treat” (gas is still pretty expensive to date)and it costs a fraction of the price as when you go to facial clinics or derma (and you pretty much get the same results at home).

  40. maryjoyce:
    (October 7th, 2008 at 12:21 am)

I think having techie skin care is a good investment for any person. You get to enjoy what technology has to offer at the confines of your home. At the long run, you save money and time, since you can do it by yourself at any time you have, and face it, we do get busy most of the time and tends to forget to pamper ourselves, and gives ourselves the excuse “im too busy to go to (blank) to have skin treatments”.. NO EXCUSE anymore!

  41. Faye:

I really love home skin beauty gadgets. It makes it so convenient to pamper yourself and is not as expensive as getting routine treatments!

technology’s purpose is to make people’s lives easier… and making it work for home skincare makes my life even better! Ü

  43. (October 7th, 2008 at 2:33 pm)

Using technology at home could be good and bad depending on how good the technology was made and how easy it is to use. As we all know people tend to do things on their own without reading instructions!

Personally, i think technology at home is great for people who “KNOWS” what they need and what they want and be able to use them to save time and money! :)

  44. IRISH:
    (October 7th, 2008 at 5:06 pm)

What are you thoughts on the use of technology used in home skincare?”

The Bottomline is: Not all technology are created equal. Sometimes, the basic, natural methods still work best. BUT…

Like any true blooded, open minded, kikay-geek at heart,

I am OPEN to using technology driven products for home skin care. I may snub certain nifty tools but If a beauty gadget comes recommended by a beauty expert I trust,

    then by all means,

Let the baptism of fire begin :)

  45. mirelli:
    (October 7th, 2008 at 9:46 pm)

What are you thoughts on the use of technology used in home skincare?”

Technology is already a part of our fast-paced lives. We may not notice it at times but we always use technology, some are simple while some are complex. I say that the use of technology is not a big deal as long as you know where, how and when to use it. Again, it has already been a part of our daily lives so as long as we’re not abusing the technology and more importantly ourselves (our skin) then i’ll definitely go for it.

  46. (October 9th, 2008 at 11:00 am)

if it makes me look good or evens out my skin tone, works on wrinkles, or repairs prior sun damage I am definitely willing to try it out. I have very fair skin, and never tanned and always burned. My dad has the same fair skin as I, and he has had skin cancer and laser removal treatments which have permanently left scarring and discolorations on his face. So reversing the effects of previous damage is a biggie in my book.

  47. (October 9th, 2008 at 11:18 am)

When I hear “home skincare,” I automatically think cucumber slices on tired, puffy eyes. I would never have connected technology and gadgets to that mental picture.

We usually encounter such gadgets only in spas and beauty parlors. I prefer this to home-made treatments because I get to relax while my skin is pampered by professionals. I don’t have to worry about putting too much product, or leaving the equipment turned on too long.

But I do try to stay open-minded about skincare products and techniques. I would have to try the gadget first, and see if it has a good effect on my skin. …And then decide if it’s worth my time and money.

  48. Kat B.:
    (October 10th, 2008 at 3:37 pm)

I think it’s great that there are beauty gadgets for women now. Beautifying just gets better and better! The time and effort saved is also important when you are using something that really works and has been tested just like any other gadget. Even just 15 minutes of pampering at home is a treat!

  49. Lauren M:
    (October 11th, 2008 at 3:41 am)

After suffering really bad acne, technology is something that I can really appreciate. My parents generation never had the chance to do half the things we we have today, and I’m grateful that the technology can enhance my looks to show off my personality!

  50. Jing:
    (October 11th, 2008 at 6:29 am)

We now have better alternative of using (beauty) technology in the comfort of our own homes. It’s more economical (in the long run) and less time consuming. With our busy lives, it’s already haven to have a few minutes of luxury even at home :)

  51. Joy:
    (October 11th, 2008 at 1:19 pm)

We’re fortunate to be born in the, “I can do anything!” age. With a good plan, technology empowers us to be in control and be responsible for how we want our skin care routine to shape out.
    1. We no longer have to block out half a day for our treatments.
    2. We(usually)take initiative to research and sharpen our observation and deduction skills in order to know basically what works or doesn’t work for us. (No more sitting in our bestfriend’s/ shrink’s house and moaning about damage done to us by uncaring/careless technicians.)
    3. We save up in the long run on major treatments and procedures bec we know our skin and how to take care of it.
Not all technologies are created equal, we have to be discerning in the tools we invest in. How it affects our environment, our lives and most importantly, our looks!!!

  52. Nits:
    (October 11th, 2008 at 2:00 pm)

In this fast pace world, time is of the essence and technology plays a big part in this. It allows us to perform our tasks quickly but with efficiency. In the area of skincare, everyone has the right beautiful skin. But not all of us can afford regular visits to dermatogolist or beauty centers. Not to mention that it would hurt our pockets. Thus, the use of technoloy in home skincare will bring not only convenience but savings in the long run. These beauty gadgets are sometimes expensive. But if we buy the right tools then we are making right investments.

  53. (October 12th, 2008 at 12:18 pm)

I admit that I’m one of those people who couldn’t care less about make-ups and other stuff. (1) Time-consuming. (2) Expensive. (3) I’m the “ningas-kugon” type (I never do follow-ups). The only time I went to a parlor to have my face “fixed” was when I graduated high school. Can’t say I’m no kikay though (I believe there’s at least one kikay cell in everyone).

So coming from someone who hasn’t tried anything except gay beauty parlors, technology in home skincare is heaven-sent. Heck, technology itself does wonders. It certainly leaves me one less reason to pamper myself. I also imagine it’s less costly than frequent visits to the dermatologist. So heck, even if I honestly have no idea how this Baby Quasar works, I’m all for the technology it represents. However, people need to be told how to use it properly (in general).

(I almost forgot to join; good thing I remembered that I did promise you I’d join, heh)

technology is definitely everywhere!!! technology in home skincare gives a lot of advantages specially to working girls like me who don’t have much time to visit a dermatologist regularly. i go for gadgets that could give me every woman wants – beautiful skin, of course!

  56. Che:
    (October 14th, 2008 at 11:04 pm)

Work with your right hand, pamper yourself with your left. Impossible? Nah!

Just imagine how much time and money you can save with these advanced technologies. Hardworking ladies do not need to look so stressed all the time! Being able to look your best despite your stressful job is not a dream anymore. Who needs a salon if you can achieve that no make-up look by just making sure that you care enough for yourself. And yes, these technologies will make sure that it’s efficient and worth your bucks.

As long as the items have idiot-proof instructions, I consider beauty gadgets for home use one of the most necessary and convenient items to have around the house. (Like an oven toaster!) I’m glad they’re commercially available. In this millenium, without them, civilization would collapse: only the uber-wealthy would be pretty and the rest of us will all look like either dried up sponges or day-old tomato and cheese pizzas. :)

  61. Crystal:
    (October 19th, 2008 at 4:56 pm)

Technology is for the betterment of people’s lives, and skincare is no exception. In the modern world, there are so many options available to take care of your skin that there is already no excuse to have bad skin. During the 20th century, skincare was limited to creams and the like. However, the 21st century saw the rise of skincare gadgets. You don’t need to go to dermas anymore as mini versions of lasers can now be used by people on the go and on the cheap like me :P

  62. Maureen:
    (October 21st, 2008 at 12:27 am)

I think technological advances in the area of cosmetology are wonderful and exciting (especially as I get older.) Employing science in our quest to enhance our appearance adds a layer of safety that wasn’t there before. In the past legitimate science was rarely used to create beauty products and devices, often with disasterous results. We women were used as guinea pigs. Now with scientific research, we can feel much safer about the beauty devices and products we use.

  63. Karen:
    (October 21st, 2008 at 5:50 am)

I think its fantastic that technology is able to bring us all these different home skin rejuvenation systems that would take up alot of time and money to have done at a salon/surgery and you can then use them in your own time and in the privacy of your own home without leaving the clinic with a bright red face and going out in public!

Much to my delight i saw this blog, another gadget that i can use at home to prettify myself. it doen’t only saves me time but saves money that I can use to buy diapers and other stuff for my baby. so a big thumbs up to those who invented this kind of gadgets it really helps.!!!

Hi! I support anyone who uses technology for skin care. If I had a big budget, I would buy an anti-acne device to reduce my cystic acne. If you are going to use a gadget, it’s best to research and compare before buying. Thank you!

    (October 30th, 2008 at 12:07 pm)

I love the fact that technology is being used in home skincare, but sometimes I get just the slightest bit wary. For example, all those skin creams that promise to make your skin 300% more moisturized–well, anything will add moisture to dry skin, and it’s something that’s pretty hard to quantify. Sometimes I feel like they just use fancy scientific words on their products to make them seem better–but honestly, when you think about it, any scrub that doesn’t melt skin from your face will enhance cell turnover. But the prospect of being able to, say, do laser hair removal at home or to have a really good blowdryer is excellent. I know that my ion technology hairdryer does wonders for my hair in ways that my old one never did.

Because of the immensely great improvements brought about by technology in improving any person’s everyday life, why not use it for personal care as well?

It’s true when they say that it MAY or MAY NOT be very safe – but its just on a matter of right usage. Technology is offering us things that can help us in our “beautifying” missions, so why not grab it?

The discoveries in terms of skin care has improved by leaps within the past years, making it possible for every individual to set-up their own mini-spa at home. Not to say, in the long run, it will be cheaper than regular spa visits.

Its just a matter of buying the right products, using them the right way to achieve the right results. :)
