The regular reader in this blog must wonder why I’m so obsessed about eyeliners. Well the answer is, well, my eyes are small, and the solution for small eyes to give them more definition is definitely eyeliner! Another reason, why I’ve been checking out different brands is that my skin is impossibly oily and the only eyeliner that I’ve tried that did not smudge were liquid eyeliners like Blinc, Fashion 21 and the Bare Escentuals Weather Everything Liner Sealant paired with loose minerals. I have been most frustrated to use pencil and gel eyeliners, and in one of my previous entries, some girls have suggested that Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencil is amazing and stays put really well, so with much luck , I found a friend in Yahoo Messenger who was having her vacation in the US and asked her to buy two for me!
I got two shades, well, two of the shades that I mostly use ( since I was already shopping at Amazon.com getting purple and green shades, haha! ), Zero ( black ) and Bourbon ( shiny dark brown ). When I received them, I was so giddy in trying them out. I roadtested them for two days by tightlining. ( tightlining is the technique of applying eyeliner on the inner rims of the eyes ).
At first glide, I was absolutely amazed on how buttery and easy it is to apply this eyeliner! It is very very kohl eyeliner material that draws very creamy product on the inner rims in a heartbeat, unlike other pencil eyeliners that you need to either exert more pressure or apply several times to get the solid line that you need. You exert your lightest pressure to apply on the inner rim ( or the lashline ), and you already get a solid line instantly. I’m glad because that’s the way we should be using eyeliners – we should exert the lightest pressure possible because our eyes are very delicate.
And so I went to work bare-faced , having only applied eyeliner, as I wait for the day to end to check myself in front of the mirror by the end of the day. As usual, my face was accumulating some oil and dirt, and as I was off work, I rushed home and checked myself in front of the mirror. The result?
Well….I could definitely see the eyeliner still very much in tact, but it had faded by about 30%. Of course we can’t expect the eyeliner to stay on the inner rims as it is because it is watery in the first place. No problem about that. I’m already impressed because I still see eyeliner on my eyes.
So, another question – did it smudge? Well, to be honest, it still did! ( now, I’m expecting alot of people to get shocked because it’s already the most widely professed best eyeliner out there ) BUT, the smudging was at its minimal that you won’t even consider it a “real smudge”. Very very very minimal, the least that I have encountered, considering that it glides like kohl. I’m so so so so so impressed! I think I’ve found a really great pencil eyeliner here!
Will I repurchase? Oh definitely. This is so darn easy to use, draws a very quick solid line, glides like butter, and stays on the longest on me! A really great buy at around $ 15! If given the chance, I would want to get all of the colors! Oh yay!

ooohhh!! lemme try! lemme try pretty pls!
i’m loving my revlon colorstay retractable eyeliner coz like this one it stays put and smudges minimally.. oohhh!! i soo want one of these!!
Ooh, maybe I’ll grab one when I go to the States! I love eyeliner but I rarely use pencil because of the smudge factor.
I love me some 24/7 pencils, and I just picked up the Sephora Flash waterproof pencils ($8) and they last even longer (well the black one anyway on the waterline), but they can be kinda smudgy when you apply, until they “set”. They go on maybe even a little more smoothly than the 24/7 (if that is even possible), but that is what makes them a little smudgy when you first apply. And I used waterproof remover and it still didn’t take it all off! Love them both!!
oops, Sephora Flashy pencils …
Shenster : I’ve a Revlon myself, I shall be blogging bout it next week:) I got four last weekend because of what you said. SHOOT. hahaha!
Critty : Wow, and yet another one to try! Hahaha!
I also have the same problem. Even MAC eyeliners smudge on me after a couple of hours of wear. The best eyeliner I’ve tried so far is Dior’s Waterproof eyeliner… but even that smudges after 8 hours of wear.
hmmm…sis Sophie, you know what? A lot of product that is super SMUDGE Proof to other people, honestly still smudges on us here! I guess it has to do with our weather here! lol but if its minimal, it is fine!!!
oh, i would try this out! i hope there is a grayish shade… =)
Lauren : Sigh, same for me! I think you’ll look smashing with eyeliner!
Go get a few Urban Decay 24/7′s in Sephora when you get there!
Tasha : I agree! Well as compared to MAC, this glides in easier, way easier! I want to try Dior, too.
Nikki: I know right. We’re impossible. hahaha!
Therese : I believe they have a gunmetal shade for this:)
i want! i want!
i should have gotten it while you were not looking..hehe..:P
I looove Urban Decay’s eyeliners too! But they also smudge on me(I line my upper lash line and it smudges onto my lower lash line). But they’re still my fave since they glide on soooo easily, and the colors are absolutely eye-popping!
I have tried MAC, Revlon, CoverGirl, Maybelline, Prestige, Smashbox, Indelible, Almay, Ramy, Aquaeyes, Bourjois, so many ‘semi-permanent” markers, Avon and too many more to name. The only thing that works is the Bare Minerals liner shadow plus the weather anything sealer. That stuff is outrageous but waaaaaaay too messy and inconvenient to use. I ruined the entire bottom of a $300+ dooney & bourke bag with that stuff! I keep telling Leslie to put her sealer in a more convenient type container like Sephora is now doing (Laura Gellar has one too). I also tell her to maybe mix some colors in with the sealer and sell it prepackaged, but who knows if she’ll ever listen. Along with my quest for perfect fitting jeans comes my quest for eyeliner that doesn’t run. I had so much faith in the “Indelible” pencil but i put it on this morning and it’s already smearing!!!! I’ll try Urban Decay next.
