I was called to do makeup for a shoot today, thanks to my very supportive mentor RB Chanco. I had the absolute shock of my life when I entered the dressing room and met the person whom I am doing makeup for – it’s Rovilson Fernandez!
Rovilson Fernandez is one host that I feel will never run out of words because of his very spontaneous nature. I’ve watched him host Ang Pinaka on QTV, and me and my friends have been rooting for him and Marc Nelson to win during their adventure in Amazing Race, Asia. ( and just now, I just knew that guy friends know him because he’s EIC for Maxim? haha! ) Needless to say, I tried to keep my calm and do my job efficiently. For men’s makeup, it was more on bronzers and contouring, and I enjoyed this shoot despite the heat!
Rovilson was very friendly to everyone that I was able to get away with a few interview questions for the Beautynomics Blog. I asked him about skincare, and I was expecting some answer like “oh, I don’t really do anything, my skin’s just as it is.” that is typically the answers of men, that make them look effortless with having good skin. I was surprised when he sounded very enthusiastic about skin care, and said, “Oh, I take good care of my skin!”
Turns out, Rovilson tells me that he has oily skin, and maintains his clear skin by using facial wash, toner, moisturizer, and acne spot treatment. He uses Nivea Facial Wash and Kiehl’s Facial Wash ( I wasn’t able to ask specifically which, though ), and uses toner after washing! ( Now, huge applause! ). He washes his face two to three times a day to feel refreshed and clean. He believes in skincare as a good way to maintain good skin and prevent skin problems, and prefers products with no fragrance.
So girls, next time your man complains that having a skin care regimen is so not manlike, better show him this blog entry that someone so masculine as Rovilson believes in good skin! Times have changed, yknow!
And for Rovilson‘s fans, I was able to ask him what he likes in a girl – or rather, first notices in a girl. “Height, that’s what I first notice in a girl.” ( okay, do I have takers here? ), also, he’s also quite particular with fragrance. He wants girls who smell refreshing, clean, that just makes them so pretty!
Well, there you have it! I hope I made some girls smile !

You’re washing your face too much! Twice a day is fine. In between washings, I suggest you use MAC Charge Water (the orange variant) . It’s heaven sent to us oil haters. Right Sophie and Jheng?
