The New View Collection is one of MAC Cosmetics‘ latest mineralized collections, together with Electroflash and Sonic Chic. Looks like mineralized or “baked” cosmetics are in right now! On my end, I was able to discover MAC Mineralized Skinfinish from the MAC workshops I’ve attended in lieu of my makeup studies. I’ve learned that it’s a very versatile product as it can serve as a light coverage powder foundation, a finishing powder for that soft focus finish, a highlighter when lighter shades are used, and a contour product for darker shades. It’s a fresh, and lighter ( less chances of breaking out as well ) from the MAC Studiofix. With the New View Collection, about 2/3 of the pan is matte Mineralized Skinfinish, and about 1/3 of the pan is shimmery in texture.
Here I’ve got two variants that I’m going to review. One is Light Medium/Natural and Shimmer ( left ), and one is Dark/Natural and Shimmer.
The Mineralized Skinfinish in Light Medium/ Natural and Shimmer is described as “pale golden beige/ warm yellow beige”. For foundation and setting purposes, this would fit those who are using NC25 to NC30 - for those with fair to light skin. My skin shade is medium so it’s too light for my use, but this could serve as my highlighter ( and I love that part of applying makeup! )
For medium skin shades, Light Medium can be used to highlight for day makeup, for highlighting to be soft-focus, matte, and subtle, and the shimmery part of the pan can be used to transform a day look into a night-out look, to be applied at the apples of the cheeks after blush, or under the eyes for that gorgeous, luminous night look.
As for Dark/Natural and Shimmer , described as “Deep Caramel/ Mid-tone Yellow Gold “, , I feel, will fit those who use NC40 to 45 ( for darker skin ) albeit a bit orange. I would not be able to use this to contour for it’s too orange for me ( I prefer more neutrals ), but the Shimmer is the fantastic part of the pan - the peachy shimmer is perfect as an eyeshadow highlighter, a bronzer, and still an overall highlighter to give you a summer glow.
Overall, I still think that this is the best collection launched so far ( as for MAC face makeup ), because it combines two products - a sheer face powder and a shimmer powder to work together and be incredibly multi-purpose. Definitely saves you alot of space in your vanity kit.

wow sis did you get ‘em from SG? i so want Medium/Natural And Shimmer pero am using NC30… you think i should get Light instead?
